Download or read book Sister Spankings Sissy Maid written by M MISSY and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-05-10 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Jill and I were ready to go to college and start a new chapter in our lives, I can tell you this about how Jill and I were raised by our parents. Understanding that the first job of a parent is to protect their children and teach their children to be responsible adults, what could I say? Our parents did the best job that a parent could do. Both Jill and I are the most loving and obedient and smart and responsible kids anyone could ever want. We did not drink, gamble, sniff glue, smoke, take dope, or get pregnant. We both got great marks in school. Over the past five years, of the hairbrush era, Jill was spanked only 6 times. That was not a lot over 5 years. Jill turned out to be such a confident and responsible young lady. I was even impressed with her. Mom taught her well and Jill learned well. Over that same five years, I was spanked 13 times and I was caned that last time to total 14 times I was punished. However, that was only three times per year. I never was punished when I did not deserve to be punished, so I earned every one of those Spankings. However, I turned out to be the most respectful and loving and nice son anyone could ask for. Yes, and obedient too. But, never once did I ever think that my Mon was mean to me or too hard on me. My Mom did what she had to do to get me though those growing years that were so much trouble for many of my friends. Looking back on all the pain and embarrassment and humiliation, I appreciated my Mom for caring enough to be my Mom and not my friend when I needed a Mom. Mom was my friend the rest of the time. Jill and I get along better than any other siblings we know. Jill and I truly care about one another and understand our perspective roles in our growing up process together. As a result, Jill got me a room in the same house she and a few friend rented as their own personal college dorm. How great is that going to be, me and five girls in the same house, I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Book A Multimodal Study of Sarcasm in Interactional Humor

Download or read book A Multimodal Study of Sarcasm in Interactional Humor written by Sabina Tabacaru and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2019-10-08 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The corpus-based approach to humor offers innovative and more than plausible objectives, supported by sound arguments, which underline the need to analyze humor both verbally and non-verbally. The cognitive linguistic account of humor sets to analyze a corpus of humorous meanings in interaction and to present the elements that help to create the humorous effects: common ground, intersubjectivity, facial expressions, speakers' attitude, etc. The large corpus of examples annotated in ELAN offers a much-needed multimodal perspective of humor, which encompasses all the different techniques used by speakers. The present analysis offers inspiring insight for future research, in different fields of study: multimodality, humor, and psycholinguistics. The study reveals the need of analyzing both verbal and non-verbal elements in discourse in general and humor in particular as co-speech gestures are essential for the understanding of the message as intended by the speakers.

Book Sisters on Screen

Download or read book Sisters on Screen written by Eva Rueschmann and published by Temple University Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perhaps the most vital, emotionally complex, and lasting attachments between women occur between sisters. Whether as best friends or antagonists, "sisters remain entangled in a common tapestry of mutual experience and remembrance, family and history," according to author Eva Rueschmann. Although many of the women-centered films in the last three decades depict the relationship between sisters as a pivotal aspect of a character's psychological development, the now substantial body of feminist film criticism has not taken up this theme in any sustained way. InSisters on Screen, Eva Rueschmann explores the sister bond in a wide range of modernist feature films that depart from the conventional cinematic rendering of women's lives. Drawing on the psychoanalytic concept of intersubjectivity, this book emphasizes the role of a woman's relationship and inner world in her continual quest for self-knowledge. Offering an original and absorbing perspective on women's filmic images,Sisters on Screenreveals how post-1960s cinema has articulated the ways in which biological sisters negotiate mutuality and difference, co-author family histories, and profoundly shape each other's political and personal identities. The films in focus question standards of femininity as they probe into memory, fantasy, and desire, bringing women's realities into view in the process. Structuring her discussion in terms of life-cycle stages—adolescence and adulthood—Rueschmann offers an in-depth discussion of such films asAn Angel at My Table,Double Happiness,Eve's Bayou,Gas Food Lodging,Heavenly Creatures,Little Women,Marianne and Julianne,Paura e amore,Peppermint Soda,The Silence,Sweetie, andWelcome to the Dollhouse. Rueschmann draws upon the works of filmmakers from the 1970s to the 1990s. Some of the directors included in her study are Allison Anders, Gillian Armstrong, Ingmar Bergman, Jane Campion, Peter Jackson, Mina Shum, Diane Kurys, Kasi Lemmons, Todd Solondz, and Margarethe von Trotta.Sisters on Screenwill appeal to anyone interested in women's studies, film studies, psychology, psychoanalytic readings of cinema, women directors, and international modern film. Author note:Eva Rueschmannis Assistant Professor of Cultural Studies at Hampshire College.

Yet Jory wondered how she was supposed to find a man when her luck with men was so lousy. Besides, she had more important things to worry about---like how to stop her younger sister Missy from hanging out every night to all hours of the night with her new boyfriend, Joseph. So when Jory went to Joseph's apartment to have a talk with him and ended up telling her concerns to his older brother Caleb instead, she never considered him as man material because he had a girlfriend. Yet as circumstances repeatedly bring them together in the furtive act of collusion to control their younger siblings' hanging out to all hours of the night, Jory finds herself thinking of Caleb more than she could have anticipated. The question is will Caleb think of her in the same way?

Book excerpt: Jan Berry, leader of the music duo Jan & Dean from the late 1950s to mid-1960s, was an intense character who experienced more in his first 25 years than many do in a lifetime. As an architect of the West Coast sound, he was one of rock 'n' roll's original rebels--brilliant, charismatic, reckless, and flawed. As a songwriter, music arranger, and record producer for Nevin-Kirshner Associates and Screen Gems-Columbia Music, Berry was one of the pioneering self-produced artists of his era in Hollywood. He lived a dual life, reaching the top of the charts with Jan & Dean while transitioning from college student to medical student, until an automobile accident in 1966 changed his trajectory forever. Suffering from brain damage and partial paralysis, Jan spent the rest of his life trying to come back from Dead Man's Curve. His story is told here in-depth for the first time, based on extensive primary source documentation and supplemented by the stories and memories of Jan's family members, friends, music industry colleagues, and contemporaries. From the birth of rock to the bitter end, Berry's life story is thrilling, humorous, unsettling, and disturbing, yet ultimately uplifting.
