Book The Lean Practitioner s Field Book

Download or read book The Lean Practitioner s Field Book written by Charles Protzman and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 1752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While there are numerous Lean Certification programs, most companies have their own certification paths whereby they bestow expert status upon employees after they have participated in or led a certain number of kaizen events. Arguing that the number of kaizen events should not determine a person's expert status, The Lean Practitioner's Field Book: Proven, Practical, Profitable and Powerful Techniques for Making Lean Really Work outlines a true learning path for anyone seeking to understand essential Lean principles. The book includes a plethora of examples drawn from the personal experiences of its many well-respected and award-winning contributors. These experts break down Lean concepts to their simplest terms to make everything as clear as possible for Lean practitioners. A refresher for some at times, the text provides thought-provoking questions with examples that will stimulate learning opportunities. Introducing the Lean Practitioner concept, the book details the five distinct Lean Practitioner levels and includes quizzes and criteria for each level. It highlights the differences between the kaizen event approach and the Lean system level approach as well as the difference between station balancing and baton zone. This book takes readers on a journey that begins with an overview of Lean principles and culminates with readers developing professionally through the practice of self-reliance. Providing you with the tools to implement Lean tools in your organization, the book includes discussions and examples that demonstrate how to transition from traditional accounting methods to a Lean accounting system. The book outlines an integrated, structured approach identified by the acronym BASICS (baseline, analyze, suggest solutions, implement, check, and sustain), which is combined with a proven business strategy to help ensure a successful and sustainable transformation of your organization.

Book Value Management

Download or read book Value Management written by Roger H. Davies and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-02-17 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Change programmes in both private and public sectors have a poor record of delivering their intended value. The reasons given most often for their failure include lack of executive support or buy-in from key users, loose requirements definition, weak programme management, and plain wishful thinking. They rarely include technical limitations. Value Management puts forward the view that the true problem lies in failing to understand the causal links between the intended stakeholder outcomes and the actual programme outputs. Repeating the pattern of failure can be avoided by asking two questions: - Before implementation, what capabilities must a change programme deliver, when and in what order so as to cause intended value against a defined purpose with speed and certainty? - During and after implementation, what minor adjustments and/or major shifts are needed to be certain that the programme remains on purpose and on value? and two answers to be given: - Target, time and align change programmes to deliver maximum intended value to stakeholders - the baseline business case - track and respond to changes during and beyond implementation to ensure that the programme actually delivers or exceeds intended value - value realisation. The authors show how, by asking and answering these questions, direction and delivery of any programme can be clarified and greater economic value achieved.

Book Six Sigma Green Belt Round 2

Download or read book Six Sigma Green Belt Round 2 written by Tracy L. Owens and published by Quality Press. This book was released on 2011-07-15 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You've been trained and tested and you've been successful. Now, where will you take it from here? This book is intended for the Green Belt or anybody who has attended Six Sigma training and has been coached through a complete project, and who now wants to or needs to step out on their own and manage improvement projects without a dedicated coach. For a Green Belt, it is probable that the first project was coached by another Six Sigma practitioner, either within the organization or consulting for them, and that the coach’s performance may have been evaluated based on the success of the Green Belt’s project. Now that the first project is done, the coach has likely moved on to the next new Green Belt candidate. So, what happens to yesterday’s Green Belt? Detailed in these pages is a user-friendly guide to completing an improvement project quickly and thoroughly. The author has identified the nine most critical elements of a project and presented the tools needed to deliver those nine. A person who has been exposed to Six Sigma training will not have a difficult time understanding and applying the tools and techniques presented. Even a non-Green Belt will find this material to be usable with only a little coaching. Dotted throughout the book are descriptions of team meetings, five in all, that will serve the purpose of delivering the nine critical elements in a 90-day time frame. The book’s final chapter is intended as a guide to process management and process improvement in or outside the context of an improvement project. Once the concepts and topics become familiar to the reader, Chapter 10 can be read independently and repeatedly to help the organization manage its processes and improve them every day.

Book Achieving HR Excellence through Six Sigma

Download or read book Achieving HR Excellence through Six Sigma written by Daniel T. Bloom and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-08-12 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although world-class firms like GE and Motorola have relied on Six Sigma to build their performance cultures, these processes are all too often left out of human resources (HR) functions. This lack of Six Sigma principles is even more surprising because preventing errors and improving productivity are so critical to the people management processes of hiring, retention, appraisal, and development. From the history and evolution of the Total Quality movement to initiatives for introducing a Six Sigma continuous process improvement strategy in your HR department, Achieving HR Excellence through Six Sigma, Second Edition introduces a new way to envision your role within the organization. It explains how this powerful methodology works and supplies a roadmap to help you find and eliminate waste in your HR processes. Describing exactly what HR excellence means, the book outlines dozens of proven approaches as well as a hierarchy of the exact steps required to achieve it. It illustrates the Six Sigma methodology from the creation of a project to its successful completion. At each stage, it describes the specific tools currently available and provides examples of organizations that have used Six Sigma within HR to improve their organizations. The text presents proven approaches that can help you solve and even eliminate people management problems altogether. Filled with real-world examples, it demonstrates how to implement Six Sigma into the transformational side of your organization. It also includes a listing of additional resources to help you along your Six Sigma journey. Explaining how to build a new business model for your HR organization, the book supplies the new perspective and broad view you will need to discover and recommend game-changing alternatives to traditional HR approaches in your organization. The first edition of this book was one of the first to demonstrate how HR professionals could enhance their careers by learning the language of business — it introduced the evolution of change management and the change management toolbox in a fashion that could easily be implemented in organizations. This new edition updates the first with added information on some of the early history and introduces new case study tools resulting from the author’s continuing work with organizations and in academic environments.
