Book Fundamental Trends in Fluid structure Interaction

Download or read book Fundamental Trends in Fluid structure Interaction written by Giovanni P. Galdi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interaction of a fluid with a solid body is a widespread phenomenon in nature, occurring at different scales and different applied disciplines. Interestingly enough, even though the mathematical theory of the motion of bodies in a liquid is one of the oldest and most classical problems in fluid mechanics, mathematicians have, only very recently, become interested in a systematic study of the basic problems related to fluid-structure interaction, from both analytical and numerical viewpoints. Fundamental Trends in Fluid-Structure Interaction is a unique collection of important papers written by world-renowned experts aimed at furnishing the highest level of development in several significant areas of fluid-structure interactions. The contributions cover several aspects of this discipline, from mathematical analysis, numerical simulation and modeling viewpoints, including motion of rigid and elastic bodies in a viscous liquid, particulate flow and hemodynamic.

Download or read book Mystery of Space written by Zhang Banggu and published by Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA. This book was released on 2016-02-19 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The space discussed in this book is realistic physical space, is defined as “extensive property of matter and its motion”. This is the space we are familiar with in our daily life. Its basic property is it can be measured and validated. In physical theory, there are “phase space” in statistical physics, “state vector space” in quantum mechanics, “complex number space”, “function space” in mathematics, and some noosphere in social scientific field. In Buddhism books, there are hells with eighteen layers, heaven with ninety-nine layers. These are all abstract spaces. We will not discuss these kinds of spaces. With the knowledge of space from our daily lives, we introduced a strict scientific definition of space and illustrated that space is a property of matter. In this book, the relationship of uniformity of space, centrosymmetry, law of momentum conservation and law of angular momentum conservation are introduced. Also we discussed the relation of space and motion, introduced special relativity and demonstrated that the space properties of a matter will change dramatically as it is moving with a speed close to the light velocity. We introduced the property of the smallest space we can observe at present and quantum mechanics which describes the micro world. Also we introduced the fact that gravitation will bend space of matter and general relativity which described this fact. We introduced cosmology which described the big space; about the related observed facts, related “standard model” and its difficulties; the related works of the author and the supports from observed facts. At last, this book introduced some thoughts on some questions from the author. Some of them will be solved with development of science later.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book specialized to introduce stars, including the environment, origin, evolution and vanishes of stars. To attract teenagers, personified words such as born, grow, die etc. were used. In fact, this book is a serious scientific book. Everything is based on facts and observation data, and according to some scientific laws, a lot of interesting results were deduced. References were referred in related parts for further reading. In cases of imagines from the authors, words like guess, possible and hypothesis were used. Readers can think and ask “why is it?” If it is not, what it will be then? Indeed, there were too many interesting things. At the same time, too many things were not clear and need to be known by us. This book wishes to attract more people, especially teenagers to pay attention to these shining stars.

Book New Trends in the Physics and Mechanics of Biological Systems

Download or read book New Trends in the Physics and Mechanics of Biological Systems written by Martine Ben Amar and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2011-05-26 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In July 2009, many experts in the mathematical modelling of biological sciences gathered in Les Houches for a 4-week summer school on the mechanics and physics of biological systems. The goal of the school was to present to students and researchers an integrated view of new trends and challenges in physical and mathematical aspects of biomechanics. While the scope for such a topic is very wide, we focused on problems where solid and fluid mechanics play a central role. The school covered both the general mathematical theory of mechanical biology in the context of continuum mechanics but also the specific modelling of particular systems in the biology of the cell, plants, microbes, and in physiology. These lecture notes are organised (as was the school) around five different main topics all connected by the common theme of continuum modelling for biological systems: Bio-fluidics, Bio-gels, Bio-mechanics, Bio-membranes, and Morphogenesis. These notes are not meant as a journal review of the topic but rather as a gentle tutorial introduction to the readers who want to understand the basic problematic in modelling biological systems from a mechanics perspective.

Download or read book Mystery of Cosmos written by Zhang Banggu and published by Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA. This book was released on 2015-12-09 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We try to use popular terms to introduce research results of modern science. First we will narrate some necessary fundamental knowledge; then we will introduce some realistic observed astronomical results; then we will present the standard model; at last we will introduce some research work and opinions of the author. In this book, only a few mathematics were introduced to enhance the confidence of the reader on the opinions illustrated. Readers can totally skip all the mathematical formulas to understand all the content. Of course, it is far from enough for readers willing to do intensive study. To compensate for this, some reference books were listed in related part. Interested readers can read related references.
