Book Spillway

Download or read book Spillway written by Deborah Jentsch and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-11-22 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SpillWay is the story of one familys journey with God in the world of a traumatic brain injury. Along with offering experiences following their sons brain injury, this true story also offers encouragement to trust God in whatever stormy circumstances the reader finds themselves in. When there is no evidence of what tomorrow holds, the book encourages one to put their trust in the one who holds tomorrow. God is revealed in some of the most difficult times when the answers to your prayers are not the answers you hoped for. SpillWay is an opportunity to see God as a refuge in times of trouble.

Book Spillway Design Step by Step

Download or read book Spillway Design Step by Step written by Geraldo Magela Pereira and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-01-20 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most dam accidents with hydroelectric plants are due to under-dimensioning of the maximum floods of spillway design, causing extravasation and dam breaks (this occurs in 23% of the accidents). This work highlights the relationship between spillway design and potential dam failure and other important aspects of these structures and presents the methodology of design based on the international experience on the subject. The book covers river basin studies and floods (the geology, geomorphology, hydrology, hydraulics, and layouts of the works). Further, spillway function, capacity and design flood, layouts, or arrangements, of hydroelectric works and types of spillways are treated in the book. Finally, the book discusses examples of dams that broke due to insufficient spillway capacity. The book is intended for engineers and the companies that design dams and power plants around the world, as well as students in dam and hydraulic engineering. In short, people interested in producing electricity that is clean and potentially cheaper than other sources.

Book Hydraulics of Stepped Chutes and Spillways

Download or read book Hydraulics of Stepped Chutes and Spillways written by Hubert Chanson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stepped channel design has been in use for more than 3,500 years. Recent advances in technology have triggered a regained interest in stepped design, although much expertise has been lost in the last 80 years. The steps significantly increase the rate of energy dissipation taking place along the chute and reduce the size of the required downstream energy dissipation basin. Stepped cascades are also used in water treatment plants to enhance the air-water transfer of atmospheric gases (e.g. oxygen, nitrogen) and of volatile organic components (VOC). Results from more than forty-five laboratory studies and four prototype investigations were re-analysed and compared. The book provides a new understanding of stepped channel hydraulics, and is aimed both at researchers and professionals.

Book Hydrology and Water Supply for Pond Aquaculture

Download or read book Hydrology and Water Supply for Pond Aquaculture written by Kyung H. Yoo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994-01-31 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1979, several graduate students in the Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures at Auburn University met with one of the authors (CEB) and asked him to teach a new course on water supply for aqua culture. They felt that information on climatology, hydrology, water distribution systems, pumps, and wells would be valuable to them. Most of these students were planning to work in commercial aquaculture in the United States or abroad, and they thought that such a cdurse would better prepare them to plan aquaculture projects and to communicate with engineers, contractors, and other specialists who often become involved in the planning and construction phases of aquaculture en deavors. The course was developed, and after a few years it was decided that more effective presentation of some of the material could be made by an engineer. The other author (KHY) accepted the challenge, and three courses on the water supply aspects of aquaculture are now offered at Auburn University. A course providing background in hydrology is followed by courses on selected topics from water supply engineering. Most graduate programs in aquaculture at other universities will even tually include similar coursework, because students need a formal intro duction to this important, yet somewhat neglected, part of aquaculture. We have written this book to serve as a text for a course in water supply for aquaculture or for individual study. The book is divided into is concerned two parts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a discussion of the latest research pertaining to the hydraulic design of spilways and to hydraulic engineering in general. It comprises the papers of a workshop organized to bring together engineers and scientists from around the world for the exchange of ideas on water flow over stepped spillways. This workshop covered a range of subjects from two-phase flow characteristics to refurbishment and implementation of spillways in existing dam structures, and the book also includes a number of illustrative case studies. Overall, this book is one of the first in the rapidly growing field of modern hydraulic engineering techniques. It will interest designers, scientists, and graduate students and researchers in the fields of hydraulic, civil and environmental engineering.
