Book Higher Order Asymptotic Theory for Time Series Analysis

Download or read book Higher Order Asymptotic Theory for Time Series Analysis written by Masanobu Taniguchi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The initial basis of this book was a series of my research papers, that I listed in References. I have many people to thank for the book's existence. Regarding higher order asymptotic efficiency I thank Professors Kei Takeuchi and M. Akahira for their many comments. I used their concept of efficiency for time series analysis. During the summer of 1983, I had an opportunity to visit The Australian National University, and could elucidate the third-order asymptotics of some estimators. I express my sincere thanks to Professor E.J. Hannan for his warmest encouragement and kindness. Multivariate time series analysis seems an important topic. In 1986 I visited Center for Mul tivariate Analysis, University of Pittsburgh. I received a lot of impact from multivariate analysis, and applied many multivariate methods to the higher order asymptotic theory of vector time series. I am very grateful to the late Professor P.R. Krishnaiah for his cooperation and kindness. In Japan my research was mainly performed in Hiroshima University. There is a research group of statisticians who are interested in the asymptotic expansions in statistics. Throughout this book I often used the asymptotic expansion techniques. I thank all the members of this group, especially Professors Y. Fujikoshi and K. Maekawa foItheir helpful discussion. When I was a student of Osaka University I learned multivariate analysis and time series analysis from Professors Masashi Okamoto and T. Nagai, respectively. It is a pleasure to thank them for giving me much of research background.

Book Festschrift for Lucien Le Cam

Download or read book Festschrift for Lucien Le Cam written by David Pollard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contributed in honour of Lucien Le Cam on the occasion of his 70th birthday, the papers reflect the immense influence that his work has had on modern statistics. They include discussions of his seminal ideas, historical perspectives, and contributions to current research - spanning two centuries with a new translation of a paper of Daniel Bernoulli. The volume begins with a paper by Aalen, which describes Le Cams role in the founding of the martingale analysis of point processes, and ends with one by Yu, exploring the position of just one of Le Cams ideas in modern semiparametric theory. The other 27 papers touch on areas such as local asymptotic normality, contiguity, efficiency, admissibility, minimaxity, empirical process theory, and biological medical, and meteorological applications - where Le Cams insights have laid the foundations for new theories.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large sample techniques are fundamental to all fields of statistics. Mixed effects models, including linear mixed models, generalized linear mixed models, non-linear mixed effects models, and non-parametric mixed effects models are complex models, yet, these models are extensively used in practice. This monograph provides a comprehensive account of asymptotic analysis of mixed effects models. The monograph is suitable for researchers and graduate students who wish to learn about asymptotic tools and research problems in mixed effects models. It may also be used as a reference book for a graduate-level course on mixed effects models, or asymptotic analysis.

Book Madan Lal Puri Selected Collected Works

Download or read book Madan Lal Puri Selected Collected Works written by Madan Lal Puri and published by VSP. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 796 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Puri is one of the most versatile and prolific researchers in the world in mathematical statistics. His research areas include nonparametric statistics, order statistics, limit theory under mixing, time series, splines, tests of normality, generalized inverses of matrices and related topics, stochastic processes, statistics of directional data, random sets, and fuzzy sets and fuzzy measures. His fundamental contributions in developing new rank-based methods and precise evaluation of the standard procedures, asymptotic expansions of distributions of rank statistics, as well as large deviation results concerning them, span such areas as analysis of variance, analysis of covariance, multivariate analysis, and time series, to mention a few. His in-depth analysis has resulted in pioneering research contributions to prominent journals that have substantial impact on current research. This book together with the other two volumes (Volume 1: Nonparametric Methods in Statistics and Related Topics; Volume 2: Probability Theory and Extreme Value Theory), are a concerted effort to make his research works easily available to the research community. The sheer volume of the research output by him and his collaborators, coupled with the broad spectrum of the subject matters investigated, and the great number of outlets where the papers were published, attach special significance in making these works easily accessible. The papers selected for inclusion in this work have been classified into three volumes each consisting of several parts. All three volumes carry a final part consisting of the contents of the other two, as well as the complete list of Professor Puri's publications.

Book Change Point Analysis for Time Series

Download or read book Change Point Analysis for Time Series written by Lajos Horváth and published by Springer. This book was released on 2024-03-25 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a comprehensive survey that covers various modern methods used for detecting and estimating change points in time series and their models. The book primarily focuses on asymptotic theory and practical applications of change point analysis. The methods discussed in the book go beyond the traditional change point methods for univariate and multivariate series. It also explores techniques for handling heteroscedastic series, high-dimensional series, and functional data. While the primary emphasis is on retrospective change point analysis, the book also presents sequential "on-line" methods for detecting change points in real-time scenarios. Each chapter in the book includes multiple data examples that illustrate the practical application of the developed results. These examples cover diverse fields such as economics, finance, environmental studies, and health data analysis. To reinforce the understanding of the material, each chapter concludes with several exercises. Additionally, the book provides a discussion of background literature, allowing readers to explore further resources for in-depth knowledge on specific topics. Overall, "Change Point Analysis for Time Series" offers a broad and informative overview of modern methods in change point analysis, making it a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners, and students interested in analyzing and modeling time series data.

Download or read book A Distributional Approach to Asymptotics written by Ricardo Estrada and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-09-08 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "...The authors of this remarkable book are among the very few who have faced up to the challenge of explaining what an asymptotic expansion is, and of systematizing the handling of asymptotic series. The idea of using distributions is an original one, and we recommend that you read the book...[it] should be on your bookshelf if you are at all interested in knowing what an asymptotic series is." -"The Bulletin of Mathematics Books" (Review of the 1st edition) ** "...The book is a valuable one, one that many applied mathematicians may want to buy. The authors are undeniably experts in their field...most of the material has appeared in no other book." -"SIAM News" (Review of the 1st edition) This book is a modern introduction to asymptotic analysis intended not only for mathematicians, but for physicists, engineers, and graduate students as well. Written by two of the leading experts in the field, the text provides readers with a firm grasp of mathematical theory, and at the same time demonstrates applications in areas such as differential equations, quantum mechanics, noncommutative geometry, and number theory. Key features of this significantly expanded and revised second edition: * addition of a new chapter and many new sections * wide range of topics covered, including the Ces.ro behavior of distributions and their connections to asymptotic analysis, the study of time-domain asymptotics, and the use of series of Dirac delta functions to solve boundary value problems * novel approach detailing the interplay between underlying theories of asymptotic analysis and generalized functions * extensive examples and exercises at the end of each chapter * comprehensive bibliography and index This work is an excellent tool for the classroom and an invaluable self-study resource that will stimulate application of asymptotic
