Book Stability and Control of Dynamical Systems with Applications

Download or read book Stability and Control of Dynamical Systems with Applications written by Derong Liu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is with great pleasure that I offer my reflections on Professor Anthony N. Michel's retirement from the University of Notre Dame. I have known Tony since 1984 when he joined the University of Notre Dame's faculty as Chair of the Depart ment of Electrical Engineering. Tony has had a long and outstanding career. As a researcher, he has made im portant contributions in several areas of systems theory and control theory, espe cially stability analysis of large-scale dynamical systems. The numerous awards he received from the professional societies, particularly the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), are a testament to his accomplishments in research. He received the IEEE Control Systems Society's Best Transactions Paper Award (1978), and the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society's Guillemin-Cauer Prize Paper Award (1984) and Myril B. Reed Outstanding Paper Award (1993), among others. In addition, he was a Fulbright Scholar (1992) and received the Alexander von Hum boldt Forschungspreis (Alexander von Humboldt Research Award for Senior U.S. Scientists) from the German government (1997). To date, he has written eight books and published over 150 archival journal papers. Tony is also an effective administrator who inspires high academic standards.

Book Instrument Engineers Handbook Volume Two

Download or read book Instrument Engineers Handbook Volume Two written by Bela G. Liptak and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 2460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The latest update to Bela Liptak's acclaimed "bible" of instrument engineering is now available. Retaining the format that made the previous editions bestsellers in their own right, the fourth edition of Process Control and Optimization continues the tradition of providing quick and easy access to highly practical information. The authors are practicing engineers, not theoretical people from academia, and their from-the-trenches advice has been repeatedly tested in real-life applications. Expanded coverage includes descriptions of overseas manufacturer's products and concepts, model-based optimization in control theory, new major inventions and innovations in control valves, and a full chapter devoted to safety. With more than 2000 graphs, figures, and tables, this all-inclusive encyclopedic volume replaces an entire library with one authoritative reference. The fourth edition brings the content of the previous editions completely up to date, incorporates the developments of the last decade, and broadens the horizons of the work from an American to a global perspective. Béla G. Lipták speaks on Post-Oil Energy Technology on the AT&T Tech Channel.

Book Control Using Logic Based Switching

Download or read book Control Using Logic Based Switching written by A.Stephen Morse and published by Springer. This book was released on 1997 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A logic-based switching controller is one whose subsystems include not only familiar dynamical components such as integrators, summers, gains etc. but event-driven logic and associated switches as well. In such a system the predominantly logical component is the supervisor, mode changer, etc. There has been growing interest in recent years in determining what could be gained from utilising "hybrid" controllers of this type. To this end a workshop was held on Block Island with the aim of bringing together individuals to discuss the research and common interest in the field. This volume not only includes contributions from those who were present at Block Island but also additional material from those who were not. Topics covered include: hybrid dynamical systems, control of hard-bound constrained and nonlinear systems, automotive problems involving switching control and system control in the face of large-scale modeling errors.
