Book Simulation Based Analysis and Evaluation of Tactical Multi Hop Radio Networks

Download or read book Simulation Based Analysis and Evaluation of Tactical Multi Hop Radio Networks written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many years, the technologies involved in the newest generations of tactical communication equipment have increased the reliability and security of tactical voice communications from the highest to the lowest levels of combat command. However, the complexities inherent to wireless data networks have prevented the reach of valuable data links from extending efficiently and reliably to the lowest levels of tactical command. This thesis attempts to quantify the performance of tactical data networks using existing technologies and currently deployed mobile wireless networking devices by analyzing the results of network simulations involving currently deployed devices. By quantifying these performance metrics and comparing them to previously collected simulation results involving experimental technologies, we hope to provide a mode of comparison that will accurately reflect the degree to which newer mobile wireless networking devices will benefit our operational forces.

Book Performance Evaluation of Multihop Packet Radio Networks by Simulation

Download or read book Performance Evaluation of Multihop Packet Radio Networks by Simulation written by David Hilton Shur and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Packet switched networks provide an efficient and flexible method for interconnecting geographically distributed users for the purpose of digital data transmission. In packet radio networks, nodes transmit packets over multiple-access broadcast radio channels instead of wire, cable or fiber optics links. If the destination node of a packet is not within the power range of its source node, intermediate nodes are needed to deliver the packet in a store-and-forward fashion. Therefore, multihop packet radio networks have both the multiple-access feature typical of broadcast networks and the store-and-forward feature of point-to-point networks. Since only under restrictive assumptions is performance analysis tractable, simulation techniques must be used. (jes).

Book Spectrum Trading in Multi Hop Cognitive Radio Networks

Download or read book Spectrum Trading in Multi Hop Cognitive Radio Networks written by Miao Pan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SpringerBrief focuses on spectrum trading designs in multi-hop cognitive radio networks. It starts with the motivation for spectrum trading and the review of existing spectrum trading designs. Then, it presents a novel CRN architecture for spectrum trading considering spectrum trading’s economic features and wireless nature. Under this network architecture, it extends current single-hop per-user based spectrum trading design into a multi-hop transmission opportunity based one, and further into a session based one, while having economic properties guaranteed. This SpringerBrief not only provides a good review of current spectrum trading designs, it also touches on the cutting-edge interdisciplinary spectrum trading research on disparate fields of modeling, network architecture design, optimization theories, statistics, and economic theories. Advanced-level students studying computer science, electrical and computer engineering and economics, wireless network planners, and wireless spectrum engineers will find this book a useful tool.

Book Measurement and Evaluation Studies of Packet Radio Telecommunications Systems

Download or read book Measurement and Evaluation Studies of Packet Radio Telecommunications Systems written by W. W. Chu and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of this contract is to develop tools for, and to perform, evaluation of Packet Radio Network in support of the evolution of packet radio technology. The activities include: (1) Measurement Activities: We have continued guiding the development of measurement tools and performed measurement experiments. Progress in this contract period was slow due to the lack of testbed availability and the occupation of implementors in other priority tasks, such as the deployment of Ft. Bragg packet radio network. (2) Simulation Activities: Two simulation packages have been developed, a detailed simulation which closely simulates the radio subnet, and a system-level simulation which aims at high level investigation of pertinent design issues. and (3) Analytical Investigation: It has progressed from studies of channel access schemes to packet hop transport system from multihop networks. Employing mathematical analysis and simulation, we have conducted studies in support of the PRNET design and implementation efforts.

Book Performance Evaluation in Multi Rate Multi Hop Communication Networks with Adaptive Routing

Download or read book Performance Evaluation in Multi Rate Multi Hop Communication Networks with Adaptive Routing written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Accurate performance evaluation has always been an important issue in network design and analysis. Discrete event simulation has been known to be accurate, but very time-consuming. Thus, analytical methods/approximation is necessary for real-time estimation, large-scale network optimization, and sensitivity analysis. In a circuit-switched loss network, a particular performance metric of interest is the end-to-end blocking probability. Various analytical approaches and approximation schemes have been suggested for this problem, and among them, the fixed-point method, or reduced load method, has received much attention. However, most of these schemes considered either only single traffic rate situations or multi-rate traffic under fixed routing. The authors have developed an approximation scheme to estimate end-to-end blocking probability in a multi-rate, multi-hop network with an adaptive routing scheme. The approximation results are compared with that of discrete event simulation. An example of application also is provided in which the proposed scheme is linked to the optimization tool CONSOL-OPTCAD to get network design trade-offs. The method described here is readily applicable to the accurate performance evaluation of military networks, which are often large and hybrid.
