This book was released on 1987 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report and the soil maps it contains cover about 15,500 square kilometres in the southwestern Cariboo and Chilcotin regions of British Columbia. The report describes the characteristics of the soils and map units, and specifies their location and extent. It gives short accounts of the history and natural features of the map area. The soil maps show the distribution of soils. The survey was undertaken to provide an inventory of land resources under the Canada Land Inventory program.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Vth International Symposium on Inland Saline Lakes was held at Hotel Titikaka on the shores of that lake, 22--29 March 1991 with participants from 16 countries. Twenty-three papers presented by the participants, plus an additional one reporting a microcosm study on salinity effects, constitute the present volume. The papers cover the wide array of subject matters and scales characteristic of our `interdiscipline' and represent the symposium well. All manuscripts submitted for these proceedings were critically reviewed by at least three referees and are representative of saline lake research, developed around the world in the three-year period since the last symposium.

Book Crystallization and Precipitation

Download or read book Crystallization and Precipitation written by G L Strathdee and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-12-05 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crystallization and Precipitation is a collection of papers that discusses the advancement in crystallization and precipitation technology. The titles assess the relative state of evolution of the science, engineering and practice in crystallization and precipitation. The coverage of the text includes chemical reactor approach to crystallizer analysis; uranium refining by uranyl nitrate hexahydrate crystallization; and valorization of liquid effluents by crystallization of sodium sulfate. The selection also covers precipitation of ferric arsenate from acid solutions; precipitation of silver on natural and synthetic sulphides theory and prospects of industrial use; and precipitation and its alternatives in the hydrometallurgy of gold. The book will be of great use to researchers and professionals who utilizes the mineral processes of crystallization and precipitation.

Book Twelfth International Diatom Symposium

Download or read book Twelfth International Diatom Symposium written by Herman van Dam and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Twelfth International Diatom Symposium stressed how diatoms can be used to assess the human impact on natural waters, without neglecting other important fields of research. As the frustules of many diatom species are relatively resistant to dissolution they are preserved in freshwater and marine sediments and provide a record of past environments on earth. In past decades they have been successfully used to reconstruct changes in water bodies evoked by changes in salinity, acidification and eutrophication. In the last few years diatom-inferred predictions of environmental variables have become much more quantitative. In the most recent research reports the strong separation between palaeolimnological and neolimnological diatom research is fading, as palaeolimnologists are increasingly using modern calibration sets to infer past states of the environment. This quantitative approach is also very suitable for prediction of future changes in the biota of surface waters. Also ecological changes due to climatic modification have been investigated more thoroughly recently. A very important new research topic is the occurrence of toxic diatoms, particularly along the coasts of North America. These proceedings are intended to be a balanced view of such modern developments in diatom research. They should also be of interest to non-specialists in diatoms, who can use the results of diatom research as a tool in a more general taxonomic, ecological and geological context.

Book Soil Resource Surveys for Forestry

Download or read book Soil Resource Surveys for Forestry written by K. W. G. Valentine and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1986 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Commercial forests are dwindling and to harvest and replant each tree crop successfully a forester must know his land, the composition of the soil and its strengths and limitations. The first study to consider soil survey for forestry, this book explains how to describe, map and assess land for the forest industry, explaining how to grow and harvest trees, how to plan a soil survey, and how to assess and present the data. Taking a practical approach, the volume includes such useful information as how to locate oneself in a forest, "mark up" aerial photographs, and plan a helicopter traverse, as well as lists of equipment suppliers, practicable rates of progress, traverse spacings and inspection densities--all invaluable for survey planning, but rarely published.
