Book Position based Routing Algorithms for Three dimensional Ad Hoc Networks

Download or read book Position based Routing Algorithms for Three dimensional Ad Hoc Networks written by Alaa Eddien Awad Abdallah and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In position-based routing algorithms, the nodes use the geographical information to make routing decisions. Recent research in this field addresses such routing algorithms in two-dimensional (2 D ) space. However, in real applications, the nodes may be distributed in three-dimensional (3 D ) space. Transition from 2 D to 3 D is not always easy, since many problems in 3 D are significantly harder than their 2 D counterparts. This dissertation focuses on providing a reliable and efficient position-based routing algorithms with the associated pre-processing algorithms for various 3 D ad hoc networks. In the first part of this thesis, we propose a generalization of the Yao graph where the cones used are adaptively centered on the nearest set of neighbors for each node, thus creating a directed or undirected spanning subgraph of a given unit disk graph (UDG). We show that these locally constructed spanning subgraphs are strongly connected, have bounded out-degree, are t -spanners with bounded stretch factor, contain the Euclidean minimum spanning tree as a subgraph, and are orientation-invariant. Then we propose the first local, constant time algorithm that constructs an independent dominating set and connected dominating set of a Unit Disk Graph in a 3 D environment. We present a truncated octahedral tiling system of the space to assign to each node a class number depending on the position of the node within the tiling system. Then, based on the tiling system, we present our local algorithms for constructing the dominating sets. The new algorithms have a constant time complexity and have approximation bounds that are completely independent of the size of the network. In the second part of this thesis, we implement 3 D versions of many current 2 D position-based routing algorithms in addition to creating many new algorithms that are specially designed for a 3 D environment. We show experimentally that these new routing algorithms can achieve nearly guaranteed delivery while discovering routes significantly closer in length to a shortest path. Because many existing position-based routing algorithms for ad hoc and sensor networks use the maximum transmission power of the nodes to discover neighbors, which is a very power-consuming process. We propose several localized power-aware 3 D position-based routing algorithms that increase the lifetime of a network by maximizing the average lifetime of its nodes. These new algorithms use the idea of replacing the constant transmission power of a node with an adjusted transmission power during two stages. The simulation results show a significant improvement in the overall network lifetime over the current power-aware routing algorithms.

Book Routing Protocols for Ad Hoc Networks with Uncertainty in the Position of the Destination

Download or read book Routing Protocols for Ad Hoc Networks with Uncertainty in the Position of the Destination written by Anup Patnaik and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ad hoc network comprises a set of computing devices, often mobile, that communicate using wireless transmissions with the devices within their transmission range. These devices or nodes are able to detect the presence of other nodes in their transmission range as well route packets on behalf of other nodes. Hence, the network does not need to depend on any predefined infrastructure. This lack of infrastructure makes the problem of routing and packet forwarding a challenging task in such networks. To carry out this task in an efficient and scalable manner, several authors have proposed position-based routing algorithms. Position-based routing algorithms utilize the position or location of the destination node to inform routing decisions. However, obtaining the accurate position of the destination may not be feasible in some settings. In this thesis, we consider the problem of routing in an ad hoc network where the source node knows the approximate position of the destination node, but is uncertain about its exact current location. We investigate two approaches to this problem: one, based on a traversal of the faces of a planar sub-graph of the graph representing the network, and the second, based on flooding a limited area of the graph that represents the region the destination is likely to be found. We propose several variants of both approaches, and do extensive simulations to analyze the performance of the algorithms. Our results indicate that a simple modification of the basic flooding approach yields the best trade-off for optimizing delivery rate, stretch factor, as well as transmission cost. If however, delivery is required to be guaranteed, then a variant of the face tree traversal approach that we propose has the best performance.

