However, there is a balance to it all; love, compassion, friendships, and raw honesty find their place of purpose. The military or war side of this double life is the crazy and insane part of my story. The extremes range from flying back to base for an emergency landing in a crippled plane that was hit by enemy fire over the Cambodian border to being frustrated when we cannot hear the Super Bowl football game. Why, because the rockets fired by Cobra gun ships hovering over our barracks are making far too much noise. We are under attack and getting our ass kicked. Crazy, yes! The insane aspects show up in all the drugs that play out in this dark and evil playground that so many of us find as entertainment. Alcohol and marijuana are rampant, a common factor that gives way to speed and heroin as the war wages on. These two worlds are my life, a life that plays out in a daring, risk taking balancing act. Love and compassion dares to exist among the dark magic of ¿the Nam¿¿the crazy, the insane.
