Book Temperature Salinity and Sigma t Along the Standard Flemish Cap Transect

Download or read book Temperature Salinity and Sigma t Along the Standard Flemish Cap Transect written by E. B. Colbourne and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review of the spatial and temporal distribution of the historical oceanographic data set on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and on Flemish Cap along the standard NAFO Flemish Cap transect is presented. A brief descriptive analysis of various indices describing the temperature field along the transect is presented, including a discussion of the 1951 to 1995 time series of the cross-sectional area of the Cold Intermediate Layer.

Book Temperature Salinity and Sigma t Along the Standard Seal Island Transect

Download or read book Temperature Salinity and Sigma t Along the Standard Seal Island Transect written by Canada. Department of Fisheries and Oceans. Science and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report reviews the spatial and temporal distribution of the historical oceanographic data on Hamilton Bank along the continental shelf portion of the Seal Island-southern tip of Greenland transect. The report presents a brief descriptive analysis of various indices describing the temperature field along the transect, including a discussion of the 1928-94 time series of the cross-sectional area of the cold intermediate layer. Annual time-series of temperature, salinity, and density (sigma-t) are presented for the inshore, mid-shelf, and offshore areas of the transect based on all data available from 1928 to 1994. In addition, there are monthly averaged vertical cross-sections for the period 1928-94 as well as monthly transects by year.

Book Physical Oceanographic Conditions on the Newfoundland and Labrador Shelf During 2002

Download or read book Physical Oceanographic Conditions on the Newfoundland and Labrador Shelf During 2002 written by Eugene B. Colbourne and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents an overview of physical oceanographic conditions in the Newfoundland & Labrador regions during 2002, with a comparison to long-term average conditions based on historical data. Where possible, the long-term averages are standardized to a base period from 1971 to 2000 in accordance with the convention of the World Meteorological Organization. The information is derived from observations made at oceanographic stations, along standard cross-shelf sections, and during multi-species research vessel surveys. Parameters measured include temperature, salinity, temperature & salinity anomalies, dissolved oxygen saturation, and geostrophic currents.

Book Remote Sensing of the Changing Oceans

Download or read book Remote Sensing of the Changing Oceans written by DanLing Tang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-03-24 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Remote Sensing of the Changing Oceans is a comprehensive account of the basic concepts, theories, methods and applications used in ocean satellite remote sensing. The book provides a synthesis of various new ideas and theories and discusses a series of key research topics in oceanic manifestation of global changes as viewed from space. A variety of research methods used in the analysis and modeling of global changes are introduced in detail along with numerous examples from around the world’s oceans. The authors review the changing oceans at different levels, including Global and Regional Observations, Natural Hazards, Coastal Environment and related scientific issues, all from the unique perspective of Satellite Observation Systems. Thus, the book not only introduces the basics of the changing oceans, but also new developments in satellite remote sensing technology and international cooperation in this emerging field. Danling Tang (Lingzis) received her Ph.D from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She conducted research and teaching in Hong Kong, USA, Japan, and South Korea for more than 10 years; in 2004, she received “100 Talents Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences” and returned to China. She was a professor of Fudan University, and now is a Leading Professor of “Remote Sensing of Marine Ecology and Environment” at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Tang has been working on satellite remote sensing of marine ecology and environment; her major research interests include ocean dynamics of phytoplankton bloom, global environmental changes, and natural hazards. Dr. Tang has organized several international conferences, workshops, and training, she also services as member of organizing committee for several international scientific organizations; she was the Chairman of the 9th Pan Ocean Remote Sensing Conference (PORSEC 2008), and currently is the President-elect of PORSEC Association.