Book excerpt: I was invited to join the Organizing Committee of the First International Conference on Complex Sciences: Theory and Applications (Complex 2009) as its ninth member. At that moment, eight distinguished colleagues, General Co-chairs Eugene Stanley and Gaoxi Xiao, Technical Co-chairs J·nos Kertész and Bing-Hong Wang, Local Co-chairs Hengshan Wang and Hong-An Che, Publicity Team Shi Xiao and Yubo Wang, had spent hundreds of hours pushing the conference half way to its birth. Ever since then, I have been amazed to see hundreds of papers flooding in, reviewed and commented on by the TPC members. Finally, more than 200 contributions were - lected for the proceedings currently in your hands. They include about 200 papers from the main conference (selected from more than 320 submissions) and about 33 papers from the five collated workshops: Complexity Theory of Art and Music (COART) Causality in Complex Systems (ComplexCCS) Complex Engineering Networks (ComplexEN) Modeling and Analysis of Human Dynamics (MANDYN) Social Physics and its Applications (SPA) Complex sciences are expanding their colonies at such a dazzling speed that it - comes literally impossible for any conference to cover all the frontiers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, a lot of work has been done in an effort to incorporate Swarm Intelligence (SI) techniques in building an adaptive routing protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs). Since centralized approach for routing in MANETs generally lacks in scalability and fault-tolerance, SI techniques provide a natural solution through a distributed approach for the adaptive routing for MANETs. In SI techniques, the captivating features of insects or mammals are correlated with the real world problems to find solutions. Recently, several applications of bio-inspired and nature-inspired algorithms in telecommunications and computer networks have achieved remarkable success. The main aims/objectives of this book, "Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Bio-Inspired Quality of Service Aware Routing Protocols", are twofold; firstly it clearly distinguishes between principles of traditional routing protocols and SI based routing protocols, while explaining in detail the analogy between MANETs and SI principles. Secondly, it presents the readers with important Quality of Service (QoS) parameters and explains how SI based routing protocols achieves QoS demands of the applications. This book also gives quantitative and qualitative analysis of some of the SI based routing protocols for MANETs.

Book A Reinforcement Learning Network based Novel Adaptive Routing Algorithm for Wireless Ad Hoc Network

This book was released on 2015-02-24 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientific Essay from the year 2015 in the subject Engineering - Communication Technology, , language: English, abstract: Mobile communication has enjoyed an incredible rise in quality throughout the last decade. Network dependability is most important concern in wireless Ad-hoc network. a serious challenge that lies in MANET (Mobile Ad-hoc network) is that the unlimited mobility and lots of frequent failure because of link breakage. Standard routing algorithms are insufficient for Ad-hoc networks. as a results of major drawback in MANET is limited power provide, dynamic networking. In MANET each node works as a router and autonomously performs mobile practicality. The link connectivity changes ceaselessly because of mobility to reflect this routing information additionally needs to get changed ceaselessly. AODV protocol is projected for this extraordinarily mobile network. In ancient AODV if any node fails in middle of transmission the method starts from the source node but in our propose scheme the transmission starts from the closest neighbor node therefore shows very important reduction in delay and improvement in packet delivery ratio are achieved. It also reduces the routing overhead by reducing the frequency of route discovery process.

Book Experimental study of Network based Novel Adaptive Routing Algorithm for Wireless Ad Hoc Network

This book was released on 2015-06-24 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ad hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes which dynamically form a temporary network without any infrastructure or centralize entity. There are number of routing protocol exists in ad hoc network and this protocols have been compared. These protocols are like DSR (Dynamic Source Routing), AODV (Ad-hoc On Demand Distance Vector Routing Algorithm), and TORA (Temporally Ordered Routing Algorithm) like more. AODV is Reactive routing protocol. We modify the existing AODV protocol. All Routing Protocol have different Strategies of routing like End to End delay, Packet delivery ratio, Traffic overhead and Power Consumptions. Routing Deals with route discovery between source and destination. Aim of Dissertation is to improve route error tolerance mechanism of AODV. In our propose scheme the transmission starts from closest neighbor node if the link fail in middle of the transmission. That shows very important reductions in delay and it improves the packet delivery ratio. It also reduces the routing overhead by reducing frequency of route discovery process.
