Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Acceptance to Zen, Spiritual A-Z for Teens, by author Gail Christiina Barnett, offers narratives to inspire teenagers, encouraging them to think outside the box and empower them to trust themselves and their intuition. Touching on purposeful topics, Barnett offers advice and inspiration to propel teenagers into a journey of discovery of themselves and the magical world of spirituality. It’s meant as a guide of suggestions, questions, and permission to open a window into another form of thinking. Spiritual A-Z for Teens encourages teens to start believing in themselves deeply, and to allow them to access their own wisdom and knowledge to create their own life. Praise for Spiritual A-Z for Teens “Although this little volume is meant for teens, it is a valuable resource for anyone! The reflections are on important aspects of life with meaningful and simple illustrations! Because each item is short, it is in a practical twenty-first century format which can be used in a classroom, a train, or on a veranda or porch swing. These golden nuggets of insight are perfect queuing mechanisms for meditation and/or discussion. I use them in the quiet of my own meditations but find them effective before a meeting, or to begin an Energy Circle, or to begin the school day on a positive note, or even to begin a day in the hospital as a morning or midday reflection. This little book is a treasure that will never be out-of-date! Try it, you will love it.” — Father Justin Belitz

Book Soul Searching

    Book Details:
  • Author : Christian Smith
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press
  • Release : 2009-04-13
  • ISBN : 0199830827
  • Pages : 357 pages

Download or read book Soul Searching written by Christian Smith and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2009-04-13 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In innumerable discussions and activities dedicated to better understanding and helping teenagers, one aspect of teenage life is curiously overlooked. Very few such efforts pay serious attention to the role of religion and spirituality in the lives of American adolescents. But many teenagers are very involved in religion. Surveys reveal that 35% attend religious services weekly and another 15% attend at least monthly. 60% say that religious faith is important in their lives. 40% report that they pray daily. 25% say that they have been "born again." Teenagers feel good about the congregations they belong to. Some say that faith provides them with guidance and resources for knowing how to live well. What is going on in the religious and spiritual lives of American teenagers? What do they actually believe? What religious practices do they engage in? Do they expect to remain loyal to the faith of their parents? Or are they abandoning traditional religious institutions in search of a new, more authentic "spirituality"? This book attempts to answer these and related questions as definitively as possible. It reports the findings of The National Study of Youth and Religion, the largest and most detailed such study ever undertaken. The NYSR conducted a nationwide telephone survey of teens and significant caregivers, as well as nearly 300 in-depth face-to-face interviews with a sample of the population that was surveyed. The results show that religion and spirituality are indeed very significant in the lives of many American teenagers. Among many other discoveries, they find that teenagers are far more influenced by the religious beliefs and practices of their parents and caregivers than commonly thought. They refute the conventional wisdom that teens are "spiritual but not religious." And they confirm that greater religiosity is significantly associated with more positive adolescent life outcomes. This eagerly-awaited volume not only provides an unprecedented understanding of adolescent religion and spirituality but, because teenagers serve as bellwethers for possible future trends, it affords an important and distinctive window through which to observe and assess the current state and future direction of American religion as a whole.

Book Life Is Not a Candy Store It s the Way to the Candy Store

Download or read book Life Is Not a Candy Store It s the Way to the Candy Store written by Tal Yanai and published by Tal Yanai. This book was released on 2011-06 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book LIFE IS NOT a CANDY STORE; ITS THE WAY TO THE CANDY STORE is a short, 34 pages spiritual guide for teenagers and young adults. It highlights the problem of people who look for instant gratification and the lack of awareness of the pain they cause to others. The book reminds the reader that life has a higher purpose, and together, the author and the reader, travel on the road of life, exploring different situations, and the lessons which come with them. Each chapter in the book is a road sign which calls the reader to be aware of elements we face in life, and ways to deal with them. The book also provides the reader with useful tools to overcome daily problems, and live a better, more spiritual life. From dealing with the problem of lying, in the chapter Dead End Roads, to providing useful tools in the chapter Roadside Assistance, the reader explores lifes journey from a new prospective, knowing he or she is not the only one struggling, and trying to find a higher purpose in life. The unique format of this book cannot be found in other spiritual books. Also, given the fact that teenagers and young adults are constantly in a stage of doubts and confusion, I was surprised to see how little spiritual guidance is available to them. The books format makes it easy to follow, and gives the reader useful tools for spiritual growth. This book was written from personal experiences, and it is my hope that it will serve as a lighthouse for many souls.

Book Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions

Download or read book Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions written by George Barna and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2013-02-18 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No one can deny our culture is opposed to Christian values, and the influences bombarding our children's moral development are difficult to contend with. But few parents and church leaders realize that a child's moral development is set by the age of nine. It is therefore critical to start developing a child's biblical worldview from the very earliest years of life. The problem is complex: parents who themselves did not receive early spiritual training leave their children's training to the church. Yet the church often focuses on older children. The answer is for churches to come alongside parents to provide them biblical worldview training, parenting information, and counseling that will equip them to help their children become the spiritually mature church of tomorrow. This helpful and hopeful book unpacks just how to develop this kind of dynamic church/parent relationship and includes profiles of churches that are effectively ministering to children and winning the war for their hearts and minds.
