Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no bigger issue for healthy infants than sleeping through the night. In this simple, straightforward book, Suzy Giordano presents her amazingly effective “Limited-Crying Solution” that will get any baby to sleep for twelve hours at night—and three hours in the day—by the age of twelve weeks old. Giordano is the mother of five children and one of the most sought-after baby sleep specialists in the country. The Washington Post calls her a baby sleep "guru" and "an underground legend in the Washington area for her ability to teach newborns how to achieve that parenting nirvana: sleeping through the night." Her sleep plan has been tested with singletons, twins, triplets, babies with special needs, and colicky babies—and it has never failed. Whether you are pregnant, first-time parents, or parents who seek a different path with your second or third child, anyone can benefit from the Baby Coach’s popular system of regular feeding times, twelve hours of sleep at night and three hours of sleep during the day, and the peace of mind that comes with taking the parent and child out of a sleep- deprived world.

Book excerpt: The Dreams to Reality Fieldbook Have you ever wondered why some people accomplish so much more than you do even though they have the same 24 hours? Are you tired of watching everyone else get what they want? Are you ashamed of being jealous of your friends, family or strangers who are living the life you wish you had? What if that could be you? What if you were able to make the income you have always wanted? How about taking a trip around the world without worry? What if you could live life without regrets? Would you be interested in that type of power? You can't change your past but you can have the future you want by changing the actions you take right now. In The Dreams to Reality Fieldbook, Robert Chen shows you how, step by step. This fieldbook was not written to make you feel good. You are not going to find rags-to-riches stories or tips about affirmations and positive thinking. This book was designed to take any dream that you have and turn it into a reality. That's it. Robert's focus when creating this fieldbook was to make it comprehensive, easy-to-understand and as short as possible. This book is not for someone who hopes it will work like magic with little to no effort. Each chapter ends with specific action steps that you should take before moving on. If you do not want to follow the steps, don't waste your time and money because this book will not help you if all you do is read it without stopping to take action. There are only two pre-requisites for this fieldbook: A dream A desire and willingness to commit to pursuing your dream It doesn't matter if you do not know how to achieve your dream, that is why Robert wrote this book. All that matters is that you want to achieve it. You will learn how to: Challenge beliefs and assumptions that hold you back from committing to your dreams Properly set goals that will allow you to turn your dreams into possibilities Create a practical plan that fits into your schedule to achieve your goals Execute your plan to turn possibilities into reality Overcome barriers that will arise when you execute your plan Celebrate and repeat the process again This book contains the information you need to turn your dreams into reality. All you have to do is to follow the steps.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Certified sleep consultant Natalie Willes, known also as The Baby Sleep Trainer, shares her effective and efficient sleep training method in her new book, Getting Your Baby to Sleep the Baby Sleep Trainer Way. Thousands of families throughout the world have used the Baby Sleep Trainer method to help their infants and toddlers learn to sleep through the night and take healthy naps, all with the fewest tears possible. Backed by thorough scientific data and years of professional experience, the Baby Sleep Trainer Method offers parents a tried and true solution for children aged 16 weeks through 3.5 years. Step-by-step, comprehensive contents include: The science of baby sleep habits How to prepare your child's room for optimal sleep Discussions on cortisol and crying in babies Creating healthy sleep habits with newborns Exactly when and how to start sleep training for nighttime sleep and naps Tips and tricks for multiples Troubleshooting common sleep training issues and pitfalls Detailed eat-wake-sleep schedules for children on 3, 2, and 1 nap Sleep training toddlers and children in beds Praise for the Baby Sleep Trainer method: "My 5 month old was waking up every 2-3 hours at night and I was seriously sleep deprived. My sleep deprivation was affecting every aspect of my life. I read several books on sleep training, as well as blogs and websites. I was at my wits end. After following the program for two weeks, my child was consistently sleeping 11-12 hours a night and was on a consistent schedule during the day! This program has literally given me my life back." - McKel Neilsen "Two months ago I was at the end of my sleep rope with our 6-month-old, boy/girl twins. Exhausted doesn't begin to explain it, I felt desperate. After using the Baby Sleep Trainer Method we feel like we have our lives back. The babies are happy and well rested, and so are we! We have our evenings back to cook dinner, spend time with our 4-year-old daughter, hang out together, and actually do things we enjoy. The process took commitment but has been absolutely worth every bit of it." - Beth Oller, MD "Using the Baby Sleep Trainer Method, my daughter quickly went to a routine nap schedule during the day and sleeping through the night from 6:30pm to 6:30am! Also, rather than the exhausting and often unsuccessful rocking or soothing or feeding to sleep, we were able to put her down awake in her crib and she would fall asleep on her own in just a few minutes. It was just incredible." - Online Review

