Download or read book State space Realisations of Linear 2 D Systems with Extensions to the General ND n 2 Case written by Krzysztof Galkowski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-01-29 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book demonstrates the newly developed Elementary Operations Algorithm (EOA). This is a systematic method for constructing a range of state-space realizations for 2-D systems. The key achievements of the monograph are as follows: - It provides a research-level introduction to the general area and undertakes a comparative critical review of previous approaches. - It gives a thorough coverage of the theoretical basis of the EOA algorithm. - It demonstrates the effectiveness of the EOA algorithm, for example, through the use of algebraic symbolic computing (using MAPLE), as well as by comparing this method with common alternatives.

Book Multidimensional Signals and Systems

Download or read book Multidimensional Signals and Systems written by Rudolf Rabenstein and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-24 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the theory of multidimensional signals and systems and related practical aspects. It extends the properties and mathematical tools of one-dimensional signals and systems to multiple dimensions and covers relevant timeless topics including multidimensional transformations, multidimensional sampling as well as discrete multidimensional systems. A special emphasis is placed on physical systems described by partial differential equations, the construction of suitable integral transformations and the implementation of the corresponding discrete-time algorithms. To this end, signal spaces and functional transformations are introduced at a mathematical level provided by undergraduate programs in engineering and science. The presentation takes a comprehensive, illustrative and educational approach without reference to a particular application field. Instead, the book builds a solid theoretical concept of multidimensional signals and systems and shows the application to various problems relevant for practical scenarios.

Book Positive Systems Theory and Applications

Download or read book Positive Systems Theory and Applications written by Luca Benvenuti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-07-25 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proceedings of the First Multidisciplinary International Symposium on Positive Systems Theory and Applications (POSTA 2003) held in Rome, Italy, August 28-30, 2003. Positive Systems are systems in which the relevant variables assume nonnegative values. These systems are quite common in applications where variables represent positive quantities such as populations, goods, money, time, data packets flowing in a network, densities of chemical species, probabilities, etc. The aim of the symposium was to join together researchers working in the different areas related to positive systems such as telecommunications, economy, biomedicine, chemistry and physics in order to provide a multidisciplinary forum where they have the opportunity to exchange ideas and compare results in a unifying framework.

Book The Realization Problem for Positive and Fractional Systems

Download or read book The Realization Problem for Positive and Fractional Systems written by Tadeusz Kaczorek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-02-06 with total page 599 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the realization problem of positive and fractional continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems. Roughly speaking the essence of the realization problem can be stated as follows: Find the matrices of the state space equations of linear systems for given their transfer matrices. This first book on this topic shows how many well-known classical approaches have been extended to the new classes of positive and fractional linear systems. The modified Gilbert method for multi-input multi-output linear systems, the method for determination of realizations in the controller canonical forms and in observer canonical forms are presented. The realization problem for linear systems described by differential operators, the realization problem in the Weierstrass canonical forms and of the descriptor linear systems for given Markov parameters are addressed. The book also presents a method for the determination of minimal realizations of descriptor linear systems and an extension for cone linear systems. This monographs summarizes recent original investigations of the authors in the new field of the positive and fractional linear systems.

Book Mathematics of Complexity and Dynamical Systems

Download or read book Mathematics of Complexity and Dynamical Systems written by Robert A. Meyers and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-10-05 with total page 1885 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematics of Complexity and Dynamical Systems is an authoritative reference to the basic tools and concepts of complexity, systems theory, and dynamical systems from the perspective of pure and applied mathematics. Complex systems are systems that comprise many interacting parts with the ability to generate a new quality of collective behavior through self-organization, e.g. the spontaneous formation of temporal, spatial or functional structures. These systems are often characterized by extreme sensitivity to initial conditions as well as emergent behavior that are not readily predictable or even completely deterministic. The more than 100 entries in this wide-ranging, single source work provide a comprehensive explication of the theory and applications of mathematical complexity, covering ergodic theory, fractals and multifractals, dynamical systems, perturbation theory, solitons, systems and control theory, and related topics. Mathematics of Complexity and Dynamical Systems is an essential reference for all those interested in mathematical complexity, from undergraduate and graduate students up through professional researchers.

Book Trends and Progress in System Identification

Download or read book Trends and Progress in System Identification written by Pieter Eykhoff and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trends and Progress in System Identification is a three-part book that focuses on model considerations, identification methods, and experimental conditions involved in system identification. Organized into 10 chapters, this book begins with a discussion of model method in system identification, citing four examples differing on the nature of the models involved, the nature of the fields, and their goals. Subsequent chapters describe the most important aspects of model theory; the ""classical"" methods and time series estimation; application of least squares and related techniques for the estimation of dynamic system parameters; the maximum likelihood and error prediction methods; and the modern development of statistical methods. Non-parametric approaches, identification of nonlinear systems by piecewise approximation, and the minimax identification are then explained. Other chapters explore the Bayesian approach to system identification; choice of input signals; and choice and effect of different feedback configurations in system identification. This book will be useful for control engineers, system scientists, biologists, and members of other disciplines dealing withdynamical relations.
