Book Methods of Gas Analysis Classic Reprint

Download or read book Methods of Gas Analysis Classic Reprint written by Walther Hempel and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Methods of Gas Analysis IN publishing my New Methods for the Analysis of Gases, it was not my intention to write a manual of gas analysis, but merely to describe my own re searches and the construction of apparatus. My present plan, however, after ten years' experience and the most varied work with gases and their analysis, is to describe all of the operations which are involved in the analysis of gases with my appa ratus. I have thought to give the book especial value by limiting myself to the description of those methods which, in my opinion, are at the present time the most practical. I have hot endeavoured to give a complete description of all known methods, because the book would then become too bulky to be used as the laboratory guide which it is intended to be. The apparatus devised by Pettersson has been described, because a wholly new principle in the measurement of gases is there brought into use. In the following pages I hope to give a guide to gas analysis by the help of which the various examina tions, even the most difficult, can be carried out. Book Handbook of Technical Gas Analysis Classic Reprint

Download or read book Handbook of Technical Gas Analysis Classic Reprint written by Clemens Alexander Winkler and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-07-06 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Handbook of Technical Gas-Analysis Every one who has to make gas-analyses for technical purposes is aware that Professor Clemens Winkler is the founder of technical gas-analysis as a distinct branch of analytical Chemistry. A few such processes were, of course, previously known and practised; but Winkler was the first to draw attention to the importance of this subject, to invent suitable apparatus, and to elaborate a complete system of qualitative and quantitative technical gas-analysis, containing a vast number of new observations and methods, along with a very complete description of the work already done in the same direction by others. The field first opened out by Winkler has been very successfully cultivated by other chemists; and it is now quite usual, at any rate in Germany, to perform technical gas-analyses, not merely in chemical works, but for testing the efficiency of steam-boiler furnaces and such purposes. In England some of these processes have also been introduced; but they are not as yet known and appreciated to the same extent as abroad. Hence it may not be unwelcome to English chemists to have a translation of a short treatise, just published by Winkler, which is primarily intended for teaching purposes - that is, for the use of teachers and students in public laboratories - but which likewise serves as a guide and a handy book to other chemists wishing to make themselves acquainted with the subject. This treatise is not intended, as was its predecessor, to furnish a complete enumeration of all apparatus hitherto proposed for technical gas-analysis, but merely to give representative examples of each kind of apparatus, embracing all the divisions of this branch of Chemistry. Book Technical Gas and Fuel Analysis Classic Reprint

Download or read book Technical Gas and Fuel Analysis Classic Reprint written by Alfred H. White and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-14 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Technical Gas and Fuel Analysis The years intervening since the appearance of the first edition have seen a distinct increase in our knowledge of the subjects covered in this book. Standard Methods for Samming and Analysis of Coal and Coke and also for Examination of Liquid Fuels have been studied and approved by several technical societies. Methods for analysis of gases have been critically studied and new technique developed by the staffs of various organizations, notably the Bureau of Mines and the Bureau of Standards, and by a number of individual workers. The litera ture has been carefully reviewed for this edition and the inclusion of new material has increased the size of the book about twenty per cent. No attempt has been made to describe all of the new methods nor to illustrate all of the various forms of apparatus now on the market. On the contrary the effort has been to illustrate types and to indicate essential features. Criticism has been solicited from teachers who have used the book as a text and the needs of students have been kept in mind, but the intention has also been to make the book one which would supply the practicing engineer and chemist with the most necessary information. Book The Gas Engineer s Laboratory Handbook Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Gas Engineer s Laboratory Handbook Classic Reprint written by John Hornby and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-24 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Gas Engineer's Laboratory Handbook The object of this volume, as its title implies, is to describe the various analytical operations which are required in Gas works. In order to make it useful to those who may not have the Opportunity of access to other works on analysis, the general operations incidental to the carrying out of analytical operations are described in detail, and further, as a means of assisting those who are dependent on self study, the methods of analysing certain substances obtainable in a perfectly pure state, and consequently having an established composition, are minutely described; these examples are chosen, as being typical of the more commonly occurring analyses required in Gasworks, as they involve the same methods of manipulation. By comparing the results obtained in the analysis of these simple substances with the figures demanded by theory, the operator can satisfy himself as to his competency to perform the same operations when they occur in the estimations required in his daily work. For example, the analysis of barium chloride serves as a type of the methods of manipulation necessary in the determination of sulphur in coal, coke, and gas, and in ascertaining the accuracy of the solutions employed in the Referees' Ammonia Test, &0. The estimation of calcium serves as a type of the analysis of lime; and so on. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Gasology Being a Reprint From the Gas Engine Course of Gas Review

Download or read book Gasology Being a Reprint From the Gas Engine Course of Gas Review written by UNKNOWN. AUTHOR and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-16 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Gasology Being a Reprint From the Gas Engine Course of Gas Review This little volume is a compilation of the first twenty-seven lessons of the "Gas Engine Course" which has been published as a serial in Gas Review. When Gas Review first started three years ago it was deemed advisable to offer a complete course in gas and gasoline engineering. One requirement of these lessons was that they were to be written in plain, simple language that anyone could understand. We have followed that idea all the way through and the lessons won the approval of our readers from the start. There were many calls for back copies of Gas Review from those who subscribed late and who wanted to own a complete copy of the lessons and we concluded to publish them in book form since we were unable to supply back copies of the magazine. The lessons do not cover the whole subject for the reason that they are not yet completed. However, as far as they have gone they cover the subject quite completely and it is believed will give the reader much valuable information in regard to the best modern practice. We have drawn freely from many sources in preparing the lessons and make no claims for originality in anything except the phraseology and general arrangement of the subject matter. In these particulars we believe we have succeeded in producing a book that has the great merit of clearness and simplicity. It is a book primarily for the beginner and the actual user.
