Book Graph Representation Learning

Download or read book Graph Representation Learning written by William L. William L. Hamilton and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-01 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Graph-structured data is ubiquitous throughout the natural and social sciences, from telecommunication networks to quantum chemistry. Building relational inductive biases into deep learning architectures is crucial for creating systems that can learn, reason, and generalize from this kind of data. Recent years have seen a surge in research on graph representation learning, including techniques for deep graph embeddings, generalizations of convolutional neural networks to graph-structured data, and neural message-passing approaches inspired by belief propagation. These advances in graph representation learning have led to new state-of-the-art results in numerous domains, including chemical synthesis, 3D vision, recommender systems, question answering, and social network analysis. This book provides a synthesis and overview of graph representation learning. It begins with a discussion of the goals of graph representation learning as well as key methodological foundations in graph theory and network analysis. Following this, the book introduces and reviews methods for learning node embeddings, including random-walk-based methods and applications to knowledge graphs. It then provides a technical synthesis and introduction to the highly successful graph neural network (GNN) formalism, which has become a dominant and fast-growing paradigm for deep learning with graph data. The book concludes with a synthesis of recent advancements in deep generative models for graphs—a nascent but quickly growing subset of graph representation learning.

Book Art Gallery Theorems and Algorithms

Download or read book Art Gallery Theorems and Algorithms written by Joseph O'Rourke and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1987 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Art gallery theorems and algorithms are so called because they relate to problems involving the visibility of geometrical shapes and their internal surfaces. This book explores generalizations and specializations in these areas. Among the presentations are recently discovered theorems on orthogonal polygons, polygons with holes, exterior visibility, visibility graphs, and visibility in three dimensions. The author formulates many open problems and offers several conjectures, providing arguments which may be followed by anyone familiar with basic graph theory and algorithms. This work may be applied to robotics and artificial intelligence as well as other fields, and will be especially useful to computer scientists working with computational and combinatorial geometry.

Every day, at work, home, and school, we are bombarded with vast amounts of free data collected and shared by everyone and everything from our co-workers to our calorie counters. In this highly anticipated follow-up to The Functional Art—Alberto Cairo’s foundational guide to understanding information graphics and visualization—the respected data visualization professor explains in clear terms how to work with data, discover the stories hidden within, and share those stories with the world in the form of charts, maps, and infographics. In The Truthful Art, Cairo transforms elementary principles of data and scientific reasoning into tools that you can use in daily life to interpret data sets and extract stories from them. The Truthful Art explains: • The role infographics and data visualization play in our world • Basic principles of data and scientific reasoning that anyone can master • How to become a better critical thinker • Step-by-step processes that will help you evaluate any data visualization (including your own) • How to create and use effective charts, graphs, and data maps to explain data to any audience The Truthful Art is also packed with inspirational and educational real-world examples of data visualizations from such leading publications as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Estado de São Paulo (Brazil), Berliner Morgenpost (Germany), and many more.

Book Introduction to Graph Theory

Book A Course on the Web Graph

Download or read book A Course on the Web Graph written by Anthony Bonato and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A Course on the Web Graph provides a comprehensive introduction to state-of-the-art research on the applications of graph theory to real-world networks such as the web graph. It is the first mathematically rigorous textbook discussing both models of the web graph and algorithms for searching the web. After introducing key tools required for the study of web graph mathematics, an overview is given of the most widely studied models for the web graph. A discussion of popular web search algorithms, e.g. PageRank, is followed by additional topics, such as applications of infinite graph theory to the web graph, spectral properties of power law graphs, domination in the web graph, and the spread of viruses in networks. The book is based on a graduate course taught at the AARMS 2006 Summer School at Dalhousie University. As such it is self-contained and includes over 100 exercises. The reader of the book will gain a working knowledge of current research in graph theory and its modern applications. In addition, the reader will learn first-hand about models of the web, and the mathematics underlying modern search engines."--Publisher's description.
