Book excerpt: This book provides an overview of a series of advanced research lines in robotics as well as of design and development methodologies for intelligent robots and their intelligent components. It represents a selection of extended versions of the best papers presented at the Seventh IEEE International Workshop on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems: Technology and Applications IDAACS 2013 that were related to these topics. Its contents integrate state of the art computational intelligence based techniques for automatic robot control to novel distributed sensing and data integration methodologies that can be applied to intelligent robotics and automation systems. The objective of the text was to provide an overview of some of the problems in the field of robotic systems and intelligent automation and the approaches and techniques that relevant research groups within this area are employing to try to solve them. The contributions of the different authors have been grouped into four main sections: RobotsControl and IntelligenceSensingCollaborative automation The chapters have been structured to provide an easy to follow introduction to the topics that are addressed, including the most relevant references, so that anyone interested in this field can get started in the area.

Book Emergent Trends in Robotics and Intelligent Systems

Download or read book Emergent Trends in Robotics and Intelligent Systems written by Peter Sinčák and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-10-03 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the Role of Intelligent Technologies in the Next Generation of Robots ? This monograph gives answers to this question and presents emergent trends of Intelligent Systems and Robotics. After an introductory chapter celebrating 70 year of publishing the McCulloch Pitts model the book consists of the 2 parts „Robotics“ and „Intelligent Systems“. The aim of the book is to contribute to shift conventional robotics in which the robots perform repetitive, pre-programmed tasks to its intelligent form, where robots possess new cognitive skills with ability to learn and adapt to changing environment. A main focus is on Intelligent Systems, which show notable achievements in solving various problems in intelligent robotics. The book presents current trends and future directions bringing together Robotics and Computational Intelligence. The contributions include widespread experimental and theoretical results on intelligent robotics such as e.g. autonomous robotics, new robotic platforms, or talking robots.

Book Control and Systems Engineering

Download or read book Control and Systems Engineering written by Aly El-Osery and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-03-19 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a tribute to 40 years of contributions by Professor Mo Jamshidi who is a well known and respected scholar, researcher, and educator. Mo Jamshidi has spent his professional career formalizing and extending the field of large-scale complex systems (LSS) engineering resulting in educating numerous graduates specifically, ethnic minorities. He has made significant contributions in modeling, optimization, CAD, control and applications of large-scale systems leading to his current global role in formalizing system of systems engineering (SoSE), as a new field. His books on complex LSS and SoSE have filled a vacuum in cyber-physical systems literature for the 21st Century. His contributions to ethnic minority engineering education commenced with his work at the University of New Mexico (UNM, Tier-I Hispanic Serving Institution) in 1980 through a NASA JPL grant. Followed by several more major federal grants, he formalized a model for educating minorities, called VI-P Pyramid where K-12 students(bottom of pyramid) to doctoral (top of pyramid) students form a seamless group working on one project. Upper level students mentor lower ones on a sequential basis. Since 1980, he has graduated over 114 minority students consisting of 62 Hispanics, 34 African Americans., 15 Native Americans, and 3 Pacific Islanders. This book contains contributed chapters from colleagues, and former and current students of Professor Jamshidi. Areas of focus are: control systems, energy and system of systems, robotics and soft computing.

Book Neural Networks in Robotics

Download or read book Neural Networks in Robotics written by George Bekey and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1992-11-30 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neural Networks in Robotics is the first book to present an integrated view of both the application of artificial neural networks to robot control and the neuromuscular models from which robots were created. The behavior of biological systems provides both the inspiration and the challenge for robotics. The goal is to build robots which can emulate the ability of living organisms to integrate perceptual inputs smoothly with motor responses, even in the presence of novel stimuli and changes in the environment. The ability of living systems to learn and to adapt provides the standard against which robotic systems are judged. In order to emulate these abilities, a number of investigators have attempted to create robot controllers which are modelled on known processes in the brain and musculo-skeletal system. Several of these models are described in this book. On the other hand, connectionist (artificial neural network) formulations are attractive for the computation of inverse kinematics and dynamics of robots, because they can be trained for this purpose without explicit programming. Some of the computational advantages and problems of this approach are also presented. For any serious student of robotics, Neural Networks in Robotics provides an indispensable reference to the work of major researchers in the field. Similarly, since robotics is an outstanding application area for artificial neural networks, Neural Networks in Robotics is equally important to workers in connectionism and to students for sensormonitor control in living systems.

The III International and XV National edition will be a chance to discuss clinical conditions which are unusual, rare, or difficult to define. Many consolidated national and international research groups will be involved in the debate and discussion through special guest lecturers, academic dissertations, single clinical case presentations, posters, and degree thesis discussions. The SIPMO Congress took place from the 17th to the 19th of October 2019 in Bari (Italy), and the enclosed copy of Proceedings is a non-exhaustive collection of abstracts from the SIPMO 2019 contributions.
