Book excerpt: Spelt-Dreams is a combined cookery and baking book, whose hand-picked and delicious recipes are divided into the following subgroups: - Breads and Bread Rolls - Dumplings, Spaetzle (Swabian Noodles) - Main Meals - hearty and sweet - from remaining dumplings or spaetzle - with spelt flour - with spelt breadcrumbs - with spelt semolina - Cakes and Pies - Cookies and Biscuits Since self-made things take up time, it often makes sense to make a larger amount of bread or rolls or spaetzle at the same time. As an alternative to freezing, the remaining quantities can be planned sensibly and tasty from the outset. For example, you can use leftover, home-baked spelt rolls to make delicious bread dumplings. Leftover bread dumplings can be transformed into particularly tasty main dishes, such as roasted dumplings or sour dumplings. The same applies to homemade spelt spaetzle, which not only make a great roast side dish, but also cut a particularly good figure as cheese spaetzle with a side salad. For all those who like southern German or Austrian specialties. With many delicious recipes from the Alpine region. Of course, there are also delicious examples of sweet main meals, such as spelt semolina porridge and many other sweet delicacies such as cookies, biscuits, cakes and tarts. Everything prepared with spelt flour or spelt semolina - just spelt dreams! All ingredients are converted into cups or teaspoons etc. The baking temperature is shown in 3 different ways: in °F top/bottom heat as well as in °C top/bottom heat or in °C convection.

Book Understanding Dreams in Clinical Practice

Download or read book Understanding Dreams in Clinical Practice written by Marcus West and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a simple, effective and illuminating way of understanding and working with dreams in clinical practice. It describes the mechanisms through which the mind/brain processes our experience and forms symbols, which embody a rich network of associations. It demonstrates how the dream and this network of associations can apply on a number of levels and thus shows how the full richness and vital importance of dreams, their meanings and purposes, can be explored. The book also explores the history, theory and science of dreams and dreaming. It reviews the debates between, and contributions from, Freud, Jung and other psychoanalysts, as well as the developments and discoveries from neuroscientists and dream laboratories, bringing the subject right up to date. Whilst the book primarily uses Jungian terminology, and highly values Jung's insights and approach to dreams, it gives a critical, contemporary account of the whole field of dream work and will be useful to practitioners of all theoretical persuasions.

Wilmovsky writes: "We need to focus on the promotion of our health, not the recovery of our health...The wellness business is proactive. People voluntarily become customers--to feel healthier, to reduce the effects of aging, and to avoid becoming customers of the sickness business." It is generally higher in protein, easier to digest and has a much broader spectrum of nutrients than our modern inbred wheat. What’s more, it contains plant lignans, which are thought to help prevent various diseases and ailments, including bowel cancer, heart disease and asthma. Once widely grown in Europe, and used in the Bronze Age, spelt is a versatile grain, as well as being super-healthy. Book Real Cities

  • Author : Steve Pile
  • Publisher : SAGE Publications Limited
  • Release : 2005-05-01
  • ISBN : 9780761970415
  • Pages : 236 pages

Download or read book Real Cities written by Steve Pile and published by SAGE Publications Limited. This book was released on 2005-05-01 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is real about city life? Real Cities shows why it is necessary to take seriously the more imaginary, fantastic and emotional aspects of city life. Drawing inspiration from the work of Walter Benjamin, Sigmund Freud and Georg Simmel, Pile explores the dream-like and ghost-like experiences of the city. Such experiences are, he argues, best described as phantasmagorias. The phantasmagorias of city life, though commonplace, are far from self-evident and little understood. This book is a path-breaking exploration of urban phantasmagorias, grounded empirically in a series of unusual and exciting case studies. In this study, four substantial phantasmagorias are identified: dreams, magic, vampires and ghosts. The investigation of each phantasmagoria is developed using a wide variety of clear examples. Thus, voodoo in New York and New Orleans shows how ideas about magic are forged within cities. Meanwhile vampires reveal how specific fears about sex and death are expressed within, and circulate between, cities such as London and Singapore. Taken together, such examples build a unique picture of the diverse roles of the imaginary, fantastic and the emotional in modern city life. What is "real" about the city has radical consequences for how we think about improving city life, for all too often these are over-looked in utopian schemes for the city. Real Cities forcefully argues that an appreciation of urban phantasmagorias must be central to what is considered real about city life.
