Download or read book Metallogenic Mechanism of the Galinge Polymetallic Iron Skarn Deposit Qiman Tagh Mountains Qinghai Province written by Miao Yu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-15 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis summarizes the metallogenetic mechanism of the Galinge skarn deposit based on integrated knowledge of tectonics, geochemistry, geochronology, petrology, mineralogy, thermodynamics and hydrothermal fluids. It also discusses the multistage growth characteristics of various skarn minerals in which the varying compositions reflect the evolution of the hydrothermal fluid. The multidisciplinary nature of this research sheds new light on reconstructing metallogenetic processes successfully. It outlines the main aspects of skarn zonation based on the dominant contents of the skarn minerals and the wall rock compositions. In addition, it focuses on volatile-rich minerals including tourmaline and hastingsite, highlighting the importance of the volatile component in the skarn deposit. Lastly, it describes the regional tectonic–magmatic evolutionary history to explain the metallogenic principles, which can be used to guide prospecting in the field.

Download or read book An Introduction to Saline Lakes on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau written by Zheng Mianping and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1956 the author has been making extensive and detailed investigations of saline lakes on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau. On the basis of large amounts of reliable first-hand data and multidisciplinary analysis, the book deals with the temporal-spatial evolution of the plateau saline lakes and the prospects for inorganic salts and organic resources and their exploitation and protection, as well as the relationships between saline lakes and global changes. This book is the first English monograph on saline lakes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau - the `Roof of the World'. Compared with books about saline lakes in other areas of the world, this monograph is written in a multidisciplinary, comprehensive and systematic way. It may be used by graduate students, teachers, researchers, field geologists and engineers as a reference book in research, teaching, etc.
Download or read book Water Related Natural Disasters in Mountainous Area volume II written by Jia-wen Zhou and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-03-13 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In mountainous areas, due to the unique geological and topographical conditions, and along with the impact of global climate change, extreme rainfall events often occur and induce natural disasters such as flash floods, debris flows, landslides, dammed lakes and others. These water-related natural disasters (WRNDs) frequently occur around the world, such as the July 29th 1998 debris flow and landslide dam at Capricorn Creek in Mount Meager Volcanic Complex (southern Canada), the flash flood of 20th August 2018 in Raganello Gorge (southern Italy), and the 2007 summer floods in the United Kingdom. WRNDs are more serious in Southeast Asia particularly in Southwest China, where many places suffer from such disasters in the flood season every year, such as the May 20th 2012 flash flood/debris flow among the hit area of Wenchuan earthquake, the June 24th 2017 Xinmo Catastrophic landslide in Mao county and in 2018 the two sequential landslide-dammed lake events at Jinsha River. These WRNDs not only cause heavy casualties and property losses but also destroy the ecological environment. These WRNDs are not only the concern of government managers and engineers, but also deserve more in-depth study from researchers. Formation and evolution mechanisms of WRNDs are very complicated, and influenced by several aspects, such as geological and topographical conditions, hydrometeorological conditions, geomaterial properties, rainfall history and flow condition, and others. Field and laboratory tests can help us to better understand the related mechanism behind the disasters. Theoretical and empirical models, modeling and numerical methods can provide more reasonable evaluation and forecasting results of WRNDs, but a more in-depth understanding is needed. Furthermore, for the risk control and hazard prevention and mitigation, new equipment and technologies have been developed and have achieved some progress in recent years, but the fast and effective emergency treatments for WRNDs need more attention.
Download or read book Ultrahigh Pressure Metamorphism written by Larissa Dobrzhinetskaya and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-03-15 with total page 697 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ultrahigh Pressure Metamorphism (UHPM) is a fast growing discipline that was established 25 years ago after discoveries of high pressure minerals, coesite and diamonds. The current explosion of research on UHMP terranes reflects their significance for understanding large scale mantle dynamics, major elements of plate tectonics such as continental collisions, deep subduction and exhumation, mountains building, geochemical recycling 'from surface to the core', and a deep storage of light elements participating in green-house effects in the atmosphere. This book provides insights into the formation of diamond and coesite at very high pressures and explores new ideas regarding the tectonic setting of this style of metamorphism. - Important, authoritative and comprehensive one-stop resource for the growing ultrahigh pressure metamorphism UHPM research community - A forward-looking approach founded upon a detailed historical perspective on UHPM presents the trends in discovery, methodology and theory over the last 25 years, allowing readers to gain a clear understanding of the current trends and the approaches that will shape the science in the future - A highly diverse set of articles, covering a wide range of methods and sub-disciplines

Download or read book Tectono Magmatism Metallogenesis and Sedimentation at Convergent Margins written by Meng Wang and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-10-31 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Convergent plate margins are important places for material and energy recycling of the Earth, in particular major sites for continental growth, reworking, and recycling. They exhibit as narrow belt structure in the rigid outer layer of the Earth, corresponding to subduction zones at lithospheric mantle depths and orogenic belts at crustal depths. The type, geometry, and thermal structure of subduction zones have critical impacts on subduction processes and nature of products, resulting in a variety of magmatic rocks and ore deposits at convergent margins. Identification and classification of the physical structure and chemical variation at convergent margins as well as confirming their correlation with specific subduction types and stages are of pivotality to understand the spatiotemporal interaction between asthenosphere and lithosphere in orogenic belts. For places where magmatic arcs get partially or entirely destroyed by surface and/or subduction erosion, adjacent sedimentary rocks are ideal geological records for paleotectonic reconstruction.
