Download or read book Shattered Into Pieces The Broken Mirror written by LALA and published by Writers Republic LLC. This book was released on 2022-12-09 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book that you about to read comes from a woman telling her story of the pain she experienced and the love she thought she had. I have seen people in this world go through different types of traumas that all started off from their childhood lifestyle that led them to be in situations like this one. I wrote this book from the bottom of my heart because I wanted to share my story with others, I wanted to be able to let the people in the world know what I experienced in the time of my storm. I realized that it’s someone out there who needs help in healing and breaking free, so I decided to write a book called shattered into pieces because everything I went through, I was so broken in pieces I was fragile, I was depressed, I lost myself in the time of pain. I want to be able to help others by writing this book, telling them my story, telling them what happen to me, telling them how I overcame this, giving them encouraging words, testimony, prayer and more.

It's when you finally accept that you are flawed, shattered, and unable to recognize your own face in the mirror. It's preferring the darkness because the light forces you to see the masks that have no connection to who you truly are within. It's when you have worn so many masks for so many people that you begin to lose track of which mask was shown to whom. Broken Little Pieces takes you on the journey that feels like a stripping down to the core of who you are; in order to be built up to who you should be. It's learning to pick up all of the pieces to create the mosaic of your life's dna. It's accepting your past, pain, and shame and no longer allowing it to define you. It's realizing that your are imperfectly whole with all of your broken little pieces. Allowing yourself to be brave, vulnerable, and mask free. Refusing to no longer be invisible, but loving yourself as a unique work of art. Come along on my journey as I show you how an Invisible child grew up to become an Invisible wife. A life's journey forever searching to be seen, heard, and validated. You will see how my invisibility allowed me to create masks and the illusion of perfection in every area of my life. Then, during a visit to a gay bar, Bekim meets a talking cat who moves in with him and his snake. It is this witty, charming, manipulative creature who starts Bekim on a journey back to Kosovo to confront his demons and make sense of the magical, cruel, incredible history of his family. And it is this that, in turn, enables him finally, to open himself to true love—which he will find in the most unexpected place

Download or read book The New Negro written by Henry Louis Gates Jr. and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2021-06-08 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When African American intellectuals announced the birth of the "New Negro" around the turn of the twentieth century, they were attempting through a bold act of renaming to change the way blacks were depicted and perceived in America. By challenging stereotypes of the Old Negro, and declaring that the New Negro was capable of high achievement, black writers tried to revolutionize how whites viewed blacks--and how blacks viewed themselves. Nothing less than a strategy to re-create the public face of "the race," the New Negro became a dominant figure of racial uplift between Reconstruction and World War II, as well as a central idea of the Harlem, or New Negro, Renaissance. Edited by Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and Gene Andrew Jarrett, The New Negro collects more than one hundred canonical and lesser-known essays published between 1892 and 1938 that examine the issues of race and representation in African American culture. These readings--by writers including W.E.B. Du Bois, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Alain Locke, Carl Van Vechten, Zora Neale Hurston, and Richard Wright--discuss the trope of the New Negro, and the milieu in which this figure existed, from almost every conceivable angle. Political essays are joined by essays on African American fiction, poetry, drama, music, painting, and sculpture. More than fascinating historical documents, these essays remain essential to the way African American identity and history are still understood today.

Book Crafting Feminism from Literary Modernism to the Multimedia Present

Download or read book Crafting Feminism from Literary Modernism to the Multimedia Present written by Amy E. Elkins and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022-10 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crafting Feminism develops a dynamic study of craft and art-making in modern and contemporary feminist writing. In evocative readings of literary works from Virginia Woolf to Zadie Smith, this book expands our sense of transartistic modernist scholarship to encompass process-oriented and medium-specific analyses of textile arts, digital design, collage, photography, painting, and sculpture in literary culture. By integrating these craft practices into the book's enlightening archive, Elkins's theoretical argument extends a reading of craft metaphors into the material present. Crafting Feminism demonstrates how writers have engaged with handiwork across generations and have undertaken the crafting of a new modernity, one that is queer and feminist-threaded, messy, shattered, cut-up, pasted together, preserved, repaired, reflected, and spun out. An avant-garde work of scholarship, this book interweaves queer research methods and interdisciplinary rigor with a series of surprising archival discoveries. Making visible the collaborative, creative features of craft, Elkins captivates readers with generous illustrations and a series of "Techne" interchapters-interludes between longer chapters, which powerfully convey the symbiosis between feminist theory and method, and detail the network of archival influences that underpin this volume's hybrid approach. Foregrounding the work of decentering patriarchal and Eurocentric legacies of artistic authority, Elkins champions the diverse, intergenerational history of craft as a way to reposition intersectional makers at the heart of literary culture. An original and compelling study, Crafting Feminism breaks new ground in modernist and visual studies, digital humanities, and feminist, queer, and critical race theory.
