Book Spirituality Without Sin and Salvation

Download or read book Spirituality Without Sin and Salvation written by Walter Kania Ph.D. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-07-21 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The decline and fall of old-time religion is finally a reality in the U.S. According to the Pew Research Center results of May 12, 2015, the number of Americans who dont affiliate with a particular religion has grown to 56 Million. Nones are the 2nd largest faith group in the U.S. There is a new emerging consciousness of Spirituality. It is sometimes described as a search for the sacred. It can also be the substance of ones inner journey in relation to the Source from which all things come. The tired and worn mantra of traditional Protestant evangelical, fundamentalist, and Roman Catholic Christian theology called Sin and Salvation: theology has served the goals of power and control for the Church for centuries. It was a favorite tool of both political and ecclesiastical groups. Other religions also make use of dogma and authoritarian notions like sin and salvation in their efforts to exercise control, and maintain power over human behavior. The Jesus of the Christian religion was not the blood sacrifice of some malicious and sadistic God as portrayed by Mel Gibson in his movie The Passion of the Christ. If you have bought into the regressive and punitive lair of the Sin and Salvation paradigm you are in the clutches of an unhealthy religion. The field of psychology provides you with a positive and healthy means of escape from the mind control, destructive concepts of a failed theology, and a failed and fraudulent psychology of mankind. The new paradigm of healthy religion shatters the shackles of the old-time and present day religious hucksters. This new path and new paradigm will provide you with a breath of fresh air that is long overdue.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Subversive Spirituality Peterson has gathered together a host of writings penned over the past twenty-five years that reflect on the overlooked facets of the spiritual life. Comprising occasional pieces, short biblical studies, poetry, pastoral readings, and interviews, this work captures the epiphanies of life with the pleasing pastoral style and inspiring depth of insight for which Peterson is well known. Peterson describes his book this way: "This gathering of articles and essays, poems and conversations, is a kind of kitchen midden of my noticings of the obvious in the course of living out the Christian life in the vocational context of pastor, writer, and professor. The randomness and repetitions and false starts are rough edges that I am leaving as is in the interests of honesty. Spirituality is not, by and large, smooth. I do hope, however, that these pieces will be found to be freshly phrased".

Through an in-depth investigation of Galatians 3:1-4:11, Hays shows that the framework of Paul's thought is neither a system of doctrines nor his personal religious experience but the "sacred story" of Jesus Christ.

Book Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart

Download or read book Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart written by J. D. Greear and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2013-02-01 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “If there were a Guinness Book of World Records entry for ‘amount of times having prayed the sinner’s prayer,’ I’m pretty sure I’d be a top contender,” says pastor and author J. D. Greear. He struggled for many years to gain an assurance of salvation and eventually learned he was not alone. “Lack of assurance” is epidemic among evangelical Christians. In Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart, J. D. shows that faulty ways of present- ing the gospel are a leading source of the confusion. Our presentations may not be heretical, but they are sometimes misleading. The idea of “asking Jesus into your heart” or “giving your life to Jesus” often gives false assurance to those who are not saved—and keeps those who genuinely are saved from fully embracing that reality. Greear unpacks the doctrine of assurance, showing that salvation is a posture we take to the promise of God in Christ, a posture that begins at a certain point and is maintained for the rest of our lives. He also answers the tough questions about assurance: What exactly is faith? What is repentance? Why are there so many warnings that seem to imply we can lose our salvation? Such issues are handled with respect to the theological rigors they require, but Greear never loses his pastoral sensitivity or a communication technique that makes this message teachable to a wide audience from teens to adults.

Book Sin Bravely

Download or read book Sin Bravely written by Maggie Rowe and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2016-11-21 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A tour de force, voice-driven debut that examines how one woman finally found the middle ground between Heaven and Hell--an NPR Best Book of the Year. As a young girl, Maggie Rowe took the idea of salvation very seriously. Growing up in a moderately religious household, her fear of eternal damnation turned into a childhood terror that drove her to become an outrageously dedicated Born-again Christian —regularly slinging Bible verses in cutthroat scripture memorization competitions and assaulting strangers at shopping malls with the “good news” that they were going to hell. Finally, at nineteen, crippled by her fear, she checked herself in to an Evangelical psychiatric facility. And that is where her journey really began. Surrounded by a ragtag cast of characters, including a former biker meth-head struggling with anger management issues, a set of identical twins tormented by erotic fantasies, a World War II veteran and artist of denial who insists that he’s only “locked up for a tune-up,” and a warm and upbeat chronic depressive who becomes the author’s closest ally, Maggie launches a campaign to, in the words of Martin Luther, "Sin bravely in order to know the forgiveness of God."

Book Spiritual Psychology

  • Author : Walter Kania Ph.D.
  • Publisher : AuthorHouse
  • Release : 2018-12-28
  • ISBN : 1546271686
  • Pages : 245 pages

Download or read book Spiritual Psychology written by Walter Kania Ph.D. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2018-12-28 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today’s world there is a New Science and there is an Old Science. There is an Old Traditional form of Religion and there is a New form of Spirituality. There is Quantum Physics (the New Science), Epigenetics (the New Biology), an Old Psychology and a New Psychology (Spiritual or Transpersonal Psychology). Each of these New forms tell us of a world very different from that in which we have presumed to live. There are realms of reality and impacts on our genes, bodies, and behaviors never before understood. The messages that emerge in the Old and in the New are very different. There is an Old Traditional Jesus that is tied to dogma, rules, rituals, notions of separation, and exoteric practices that neglect and distort the true message of Jesus. There is a New Jesus who is the Original Jesus that you find in his esoteric (inner) messages, like the Jesus you find in A Course In Miracles. This is a Jesus whose focus is on the heart and the psychology of human nature, the human mind, and on human behavior. His true message was on what is within, and it is one of transformation, and awakening to our Transcendent Self, our true inner nature. People who have Spiritually Transformative Experiences discover that their bodies or their personalities are not who they are. They discover the essence of what it was that Jesus was teaching. Some of his teachings about our true inner nature or Transcendent Self include the following: Our Source is a Loving Essence. You are a powerful spiritual being living in a physical body. You and your Consciousness are immortal and eternal. There is a realm of reality beyond the material universe. All that is visible comes from that which is invisible. WALTER KANIA, Ph.D.
