Book Determination of Primary zone Smoke Concentrations from Spectral Radiance Measurements in Gas Turbine Combustors

Download or read book Determination of Primary zone Smoke Concentrations from Spectral Radiance Measurements in Gas Turbine Combustors written by Carl T. Norgren and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The smoke concentration within the primary zone of an experimental combustor operating at pressures up to 20 atmospheres was determined with a technique using spectral radiance measurements. Exhaust smoke concentration was obtained from reflectance readings of stained filter paper. The primary zone smoke concentration was of the order of 100 to 1000 times greater than at the exhaust. The smoke oxidation rate obtained is compared with reported values for coal particles and seeded laboratory flames. Primary zone smoke concentration was shown to be related to exhaust smoke number and total radiance.

Book Applied Optics and Opto electronics 1998 Proceedings of the Applied Optics Divisional Conference of the Institute of Physics held at Brighton 16 19 March 1998

Download or read book Applied Optics and Opto electronics 1998 Proceedings of the Applied Optics Divisional Conference of the Institute of Physics held at Brighton 16 19 March 1998 written by Grattan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent years have seen a rapid growth in the field of applied optics and optoelectronics, mostly from the standpoints of industrial applications and research. This has largely been due to the advantages that optical technology offers in a wide range of situations and thus the research into and anticipation of future applications is an area that is subject to considerable international interest. Applied Optics and Optoelectronics 1998 incorporates a broad spectrum of scientists and engineers from around the world. The book includes contributions from the IOP Optical Group, Instrument Science and Technology Group, and the Fringe Analysis Special Interest Group, and the wide range of contents reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the subject that will help to facilitate the cross fertilization of ideas within the community. The proceedings comprise papers from the following program streams: optics; actuators, sensors, and instrumentation; fringe analysis; and underwater optics.

Book Thermal Radiation Heat Transfer Fourth Edition

Download or read book Thermal Radiation Heat Transfer Fourth Edition written by Robert Siegel and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2001-12-07 with total page 898 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This extensively revised 4th edition provides an up-to-date, comprehensive single source of information on the important subjects in engineering radiative heat transfer. It presents the subject in a progressive manner that is excellent for classroom use or self-study, and also provides an annotated reference to literature and research in the field. The foundations and methods for treating radiative heat transfer are developed in detail, and the methods are demonstrated and clarified by solving example problems. The examples are especially helpful for self-study. The treatment of spectral band properties of gases has been made current and the methods are described in detail and illustrated with examples. The combination of radiation with conduction and/or convection has been given more emphasis nad has been merged with results for radiation alone that serve as a limiting case; this increases practicality for energy transfer in translucent solids and fluids. A comprehensive catalog of configuration factors on the CD that is included with each book provides over 290 factors in algebraic or graphical form. Homework problems with answers are given in each chapter, and a detailed and carefully worked solution manual is available for instructors.

Book Thermal Radiative Transfer and Properties

Download or read book Thermal Radiative Transfer and Properties written by M. Quinn Brewster and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1992-04-16 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not only enables readers to include radiation as part of their design and analysis but also appreciate the radiative transfer processes in both nature and engineering systems. Offers two distinguishing features--a whole chapter devoted to the classical dispersion theory which lays a foundation for the discussion of radiative properties presented throughout and a detailed description of particle radiative properties, including real particle size distribution effects. Presents numerous realistic and instructive illustrations and problems involving current topics such as planetary heat transfer, satellite thermal control, atmospheric radiation, radiation in industrial and propulsion combustion systems and more.

Book Interstellar Processes

  • Author : D.J. Hollenbach
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 9400938616
  • Pages : 817 pages

Download or read book Interstellar Processes written by D.J. Hollenbach and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 817 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea for an international symposium on the interstellar medium was first discussed at the University of Wyoming during the summer of 1984. It was obvious that the outstanding natural beauty of the Teton mountain range in northwestern Wyoming must be matched by a meeting with the broadest appeal to the astronomical community. If the meeting was to produce a book, it must likewise be an important contribution to the astronomical literature. It was for these reasons that early in the discussions, it was decided that the University should host a "school". with the invited speakers presenting tutorials on a broad range of topics involving the interstellar medium. The symposium proceedings would then be a compilation of the written versions of these presentations. It has been nearly a decade since Lyman Spitzer published his classic text on the interstellar medium and we felt the need for a school and book that would focus on the recent developments in our understanding of the inter stellar medium. Thus, we view this two-volume set as an adjunct text to Spitzer's book.
