Book Array Processor Utilisation in the Computation of Real time Images

Download or read book Array Processor Utilisation in the Computation of Real time Images written by Lewis N. Lester and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of an array processor to the real time generation of aircraft images in Air Traffic Control tower simulation is described. Particular emphasis is placed upon the problems which arise in achieving efficient utilisation of the array processor. It is shown that the time required to transfer data from the host to the array processor is a serious consideration in the partitioning of the algorithm between the two processors. It is also shown that array processor execution speed is about ten times faster than a host Fortran routine, provided that the array processor code is written to maximise the number of parallel computing elements used and to minimise loop lengths by pipelining of operations. These requirements result in a considerable software development effort. A timing analysis of the resultant array processor code is also presented. Originator-supplied keywords include: Computer graphics, Real time operations, Pipelining (computers), and Image synthesis.

Download or read book Parallel Processing Techniques for Simulation written by Madan Singh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides the proceedings of the First European Workshop on Parallel Processing Techniques for Simulation which was held at the end of October 1985. The Workshop was organized within the framework of a joint project sponsored by the Commission of the European Communities under the research part of the multiannua1 programme in the field of Data Processing aming at promoting collaborative research work in the Community. The project involved collaborative work between the Complex Systems Group of the Control Systems Centre at UMIST, the Systems Reliability Service of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and the University of Bergamo, Italy. The aim of this project was to develop decomposition coordination techniques which would be of help in the simulation of complex dynamical systems on parallel processing facilities. One of the major aims of the Workshop was to report on the results produced within the project and to try to relate these to the leading work going on in this field in other centres of excellence. With this in mind, the Proceedings Volume is split up into a number of parts corresponding to the main sessions within the Workshop programme.

Book Design of Array Processor Software for Nonlinear Structural Analysis

Download or read book Design of Array Processor Software for Nonlinear Structural Analysis written by and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents ongoing research on the solution of large-scale nonlinear structural problems using a 32-bit minicomputer with an attached 64-bit array processor that communicate via a common memory interface. This configuration is typical of what we see as representative of future work stations with attached specialized processors. A user-oriented software package has been designed to allow the use of the given computer configuration by a typical engineer or a scientific user without a detailed knowledge of the operation of the array processor or/and the complex data handling necessary to create the manipulate the data associated with the solution of large problems. The software was then used to implement typical building blocks of a nonlinear finite element code, and performance measurements were taken. Several test examples are considered using 3-D beam finite elements and the Newton Raphson solution scheme. The array processor could not be utilized as yet, due to the lack of the proper vendor software. Hence, a simulator was designed to predict the performance of the software. The simulator was based on reliable time measurements obtained from previous work with the same array processor, using a 16-bit host computer, as well as experiments with the current 32-bit host computer. Book Processor and System on Chip Simulation

Download or read book Processor and System on Chip Simulation written by Rainer Leupers and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-09-15 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulation of computer architectures has made rapid progress recently. The primary application areas are hardware/software performance estimation and optimization as well as functional and timing verification. Recent, innovative technologies such as retargetable simulator generation, dynamic binary translation, or sampling simulation have enabled widespread use of processor and system-on-chip (SoC) simulation tools in the semiconductor and embedded system industries. Simultaneously, processor and SoC simulation is still a very active research area, e.g. what amounts to higher simulation speed, flexibility, and accuracy/speed trade-offs. This book presents and discusses the principle technologies and state-of-the-art in high-level hardware architecture simulation, both at the processor and the system-on-chip level.

Book Parallel Dynamic and Transient Simulation of Large Scale Power Systems

Download or read book Parallel Dynamic and Transient Simulation of Large Scale Power Systems written by Venkata Dinavahi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook introduces methods of accelerating transient stability (dynamic) simulation and electromagnetic transient simulation on massively parallel processors for large-scale AC-DC grids – two of the most common and computationally onerous studies done by energy control centers and research laboratories for the planning, design, and operation of such integrated grids for ensuring the security and reliability of electric power. Simulation case studies provided in the book range from small didactic test circuits to realistic-sized AC-DC grids, and special emphasis is placed on detailed device-level multi-physics models for power system equipment and decomposition techniques for simulating large-scale systems. Parallel Dynamic and Transient Simulation of Large-Scale Power Systems: A High Performance Computing Solution is a comprehensive state-of-the-art guide for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students in power systems engineering. Practicing engineers, software developers, and scientists working in the power and energy industry will find it to be a timely and valuable reference for solving potential problems in their design and development activities. Detailed device-level electro-thermal modeling for power electronic systems in DC grids; Provides comprehensive dynamic and transient simulation of integrated large-scale AC-DC grids; Offers detailed models of renewable energy system models.

The book opens with a general overview of the restoration process and then covers: * Techniques used in restoration planning and training * Knowledge-based systems as operational aids in restoration * Issues associated with hydro and thermal power plants * High and extra-high voltage transmission systems * Restoration of distribution systems Power System Restoration is essential reading for all power system planners and operating engineers in the power industry. It is also a valuable reference for researchers, practicing power engineers, and engineering students." Sponsored by: IEEE Power Engineering Society

Book Defect and Fault Tolerance in VLSI Systems

Download or read book Defect and Fault Tolerance in VLSI Systems written by C.H. Stapper and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Higher circuit densities, increasingly more complex application ohjectives, and advanced packaging technologies have suhstantially increased the need to incorporate defect-tolerance and fault-tolerance in the design of VLSI and WSI systems. The goals of defect-tolerance and fault-tolerance are yield enhancement and improved reliahility. The emphasis on this area has resulted in a new field of interdisciplinary scientific research. I n fact, advanced methods of defect/fault control and tolerance are resulting in enhanced manufacturahility and productivity of integrated circuit chips, VI.SI systems, and wafer scale integrated circuits. In 1987, Dr. W. Moore organized an "International Workshop on Designing for Yield" at Oxford University. Edited papers of that workshop were published in reference [II. The participants in that workshop agreed that meetings of this type should he con tinued. preferahly on a yearly hasis. It was Dr. I. Koren who organized the "IEEE Inter national Workshop on Defect and Fault Tolerance in VLSI Systems" in Springfield Massachusetts the next year. Selected papers from that workshop were puhlished as the first volume of this series [21.
