Book Standard Air Pollution Classification Network a Thesaurus of Terms

Download or read book Standard Air Pollution Classification Network a Thesaurus of Terms written by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and published by BiblioGov. This book was released on 2013-11 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was introduced on December 2, 1970 by President Richard Nixon. The agency is charged with protecting human health and the environment, by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress. The EPA's struggle to protect health and the environment is seen through each of its official publications. These publications outline new policies, detail problems with enforcing laws, document the need for new legislation, and describe new tactics to use to solve these issues. This collection of publications ranges from historic documents to reports released in the new millennium, and features works like: Bicycle for a Better Environment, Health Effects of Increasing Sulfur Oxides Emissions Draft, and Women and Environmental Health.

Book Standard Air Pollution Classification Network

Download or read book Standard Air Pollution Classification Network written by Peter Halpin and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maud Hart Lovelace--internationally famed author of the Betsy-Tacy children's books--joined literary forces with her husband, Delos, to produce Gentlemen from England, first published in 1937. It's the fictionalized story of a real nineteenth-century English colony near Fairmont, Minnesota, located not far from Maud Lovelace's hometown of Mankato. Tales of the immigrant British men and women, striving to recreate English country estates on the Minnesota prairie, intrigued the Lovelaces. The authors' thorough research became the basis for this vivid novel of colorful fox hunts, festive balls, and English family life set on the huge bean farms bought from a land speculator. A new introduction by Borealis Books editor Sarah P. Rubinstein sketches the history of the English colony and tells how the Lovelaces worked together to bring it alive in this delightful book.

Book WHO global air quality guidelines

Download or read book WHO global air quality guidelines written by Weltgesundheitsorganisation and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2021-09-07 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main objective of these updated global guidelines is to offer health-based air quality guideline levels, expressed as long-term or short-term concentrations for six key air pollutants: PM2.5, PM10, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide. In addition, the guidelines provide interim targets to guide reduction efforts of these pollutants, as well as good practice statements for the management of certain types of PM (i.e., black carbon/elemental carbon, ultrafine particles, particles originating from sand and duststorms). These guidelines are not legally binding standards; however, they provide WHO Member States with an evidence-informed tool, which they can use to inform legislation and policy. Ultimately, the goal of these guidelines is to help reduce levels of air pollutants in order to decrease the enormous health burden resulting from the exposure to air pollution worldwide.

Book Neural Network Recognition and Classification of Aerosol Particle Size Distributions

Download or read book Neural Network Recognition and Classification of Aerosol Particle Size Distributions written by Eugene Yee and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper describes the application of a neural computational network model to the pattern recognition and classification of aerodynamic particle size distributions associated with a number of environmental, bacterial, and artificial aerosols. The aerodynamic particle size distributions are measured in real-time with high resolution using a two-spot He-Ne laser velocimeter. The technique employed here for the recognition and classification of aerosols of unknown origin is based on a three-layered neural network that has been trained on a training set consisting of 75 particle size distributions obtained from three distinct types of aerosols. The training of the neural network was accomplished with the back-propagation learning algorithm. The effects of the number of processing units in the hidden layer and the level of noise corrupting the training set, the test set, and the connection weights on the learning rate and classification efficiency of the neural network are studied. The ability of the trained network to generalize from the finite number of size distributions in the training set to unknown size distributions obtained from uncertain and unfamiliar environments is investigated. The approach offers the opportunity of recognizing, classifying, and characterizing aerosol particles in real-time according to their aerodynamic particle size spectrum and its high recognition accuracy shows considerable promise for applications to rapid real-time air monitoring in the areas of occupational health and air pollution standards. Book WHO Guidelines for Indoor Air Quality

Download or read book WHO Guidelines for Indoor Air Quality written by and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2010 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents WHO guidelines for the protection of public health from risks due to a number of chemicals commonly present in indoor air. The substances considered in this review, i.e. benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, naphthalene, nitrogen dioxide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (especially benzo[a]pyrene), radon, trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene, have indoor sources, are known in respect of their hazardousness to health and are often found indoors in concentrations of health concern. The guidelines are targeted at public health professionals involved in preventing health risks of environmental exposures, as well as specialists and authorities involved in the design and use of buildings, indoor materials and products. They provide a scientific basis for legally enforceable standards.