Download or read book Snooze or Lose written by Carol Whiteley and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2006-07-28 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Walk into any first-period high school classroom and it's obvious: teenagers are exhausted. Sleep deprivation is an epidemic as widespread as obesityâ€"and just as damaging. Fortunately, science has answers and Dr. Helene Emsellem has solutions that all parents can use. Affecting the lives of more than 41 million adolescents in the United States alone, sleep deprivation is a chronic problem for kids today. We know this intuitively as we watch teenagers frantically juggle a hectic social calendar with the overwhelming demands of school, work, and chores. School performance around the country is sufferingâ€"but it's not just grades that are at risk. Sleep deprivation has been found to affect nearly every aspect of a teenager's life, from emotional stability and behavioral issues to physical well-being and the potential for drug and alcohol abuse. For years, we've blamed many of these adolescent characteristics on the natural maturing process or changing hormones. And while chemicals do surge through the body creating strong effects, sleepâ€"the right amount and the right kindâ€"has now been targeted for its prime importance in overall success and well-being.

Book Hell s Islands

Download or read book Hell s Islands written by Stanley Coleman Jersey and published by Texas A&M University Press. This book was released on 2007-12-06 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From August 1942 until February 1943, two armies faced each other amid the malarial jungles and blistering heat of Guadalcanal Island. The Imperial Japanese forces needed to protect and maintain the air base that gave them the ability to interdict enemy supply routes. The Allies were desperate to halt the advance of a foe that so far had inflicted crippling losses on the U.S. fleet at Pearl Harbor, then seized the Philippines, Wake Island, the Dutch East Indies, Guam, and other Allied territory. After months of relentless battle, the U.S. troops forced back the determined Japanese, providing what many historians believe was the decisive turning point in the Pacific theater of operations. Stanley Coleman Jersey, a medical air evacuation specialist in the South Pacific during World War II, has spent countless hours combing Australian, Japanese, and U.S. documents and interviewing more than 200 veterans of the Guadalcanal campaign, both Allied and Japanese. Beginning with the events that preceded the battle for Guadalcanal during the Australian defense of the southern Solomon Islands in late 1941, Jersey details the military preparations made in response to intelligence describing the creation of an enemy air base within striking distance of American supply lines and recounts the civilian evacuation that followed the Japanese arrival in New Guinea. With the stage set, he turns to the campaign itself, with particular emphasis on the combat during the critical period of August to December 1942. While Guadalcanal is his primary focus, Jersey also covers the roles played by forces occupying the other Solomon Islands, including the plight of construction laborers, air crews, and ground units. This book, chock-full of gripping battlefield accounts and harrowing first-person narratives, draws together for the first time Allied and Japanese perspectives on the bloody contest. It is certain to become an indispensable asset to historians of World War II.

Book A Rifleman s Diary

Download or read book A Rifleman s Diary written by Eric Fawbert and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2008-02-18 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1940, the author was accepted for RAF flying crew, then changed his mind and opted for the infantry (Why? - see book). As he survived 6 years (4 in the front-lines of N.Africa, Italy and NW Europe) 'without a scratch', he has never regretted the change. Back in Civvy Street after the war, and having voted Churchill out of office, his diaries were relegated to the attic, and brought out only recently as of interest in his old age, and a change from the boredom of TV etc. They did more than relieve boredom however, as they reminded him that his service, although not overtly recognised, was something to be proud of. He decided that an 'easy reading' book would be of interest to his two children and the family name, as well as an opportunity to dispel a number of fallacies of that time, and to give a true insight into the life and thoughts of a ranker 'in the field'. The author believes that most war-books are biased to some extent, occasionally unintended, but often intentionally, so he stresses that this book adheres to the diary entries, written on site at the time, occasionally whilst still 'under fire'. His views tend to be confrontational, but have not been challenged in the course of a private issue. This book is intended for a wider readership.

Named the most successful Latin songwriter in history, Rudy Pérez is the creator behind some of the bestselling records of Beyoncé, Julio Iglesias, Christina Aguilera, and IL Divo. In his one-of-a-kind memoir, Rudy tells about his childhood in Cuba and the heart-gripping visits to his father in prison during the height of the communist revolution. Tracing his family's perilous escape on one of the last Freedom Flights to America, Rudy opens up about the years of poverty and growing up in a crime-ridden neighborhood. These memories contrast with tender moments of dancing to the stereo with his siblings, nodding along to his mother's classical favorites, and swaying to blues melodies with his father. At a young age, Rudy tried his hand at recreating the music he loved, and his talent led him to an unprecedented career with over 300 hit songs. With years of hard work, ceaseless creativity, and a strong faith, Rudy was the first Latin music artist to win Billboard Producer of the Decade. Looking back over his five-time Grammy winning legacy, Rudy shares little-known stories of faith and behind-the-scenes details of working with stars like Fergie, Jaci Velasquez, Michael Bolton, Simon Cowell, and Sam Moore.
