Book The Effect of the Blue Light Diode Laser on Shear peel Bond Strength of Orthodontic Brackets with Varying Curing Time and Distance

Download or read book The Effect of the Blue Light Diode Laser on Shear peel Bond Strength of Orthodontic Brackets with Varying Curing Time and Distance written by Kamran Shaikh and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Background: Light cured composite resin can be time consuming for bonding orthodontic brackets. A new Blue light diode laser may reduce curing times for composite resins. Hypothesis: The laser will achieve similar bond strengths in half the time and at greater distances as the LED. Methods: 90 extracted premolars will be bonded and cured using Laser and LED curing units at varying times, another 120 extracted premolars will be bonded and cured at varying distances. An Instron machine will be used to test shear bond strength. Results: The laser was not able to achieve similar bond strengths as the LED curing light in half of the curing time. At 5 seconds, the laser had 35% lower bond strengths but was still in the clinically acceptable range. The laser achieved similar bond strengths when the curing tip was at greater distances as when it was close to the bracket-adhesive-tooth interface.

Book Dental Composite Materials for Direct Restorations

Download or read book Dental Composite Materials for Direct Restorations written by Vesna Miletic and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-25 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers both basic scientific and clinically relevant aspects of dental composite materials with a view to meeting the needs of researchers and practitioners. Following an introduction on their development, the composition of contemporary composites is analyzed. A chapter on polymerization explains the setting reactions and light sources available for light-cured composites. The quality of monomer-to-polymer conversion is a key factor for material properties. Polymerization shrinkage along with the associated stress remains among the most challenging issues regarding composite restorations. A new classification of dental composites is proposed to offer more clinically relevant ways of differentiating between commercially available materials. A review of specific types of composites provides an insight into their key issues. The potential biological issues of dental composites are reviewed in chapters on elution of leachable substances and cariogenicity of resin monomers. Clinical sections focus on material placement, finishing procedures, and the esthetics and clinical longevity of composite restorations. Bonding to tooth tissues is addressed in a separate chapter, as is the efficiency of various composite repair methods. The final chapter discusses future perspectives on dental composite materials.

Book Visible Light Communications

Download or read book Visible Light Communications written by Zhaocheng Wang and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-11-29 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A complete and comprehensive reference on modulation and signal processing for visible light communication This informative new book on state-of-the-art visible light communication (VLC) provides, for the first time, a systematical and advanced treatment of modulation and signal processing for VLC. Visible Light Communications: Modulation and Signal Processing offers a practical guide to designing VLC, linking academic research with commercial applications. In recent years, VLC has attracted attention from academia and industry since it has many advantages over the traditional radio frequency, including wide unregulated bandwidth, high security, and low cost. It is a promising complementary technique in 5G and beyond wireless communications, especially in indoor applications. However, lighting constraints have not been fully considered in the open literature when considering VLC system design, and its importance has been underestimated. That’s why this book—written by a team of experts with both academic research experience and industrial development experience in the field—is so welcome. To help readers understand the theory and design of VLC systems, the book: Details many modern techniques on both modulation and signal processing aspects Links academic research with commercial applications in visible light communications as well as other wireless communication systems Combines theoretical rigor with practical examples in presenting optical camera communication systems Visible Light Communications: Modulation and Signal Processing serves as a useful tool and reference book for visible light communication professionals, as well as wireless communication system professionals and project managers. It is also an important guide for undergraduates and graduates who want to conduct research in areas of wireless communications.
