He was the father of eleven children, born 1735-1757 in Baltimore County. His wife, Mary Brown Baxter, was the mother of at least nine of these children. He died in 1757 in Baltimore County, probably about forty-five years of age. Descendants listed lived in Maryland, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Missouri, Illinois, and elsewhere.

It has long been a tradition in our family that our first ancestor on Amer ican soil, married Mary Adams, but whether of the Braintree family remains to be seen. I believe the two Thomas Baxters married wives from Hartford. As to the divorce of Bridget Baxter, I can only say we cannot judge our ancestors. They did what they thought for the best. He married Ester Redick, daughter of Captain Redick, ca. 1795. She died ca. 1830. Robert remarried to Catherine ca. 1839. He died in 1862. He was the father of at least three sons and two daughters. Lists descendants to ca 1900, most of which lived in Pennsylvania. 2) The family of John Baxter. He was born in Ireland ca. 1750. He married Mary ca. 1775. The family immigrated to America ca. 1795. The family settled in Pennsylvania for a while, then in 1812 moved to Harrison County, Ohio. He died in 1815. They were the parents of nine children. Descendants lived mostly in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
