Imprinted in my mind was the roadmap to my destination, and the directions to getting there sewn into my heart. Inga Marie is a black immigrant who finds serenity in writing poetry, and applauds its beauty and power to heal many wounds. In a debut collection she began penning over fifteen years ago, Marie shares poems that address not only her life experiences of heartbreak, pain, rejection, love, and healing, but also a variety of themes that include human rights, universal equality, faith, motherhood, and what it means to be a black woman in today’s world. Through relatable reflections that offer a safe place for others to study themselves through the lens of her thoughts, Marie encourages an awakening of the soul as she provides a lyrical snapshot into how she persevered through hard times and found her true self in the process. Spiced Black Coffee is a thought-provoking collection of poetry that shares a glimpse into a black woman’s soul as she contemplates her life journey and offers inspiration for others to do the same.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Take an evocative journey into the heart of the real Sri Lanka with intrepid photographer and writer, Bree Hutchins. With a voracious appetite for all things culinary and an undaunting spirit of adventure, Bree ventures into areas where most foreigners don't go, seeking out the hidden kitchens of Sri Lanka. On the reawakening Jaffna Peninsula, war widows cook crab curry and fry spicy snacks, while in a remote eastern village, Sumith stirs vats of smoky milk toffee over an open fire in a factory behind his home. Bamini cooks thosai for the Hindu temple feast, and old William boils up his Ceylon tea at Colombo's dawn wholesale market, just as he's done every day for sixty years. And at Monaragala Prison, in one of the poorest districts in Sri Lanka, the inmates prepare a fragrant fish curry with pol roti. Hidden Kitchens of Sri Lanka is far more than a collection of traditional recipes; stunningly vivid photographs, Bree interweaves recipes with heartfelt stories about the people who opened not only their kitchens but their homes and hearts to her, to create a moving yet hopeful picture of Sri Lanka today.

Download or read book THE COFFEE PREPARATION GUIDE written by Richard Morton and published by Richard Morton. This book was released on 2022-02-16 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: INTRODUCTION Why do we love coffee so much? Well, apart from the fact that it's super delicious! A steaming cup of coffee is the first thing millions of people reach for every morning and there are a multitude of reasons these people do so on a daily basis. The caffeine in it plays two roles in why people drink coffee. First, the caffeine in coffee helps to get people' blood moving and makes them feel energized. Early morning workers tend to rely on their coffee to help them get through their work day. The other reason caffeine is a reason that people drink coffee is that it is addictive. There are many chemicals in coffee that lend to its addictive properties and caffeine is the main one. Caffeine withdrawal can cause headaches and irritability and many people prefer not to give up their coffee. Coffee has become a very social drink similar in popularity to alcohol. Mornings at the local coffee shop are the place to hang out with friends or meet to discuss business. People tend to drink coffee at these gatherings whether or not they like it which eventually helps them to develop a taste for it and then it becomes addictive. Coffee drinkers say they drink coffee to relax. While this may seem like an oxymoron considering that coffee is a stimulant, a hot cup of decaffeinated coffee or, for some people, even regular coffee can relax the senses and help them wind down and calm their nerves. Researchers attribute the calming effect to the stimulation of the senses which aids in creativity and mental stimulus which in turn helps calm some people down.
