Book Involution An Odyssey Reconciling Science to God

Download or read book Involution An Odyssey Reconciling Science to God written by P. A. Rees and published by . This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Involution- An Odyssey Reconciling Science to God. This book has been called '...a brilliant and profoundly erudite epic...a heroic intellectual tour de force...' (by David Lorimer, the Director of the Scientific and Medical Network) and both 'brave...and totally insightful (by Ervin Laszlo) but the book defies description; it breaks all the rules and is unlike any other. It is so comprehensive in its sweep, original in its writing, and its synthesis, that to isolate any aspect is to misrepresent all the others. Two companions, Reason and Soul, invite the reader to accompany them on a light-hearted poetic journey through the chronology of Western thought to uncover a bold hypothesis: that the evolution of science has been shaped by its gradual and accelerating recovery of memory (involution). That recovery has been led by the inspired maverick genius, moving backwards through time (usually called the past), but which has provided science's future at every moment of new creative thought. Scientific inspiration and its chronology mirrors evolution. This incremental excavation and transfer of memory to intellect implies the pre-human encoding (involution) of consciousness in the structure of matter, and the interconnected consciousness of all life. DNA is the likely encoding and mediating molecule, or resonant coherence of this information, through both time and space. The sweep of history is needed to expose this proposal and its evidence: It requires all the disciplines of science, all the epochs of thought: which only a poetic economy 'woven together with extraordinary subtlety' (Lorimer) could convey. Yet, paradoxically, through involution the collective journey has been lit by individuals, unique in their subjective contributions to the discipline that claims only 'objective' validated truth. The same pattern is mirrored in the congruent history of painting and musical composition. Genius differs only in the languages of expression. This book loosely weaves them all, using familiar material to arrive at an art, a science and divinity behind science. In nine swift Cantos the work travels through pre-human involution, the enfolding of consciousness in matter, and then early man's emergence on the Serengeti. Through the recorded civilizations of Greece, Rome, the Dark Ages, the Renaissance, into the Enlightenment and finally Modernism the success of science progressively obscures the internal story, the story of direct intuition, nous, experience, and the complement to Darwin that this collective involution provides. But there is more to it than merely science; for science is a language through which to follow a deeper journey, Mankind's collective journey inwards, to the nature of himself: which is why the scientific signposts are confined to end-notes to leave the poetic journey unencumbered. They take no scientific knowledge for granted: they are not essential to the poetic narrative but instead caulk the ship from which we view an alternative journey. By adding involution to evolution, mind and matter become two sides of a single coin, only perceived as distinct through the intellect's division from its deeper self, from consciousness, experience, and understanding. The co-creation of God and the universe is what this book restores and is about. It has been called a 'heroic tour de force, a brilliant and erudite epic...' but also 'clearly written and easy to read' It slaughters a few sacred cows, 'brave and a lot of fun.

Book The Religion of Tomorrow

Download or read book The Religion of Tomorrow written by Ken Wilber and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2017-05-02 with total page 817 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A provocative examination of how the great religious traditions can remain relevant in modern times by incorporating scientific truths learned about human nature over the last century A single purpose lies at the heart of all the great religious traditions: awakening to the astonishing reality of the true nature of ourselves and the universe. At the same time, through centuries of cultural accretion and focus on myth and ritual as ends in themselves, this core insight has become obscured. Here, Ken Wilber provides a path for re-envisioning a religion of the future that acknowledges the evolution of humanity in every realm while remaining faithful to that original spiritual vision. For the traditions to attract modern men and women, Wilber asserts, they must incorporate the extraordinary number of scientific truths learned about human nature in just the past hundred years—for example, about the mind and brain, emotions, and the growth of consciousness—that the ancients were simply unaware of and thus were unable to include in their meditative systems. Taking Buddhism as an example, Wilber demonstrates how his comprehensive Integral Approach—which is already being applied to several world religions by some of their adherents—can avert a “cultural disaster of unparalleled proportions”: the utter neglect of the glorious upper reaches of human potential by the materialistic postmodern worldview. Moreover, he shows how we can apply this approach to our own spiritual practice. This, his most sweeping work since Sex, Ecology, Spirituality, is a thrilling call for wholeness, inclusiveness, and unity in the religions of tomorrow.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main subject of this book is the relationship between sexual health and spiritual evolution. Specifically, the book focuses on Wilhelm Reich’s discoveries regarding sexual health and George I. Gurdjieff’s concept of spiritual evolution. The thesis is that spiritual evolution, in Gurdjieff’s sense, is not possible apart from sexual health as Reich determined it. Throughout the book, Brahinsky presents an in-depth discussion on Gurdjieff’s conception of the evolution of consciousness, sex, Reich’s discovery of the prime source biological life energy, the fundamental laws of world creation and world maintenance, the evolution and involution of consciousness, the food of impressions and the crystallization of the higher-being bodies, and finally, sexuality and evolution. Students of Reich and Gurdjieff will acquire the knowledge they need through this edifying book. Book excerpt: Is- Being - The Spiritual Evolution, illuminates the mystery and transformative potential of the evolving soul. It is a 'why to' and 'how to' of this beautiful and eternal phenomenon and explains why it is with urgency that we work towards it today. This evolution has been explored many times before, but this book strips the process back to its bones, so that we can recognise the echoes of it wherever we look, and notice the commonality, rather than the differences, between these explanations. With a refreshing vocabulary, new understanding and unique perspective, it brings clarity, illumination and accessibility to everyone. The book tries to help the reader to develop an experiential relationship with the Mystery beyond the borders of all faiths and spiritual practices, which so many of us knowingly or unknowingly seek. It points us towards this Mystery of that which 'Is', using the universal language of energy and Love. It is for the tentative beginners, the newly awakened and the seasoned travellers of all spiritual, faith and personal journeys; yes, for everyone; including people just like you... Is- Being - The Spiritual Evolution provides: *A link between religious, spiritual and secular communities. *Explains that the link between them all is love, and the cord of light to that which 'Is'; beyond, and within, any religious definition and spiritual practice. *Explains the energetic construction of the created-self, spirit-self, and soul-self and how this connects to and interacts energetically to All. *Explains how the soul evolves and why this is crucial to the evolution of humanity to create a new and beautiful world through love. Our spiritual life is a unique journey to the infinite. It is like climbing to the top of the hill where we discover our with the infinite, and with all. But our starting points at the bottom of the hill are different and unique. The way we experience the infinite, which Mel calls IS-BEING, is unique. In this book Mel describes her own unique journey and her own unique experience and thus invites everyone to make his or her own unique journey and unique experience of IS-BEING. It is a very original, creative and inspiring journey and discovery, described with almost humility and love. I wish and hope that everyone who reads this book may be inspired to take his or her spiritual journey and discover the infinite in a unique way. Br.
