Book Sodium Mass Transfer

Download or read book Sodium Mass Transfer written by and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1959 the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission contracted with the General Electric Company to carry out a Sodium Mass Transfer investigation with the objective of evaluating three prospective steel construction materials for utilization in liquid sodium-cooled reactor systems operated in the temperature range of 600 to 1300 F. Six liquid sodium test loops were designed and built to implement the study of the three selected materials: AISI 316 stainless steel (316SS); 2 1/4 percent Chromium- 1 percent Molybdenum steel (2 1/4 Cr-1Mo), and 5 percent Chromium - 1/2 percent Molybdenum- 1/2 percent Titanium steel (5Cr-1/2Mo-Ti). This document reports and interprets extensive observations of the metallurgical effects noted after exposure of the materials to liquid sodium. This exposure was made under dynamic conditions in test runs of up to 3000 hours from the initial startup through December 1961.

Book Proceedings of the Metallurgical Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy

Download or read book Proceedings of the Metallurgical Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy written by G. Kachaniwsky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The symposium brings together papers by industrial users of oxygen, major oxygen producers, engineering firms and leading experts in the field. It covers recent development in oxygen technology - both in application and technology. Both pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical applications are discussed, and O2 production technologies feature the cryogenic process together with several alternative novel methods. Established and new emerging processes are featured, and increased process efficiencies, higher throughputs and reduced energy consumption are among the objectives of the symposium.

Book Corrosion of Type 316 Stainless Steel in NaK Service

Download or read book Corrosion of Type 316 Stainless Steel in NaK Service written by C. A. Zimmerman and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A literature survey of work on corrosion of stainless steel, especially Type 316, by NaK and sodium has been made, based on information available through September, l964. In general, the Type 316 and Type 3O4 stainless steels should give good performance with NaK. The mechanisms which can lead to failure are attack by impurities at temperatures under 550 degrees centigrade, and carbide precipitation, sigma formation, and mass transfer at higher temperatures.
