Book excerpt: "In Uncharted, internationally acclaimed intuitive counselor and "spiritual cartographer" Colette Baron Reid, whose best-selling books include The Map and Messages from Spirit, shows us that in the new normal of uncertainty, we can overcome the challenge of feeling disoriented, scared, and helpless and chart a path to new possibilities. It's in the places unfamiliar to us--the uncharted places--where magic lies. Here we can claim our innate power to give birth to an extraordinary life and become who we are called to become. Colette explains, "When we're lost, we all want a map--but maps can only tell us where we've been." All of us, personally and collectively, are headed somewhere new, to a future that has not yet been imagined, and we're creating it as we go. With her trademark compassionate candor and reassuring humor, as well as input from a wise, loving consciousness who call themselves "Fred," Colette guides us on a journey of co-creation through five interconnected realms--the Realms of Spirit, Mind, Light, and Energy, Form. Whatever we wish to experience and manifest, if we start in the realm of Form, trying to fix our lives and think our way out of our problems, we end up living inauthentically and feeling disappointed. But if we orient ourselves in the Realm of Spirit first, a magical process of transformation begins within, from which we can manifest a new reality far better than we might ever have imagined. Following this path, we get to experience what we came to create in the Realm of Form, and watch as our fear gives way to a deep sense of purpose and enthusiasm for participating in the co-creative process. Throughout Uncharted are fresh and exciting exercises drawn from Colette's trademarked energy psychology process, IN-Vizion

Star Prince and Ms. Omni might be fictional, but they saved her as much as any living hero could. When Dad surprises her with a copy of the latest and greatest video game set in the Star Prince Universe, Kelly dives right in, too excited to think. Alas, diving in turns out to be far more literal than she expected. Übergirl and her best friend Paige—a.k.a Will-O-Wisp—end up stranded inside the MegaStation, helpless to interfere while Dad puts together a most nefarious plan. If the girls cannot defeat the virtual Dr. Infinity in time to escape, her father’s orbital machine will rain down an unimaginable horror on innocent people… adding pineapple to every pizza on Earth.

Book Sin Essays on the Moral Tradition in the Western Middle Ages

Download or read book Sin Essays on the Moral Tradition in the Western Middle Ages written by Richard Newhauser and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-07-28 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Richard Newhauser examines here aspects of the moral tradition of medieval thought, specifically the construction of the seven deadly sins, their offspring, and related schematizations of immorality in the Latin West. The emphasis in these studies is on the malleability of moral categories, their relationship to changes in medieval culture, and the creativity and sensitivity of the thinkers who made use of the concepts of sinfulness in the Middle Ages. The first section examines the contexts in which the seven deadly sins (or nine accessory sins) are found in medieval Latin, English, and German texts, and in particular the genre of the treatise on vices and virtues as the major vehicle in which concepts of immorality were examined and presented to a variety of audiences for meditative or pastoral purposes. The second section deals with one of the more interesting of the seven deadly sins, avarice, in its penitential, literary, apocalyptic, and institutional contexts, as its definition changed slowly with developing commercial experiences in medieval Europe. In the last section the breadth of the concept of a sinful curiosity is examined, and its historical development is delineated in the thought of Augustine of Hippo and the early Cistercians.

Download or read book The Envy of Angels written by C. Stephen Jaeger and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2013-08-31 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Before the rise of universities, cathedral schools educated students in a course of studies aimed at perfecting their physical presence, their manners, and their eloquence. The formula of cathedral schools was "letters and manners" (litterae et mores), which asserts a pedagogic program as broad as the modern "letters and science." The main instrument of what C. Stephen Jaeger calls "charismatic pedagogy" was the master's personality, his physical presence radiating a transforming force to his students. In The Envy of Angels, Jaeger explores this intriguing chapter in the history of ideas and higher learning and opens a new view of intellectual and social life in eleventh- and early twelfth-century Europe.

Book Our Trees of Life

  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2015-11-20
  • ISBN : 1498233317
  • Pages : 149 pages

Download or read book Our Trees of Life written by Christine Graef and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-11-20 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's word begins with the tree of life and the tree of knowledge watered by a river nourishing Eden. As it ends with the image of a tree by a river appearing in heaven, the redeemed who have stood as "a tree planted by streams of water, bringing the fruits of the spirit, and birds and animals of every kind find shelter" are healed by its leaves. In the ecology of trees, we find the believer, rooted in living water, lifting to the heavens, sheltering others, and bearing fruit. From communities of pines and oaks of the North American continent, to the solitary baobab silhouetted on the African savannah, to the restoration of Israel's cedars in Asia, trees are being felled under a darkening warfare to silence God's words. Every year an estimated 100,000 Christians die for their faith. Hundreds more suffer loss of home and jobs. Churches burn and worshippers are slaughtered. Jesus is being argued in the courts and classrooms. His believers are imprisoned and beheaded. Our Trees of Life combines the tangible world of trees around us with an image of God's concern for us in a world increasingly hostile to his word.
