Book Spread Spectrum Modulation by Means of Time Varying Linear Filtering

Download or read book Spread Spectrum Modulation by Means of Time Varying Linear Filtering written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time-varying linear filtering can be used to generate a broad class of spread spectrum signals which includes Direct Sequence spread spectrum as a special case. The technique is based on a fflter of arbitrary length whose impulse response changes rapidly It can spread the data signal in time as well as in frequency, thereby introducing a form of protection from errors similar to error-correcting coding and interleaving. Time-varying filter (TVF) systems can produce a broad range of noise-like waveforms and can be designed to minimize spillover into adjacent frequency regions. These properties should provide benefits in defense as well as in civilian radio communication systems.

Book Fundamentals of Spread Spectrum Modulation

Download or read book Fundamentals of Spread Spectrum Modulation written by Rodger E. Ziemer and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This lecture covers the fundamentals of spread spectrum modulation, which can be defined as any modulation technique that requires a transmission bandwidth much greater than the modulating signal bandwidth, independently of the bandwidth of the modulating signal. After reviewing basic digital modulation techniques, the principal forms of spread spectrum modulation are described. One of the most important components of a spread spectrum system is the spreading code, and several types and their characteristics are described. The most essential operation required at the receiver in a spread spectrum system is the code synchronization, which is usually broken down into the operations of acquisition and tracking. Means for performing these operations are discussed next. Finally, the performance of spread spectrum systems is of fundamental interest and the effect of jamming is considered, both without and with the use of forward error correction coding. The presentation ends with consideration of spread spectrum systems in the presence of other users. For more complete treatments of spread spectrum, the reader is referred to [1, 2, 3].

Book Simulation of Time Varying Filters for Spread Spectrum Communication

Download or read book Simulation of Time Varying Filters for Spread Spectrum Communication written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes two computer simulations which have been developed to aid in the study of time-varying filters for spread spectrum communication (Dyckman, 1995). One simulation, written to run on a Macintosh computer, allows bit-error-rate measurements to be carried out, and also allows the TVF-waveform data to be saved for analysis in Matlab. The other simulation, developed under Comdisco's Signal Processing Worksystem, allows a variety of jammers and intercept receivers to be applied to the TVF-generated waveform.

Book Spread Spectrum in Communication

Download or read book Spread Spectrum in Communication written by Reidar Skaug and published by IET. This book was released on 1985 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is devoted to advanced radiocommunication, discussing the merits and operational aspects of spread spectrum signalling. Spread spectrum modulation is emerging as one of the most important tools for combatting a wide range of problems usually encountered in radiocommunication. For military applications the signalling is able to resist difficulties deliberately introduced by an enemy, such as jamming and eavesdropping. For civil application, the efficient signal multiplexing and multipath rejection capability is of great interest. The price paid however is the need for very complex processing of the radio signals. This task put great challenges on new technologies and design, and it is only recently that operational systems have started to emerge from the laboratories. The book starts by comparing spread spectrum modulation and conventional modulation methods, and then discusses demodulation, which requires both special acquisition and synchronisation techniques. The electronic warfare scenario is introduced, discussing the principles of various spreading techniques and possible countermeasures. The coding for bandwidth spreading in a direct sequence spread spectrum system is treated by discussing the most common codes and their different figures of merit with respect to multipath, code division multiplexing and signal concealment. The book also illustrates the possible benefits, as well as limits to the use of new hardware technology to accomplish the various functions necessary for successful operation of a spread spectrum system. The effect of the propagation environment on spread spectrum is treated both analytically and through reported experiments and simulations. Finally the book considers the task of designing a complete communication network and discusses the usefulness and technology for additional interference suppressing techniques suitable to work with spread spectrum systems.

Book Optical Signal Processing

Download or read book Optical Signal Processing written by Pankaj K. Das and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject "optical signal processing" can and should include all aspects of optics and signal processing. However, that is too large a scope for a textbook that, like this one, is intended as an introduc tion to the subject at a level suitable for first year graduate students of electrical engineering, physics, and optical engineering. There fore, the subject matter has been restricted. The book begins with basic background material on optics, signal processing, matrix alge bra, ultrasound and SAWs, and CCDs. One might argue about this choice of topics. For example, there already exist very good books on matrix algebra. However, matrix algebra is so important in sig nal processing, especially in connection with devices such as optical matrix processors, that it was felt that a review was essential. Also, the matrix algebra needed for systolic arrays and parallel computing has made great advances in recent years. My original intention was to write a single-volume textbook cov ering most of the fundamental concepts and applications of optical signal processing. However, it soon became apparent that the large amount of material to be included would make publication in a single volume impracticable. Therefore this volume treats the "fundamen tals" and a second volume will appear dealing with devices and applications. This textbook was stimulated by a set of short courses that I have directed and lectured since 1976, as well as regular courses that I have taught at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute since 1974.

Book Principles of Spread Spectrum Communication Systems

Download or read book Principles of Spread Spectrum Communication Systems written by Don Torrieri and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-04-23 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook provides a concise but lucid explanation of the fundamentals of spread-spectrum systems with an emphasis on theoretical principles. The choice of specific topics is tempered by the author’s judgment of their practical significance and interest to both researchers and system designers. Throughout the book, learning is facilitated by many new or streamlined derivations of the classical theory. Problems at the end of each chapter are intended to assist readers in consolidating their knowledge and to provide practice in analytical techniques. This third edition includes new coverage of topics such as CDMA networks, Acquisition and Synchronization in DS-CDMA Cellular Networks, Hopsets for FH-CDMA Ad Hoc Networks, and Implications of Information Theory, as well as updated and revised material on Central Limit Theorem, Power Spectral Density of FH/CPM Complex Envelopes, and Anticipative Adaptive-Array Algorithm for Frequency-Hopping Systems.
