Book State Power 2 0

Download or read book State Power 2 0 written by Muzammil M. Hussain and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-01 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital media and online social networking applications have changed the way in which dissent is organized with social movement leaders using online applications and digital content systems to organize collective action, activate local protest groups, network with international social movements and share their political perspectives. In the past, authoritarian regimes could control broadcast media in times of political crisis by destroying newsprint supplies, seizing radio and television stations, and blocking phone calls. It is much more difficult to control media in the digital age though there have certainly been occasions when states have successfully shut down their digital networks. What causes state-powers to block internet access, disable digital networks or even shut off internet access? How is it done, what is the impact and how do dissidents attempt to fight back? In this timely and accessible volume a collection of high profile, international scholars answer these key questions using cases from Israel, Iran, Russia, Morocco, Vietnam and Kuwait and assess the political economy of the actors, institutions and regimes involved and effected by the state-management and control of digital networks.

Book High Efficiency RF and Microwave Solid State Power Amplifiers

Download or read book High Efficiency RF and Microwave Solid State Power Amplifiers written by Paolo Colantonio and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-07-08 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you want to know how to design high efficiency RF and microwave solid state power amplifiers? Read this book to learn the main concepts that are fundamental for optimum amplifier design. Practical design techniques are set out, stating the pros and cons for each method presented in this text. In addition to novel theoretical discussion and workable guidelines, you will find helpful running examples and case studies that demonstrate the key issues involved in power amplifier (PA) design flow. Highlights include: Clarification of topics which are often misunderstood and misused, such as bias classes and PA nomenclatures. The consideration of both hybrid and monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs). Discussions of switch-mode and current-mode PA design approaches and an explanation of the differences. Coverage of the linearity issue in PA design at circuit level, with advice on low distortion power stages. Analysis of the hot topic of Doherty amplifier design, plus a description of advanced techniques based on multi-way and multi-stage architecture solutions. High Efficiency RF and Microwave Solid State Power Amplifiers is: an ideal tutorial for MSc and postgraduate students taking courses in microwave electronics and solid state circuit/device design; a useful reference text for practising electronic engineers and researchers in the field of PA design and microwave and RF engineering. With its unique unified vision of solid state amplifiers, you won’t find a more comprehensive publication on the topic.

Book The Sinews of State Power

Download or read book The Sinews of State Power written by Juan Wang and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-03-16 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sinews of State Power seeks to explain why rural China has been so unstable since 2000, despite numerous national reforms. Using original fieldwork, it traces the rise and demise of cohesive local states in rural China since the Maoist era. It shows that, the county, township, and village levels of government, when in alliance, have facilitated economic growth and caused social grievances. However, national reforms redressing local deviation, together with individual responses from each level of administration, have dismantled elite alliances, and consequentially undermined the extractive, coercive, and responsive capacity of the state. This book forms dialogue with two fields of inquiry in China studies and comparative politics. First, researches on farmer protest often either focus on farmers' grievances, organizations, and strategies, or examine responses from the state as a uniform entity. This book, instead, highlights the anthropology of the state by looking into elite cohesion across administrative levels that determines the exercise of state capacity. Second, studies of regime stability or endurance have stressed holistic factors, such as institutional adaptability, political culture, or epidemic corruption. The Sinews of State Power instead revisits the fundamental components of a capable government - a coherent and robust local leadership that enables the function of a state.

Book excerpt: The State of the Union is divided. Urban versus rural. Red State vs. Blue state. Everyone agrees that the rancor in our political debates is unsustainable, yet few admit that forcing their own political agenda on others might be part of the problem. What if we're thinking about it all wrong? What if factions and divisions are inevitable among people living in different parts of the country, and the solution has been right there in the Constitution since the beginning? Liberal and conservative states alike are re-discovering the virtues of Federalism, in which states serve as the testing grounds for different policies, and citizens "vote with their feet" if they don't like what their government is doing with their tax dollars. These interviews explore the federalist revival taking place across the country from eight difference perspectives. A house divided cannot stand, but a healthy competition among the United States can make America more dynamic and prosperous than ever before. The founders set out to establish a form of government that balanced powers not only among the three branches of government, but also among Federal, state and local government. The Constitution clearly specifies those few and strictly enumerated powers granted to the Federal Government, while the rest of the powers are "reserved to the states and to the people." Yet somehow, since our country's founding, Federal government has seized those powers that were reserved to the states (and the people) and grown into the Leviathan we know it as today. In a new series of edited and condensed interviews, Bob and his guests explore the history behind our federalist form of government, and how the states are a silver lining on an otherwise bleak landscape. Featuring professors, former senators and sitting state Supreme Court judges, *Power to the States* argues that there are reasons to be optimistic about libertarian reforms in the United States... if you know where to look.
