  • Author : Daniel Bump
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2004-06-17
  • ISBN : 9780387211541

Download or read book Lie Groups written by Daniel Bump and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-06-17 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book proceeds beyond the representation theory of compact Lie groups (which is the basis of many texts) and offers a carefully chosen range of material designed to give readers the bigger picture. It explores compact Lie groups through a number of proofs and culminates in a "topics" section that takes the Frobenius-Schur duality between the representation theory of the symmetric group and the unitary groups as unifying them.

The eBook can be downloaded electronically for free. This volume contains the proceedings of the LuCaNT (LMFDB, Computation, and Number Theory) conference held from July 10–14, 2023, at the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM), Providence, Rhode Island and affiliated with Brown University. This conference provided an opportunity for researchers, scholars, and practitioners to exchange ideas, share advances, and collaborate in the fields of computation, mathematical databases, number theory, and arithmetic geometry. The papers that appear in this volume record recent advances in these areas, with special focus on the LMFDB (the L-Functions and Modular Forms Database), an online resource for mathematical objects arising in the Langlands program and the connections between them.

Book Geometric Methods in Physics

Download or read book Geometric Methods in Physics written by Piotr Kielanowski and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2016-07-28 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book features a selection of articles based on the XXXIV Białowieża Workshop on Geometric Methods in Physics, 2015. The articles presented are mathematically rigorous, include important physical implications and address the application of geometry in classical and quantum physics. Special attention deserves the session devoted to discussions of Gerard Emch's most important and lasting achievements in mathematical physics. The Białowieża workshops are among the most important meetings in the field and gather participants from mathematics and physics alike. Despite their long tradition, the Workshops remain at the cutting edge of ongoing research. For the past several years, the Białowieża Workshop has been followed by a School on Geometry and Physics, where advanced lectures for graduate students and young researchers are presented. The unique atmosphere of the Workshop and School is enhanced by the venue, framed by the natural beauty of the Białowieża forest in eastern Poland.

Book Automorphic Forms on Adele Groups AM 83 Volume 83

Download or read book Automorphic Forms on Adele Groups AM 83 Volume 83 written by Stephen S. Gelbart and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume investigates the interplay between the classical theory of automorphic forms and the modern theory of representations of adele groups. Interpreting important recent contributions of Jacquet and Langlands, the author presents new and previously inaccessible results, and systematically develops explicit consequences and connections with the classical theory. The underlying theme is the decomposition of the regular representation of the adele group of GL(2). A detailed proof of the celebrated trace formula of Selberg is included, with a discussion of the possible range of applicability of this formula. Throughout the work the author emphasizes new examples and problems that remain open within the general theory. TABLE OF CONTENTS: 1. The Classical Theory 2. Automorphic Forms and the Decomposition of L2(PSL(2,R) 3. Automorphic Forms as Functions on the Adele Group of GL(2) 4. The Representations of GL(2) over Local and Global Fields 5. Cusp Forms and Representations of the Adele Group of GL(2) 6. Hecke Theory for GL(2) 7. The Construction of a Special Class of Automorphic Forms 8. Eisenstein Series and the Continuous Spectrum 9. Book Weyl Group Multiple Dirichlet Series

Download or read book Weyl Group Multiple Dirichlet Series written by Ben Brubaker and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2011-07-05 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Weyl group multiple Dirichlet series are generalizations of the Riemann zeta function. Like the Riemann zeta function, they are Dirichlet series with analytic continuation and functional equations, having applications to analytic number theory. By contrast, these Weyl group multiple Dirichlet series may be functions of several complex variables and their groups of functional equations may be arbitrary finite Weyl groups. Furthermore, their coefficients are multiplicative up to roots of unity, generalizing the notion of Euler products. This book proves foundational results about these series and develops their combinatorics. These interesting functions may be described as Whittaker coefficients of Eisenstein series on metaplectic groups, but this characterization doesn't readily lead to an explicit description of the coefficients. The coefficients may be expressed as sums over Kashiwara crystals, which are combinatorial analogs of characters of irreducible representations of Lie groups. For Cartan Type A, there are two distinguished descriptions, and if these are known to be equal, the analytic properties of the Dirichlet series follow. Proving the equality of the two combinatorial definitions of the Weyl group multiple Dirichlet series requires the comparison of two sums of products of Gauss sums over lattice points in polytopes. Through a series of surprising combinatorial reductions, this is accomplished. The book includes expository material about crystals, deformations of the Weyl character formula, and the Yang-Baxter equation.

Book Level One Algebraic Cusp Forms of Classical Groups of Small Rank

Download or read book Level One Algebraic Cusp Forms of Classical Groups of Small Rank written by Gaëtan Chenevier and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-08-21 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors determine the number of level 1, polarized, algebraic regular, cuspidal automorphic representations of GLn over Q of any given infinitesimal character, for essentially all n≤8. For this, they compute the dimensions of spaces of level 1 automorphic forms for certain semisimple Z-forms of the compact groups SO7, SO8, SO9 (and G2) and determine Arthur's endoscopic partition of these spaces in all cases. They also give applications to the 121 even lattices of rank 25 and determinant 2 found by Borcherds, to level one self-dual automorphic representations of GLn with trivial infinitesimal character, and to vector valued Siegel modular forms of genus 3. A part of the authors' results are conditional to certain expected results in the theory of twisted endoscopy.

Book Automorphic Representations and L Functions for the General Linear Group Volume 1

Download or read book Automorphic Representations and L Functions for the General Linear Group Volume 1 written by Dorian Goldfeld and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-04-21 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This graduate-level textbook provides an elementary exposition of the theory of automorphic representations and L-functions for the general linear group in an adelic setting. Definitions are kept to a minimum and repeated when reintroduced so that the book is accessible from any entry point, and with no prior knowledge of representation theory. The book includes concrete examples of global and local representations of GL(n), and presents their associated L-functions. In Volume 1, the theory is developed from first principles for GL(1), then carefully extended to GL(2) with complete detailed proofs of key theorems. Several proofs are presented for the first time, including Jacquet's simple and elegant proof of the tensor product theorem. In Volume 2, the higher rank situation of GL(n) is given a detailed treatment. Containing numerous exercises by Xander Faber, this book will motivate students and researchers to begin working in this fertile field of research.
