Download or read book Shippingport Atomic Power Station Quarterly Operating Report Second Quarter 1979 written by and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of the second quarter of 1979, the Shippingport Atomic Power Station remained shutdown for the normally planned semiannual maintenance and testing program, initiated March 23, 1979. The station was in a cooldown condition at approximately 150/sup 0/F and 300 psig with a steam bubble maintained in the pressurizer and the reactor coolant pumps in slow speed. The reactor plant cooldown heat exchanger was in service to maintain coolant temperature. The 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D reactor coolant loops and the 1AC and 1BD purification loops remained in service. The remainder of the expended PWR Core 2 was in storage under shielding water in the deep pit of the Fuel Handling Building. The 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D 991 psig self-actuated steam relief valves remained gagged during the quarter to prevent leakage through the valve seats. Gagging of redundant relief valves is permitted by ASME Code and approved operating procedure. The LWBR Core has generated 10,771.43 EFPH from start-up through the end of the quarter.

Book Shippingport Atomic Power Station Quarterly Operating Report Fourth Quarter 1979

Download or read book Shippingport Atomic Power Station Quarterly Operating Report Fourth Quarter 1979 written by and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of the fourth quarter of 1979, the Shippingport Atomic Power Station was in operation with the 1A, 1B and 1C loops operating and the Station limited to 70% power. The 1D loop was isolated due to a small primary system coolant leak found on the one inch bonnet vent line on the 1D reactor coolant loop manual isolation valve (05-H6-8). The idle 1D coolant loop was cross connected to the operating 1B coolant loop for pressure control through the purification system inlet valves as per approved operating procedures. The 1AC and 1BD purification loops remained in service.

During the quarter, the Station was operated for Duquesne Light Company system grid including base load and swing load operation. Seven (7) swing load operations were performed on the LWBR Core this quarter to complete the LWBR operating plan of fifty (50) during this operating phase. The LWBR Core has generated 10,771.43 EFPH from startup through the end of the quarter. The generator load factor this quarter was 85%.

Book Shippingport Atomic Power Station Quarterly Operating Report Third Quarter 1979

Download or read book Shippingport Atomic Power Station Quarterly Operating Report Third Quarter 1979 written by and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of the third quarter of 1979, the Shippingport Atomic Power Station remained shutdown to complete repairs of the turbine generator hydrogen circulation fan following discovery of a rubbing noise on May 24, 1979. The Station was in a cooldown condition at approximately 180/sup 0/F and 300 psig with a steam bubble in the pressurizer and the reactor coolant pumps in slow speed. The reactor plant cooldown heat exchanger was in service to maintain coolant temperature. The 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D reactor coolant loops and the 1AC and 1BD purification loops remained in service. All expended PWR Core 2 fuel elements have previously been shipped off-site. The remaining irradiated PWR Core 2 core barrel and miscellaneous refueling tools were in storage under shielding water in the deep pit of the Fuel Handling Building. The LWBR Core has generated 12,111.00 EFPH from startup through the end of the quarter.

Book Shippingport Atomic Power Station Quarterly Operating Report Second Quarter 1980

Download or read book Shippingport Atomic Power Station Quarterly Operating Report Second Quarter 1980 written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of the second quarter of 1980, the Shippingport Atomic Power Station remained shutdown for the normally planned semiannual maintenance and testing program, initiated February 29, 1980. The station was in a cooldown condition at approximately 150/sup 0/F and 300 psig with a steam bubble maintained in the pressurizer and the reactor coolant pumps in slow speed. The station remained in a cooled down condition until April 8, when a plant heat-up was initiated and completed on April 11, from which time normal operating parameters were maintained. The reactor was operated at low power levels as required for cold and hot planned testing. Base mode operations began on April 19. Swingload operations began May 20 and occurred daily through May 29 with levels ranging down to 30% to 60% power. On May 30, the station underwent a planned shutdown to perform test procedure LWBR-DLCS 64601, Bank Reactivity Worth and Temperature and Power Coefficients of Reactivity at Power. On May 31, criticality was achieved and the station returned to full power. Swingload operations resumed on June 1 and continued daily through the end of the quarter with the exceptions of June 17 and June 30. Swingload levels ranged down to 27.5% to 60% power.
