Book Healthy Stadia

Download or read book Healthy Stadia written by Daniel Parnell and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-07 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Public health is a key priority for developed and developing nations. Indeed, many countries have sought strategies to promote health and reduce health inequalities. A ‘settings approach’ to promoting health has been endorsed by the World Health Organization, which has seen settings such as workplaces, schools, hospitals and prisons utilised to promote health. Alongside this, sport has received increasing pressure to consider its social role within the societies and communities in which it operates. Healthy Stadia is a European focused initiative with lessons relevant for global audiences to develop: (i) healthier stadium environments for fans and non-matchday visitors (e.g. smoke-free environments), (ii) healthier club workforces (e.g. bike to work schemes) and (iii) healthier populations in local communities (e.g. child obesity interventions). This book outlines lessons and insight from practitioners and empirical research for those seeking to learn and research stadia as a settings approach to health promotion. The areas covered include: practical considerations for health promotion in sports stadia; empirical research on the sports stadia as a setting for public health promotion; research on physical activity and health promotion programmes delivered by the outward facing community trusts attached to sports clubs; an analysis of the policy considerations for health promotion by sports clubs in school based settings and critical insight and discussion surrounding the use of physical activity and sport interventions to promote physical activity and public health. The chapters in this book originally published in a special issue of Sport in Society.

Download or read book Stadia Naming Rights in Sport written by Leah Gillooly and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-05-24 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an accessible, practical, and systematic guide to stadium naming rights sponsorship within sport, designed to help practitioners and students gain a better understanding of how naming rights work and the benefits that sport and corporate organisations may get from this kind of arrangement. The book explains the key principles underpinning naming rights deals and sports sponsorship in non-specialist language for readers with little prior knowledge of the subject. Drawing on examples and case studies of naming rights sponsorships in international markets, across both professional and amateur sport, the book examines key practical issues such as how naming rights differ from other types of sponsorship, why brands should sign a naming rights deal, and how organisations can maximise their return on naming rights sponsorship. Concise, informative, and practice-focused, this book offers essential insights for all sport management practitioners, for any marketing executives considering sport sponsorship, and for any students or researchers with an interest in sport marketing, sport management, marketing, or events and facilities management.

Book Egress Modelling of Pedestrians for the Design of Contemporary Stadia

Download or read book Egress Modelling of Pedestrians for the Design of Contemporary Stadia written by John Gales and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-10 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an understanding of people's accessibility needs, and the barriers that may affect people with different identities and circumstances (e.g. different levels of mobility, age, etc.) to alleviate any act of disabling a person and thus offer equal quality of life in the design of stadia. A lack of knowledge exists for stadia concerning demographics, specific accessibility and inclusive design solutions, available movement and behavioural data, and how future growth in attending disabled populations may affect the overall safety of circulation and evacuation in stadia. To address these needs a data collection and modelling were performed and are described in this book. The book recognizes that stadia design is at a revolutionary stage of advancement. Automated data collection technologies and methodologies are described where the authors work towards presentation of big data which can be used for future refinement of modelling technologies and AI routines.
