A great deal of African Americans were still in the South, picking cotton, chopping cotton, and working on plantations. Little did we know that in the 1960s, there was an industrial revolution not only in the north with the steel mills, stockyards, constructions, and in others, like domestic jobs in the home, hotels, and for drivers in all aspects of transportation. Every Sunday morning, African Americans would attend church, all day long in most situations because that was a tradition that was taking place in the South during the sharecropping days and slavery days. I found out that a great deal of churches provided financial support and education for the laughs because Americans were sharecroppers. African Americans, with their best Sunday clothes on, headed to the church to thank God for another week. Traditions such as gold traditions were maintained by the shoppers and also African American landholders and owners as well. There was also a great deal of landowners doing shopping. At this time, they did not have as much property as plantation owners. But they were lying on this, and they had so much pride in what they did in their work. These basic and general values for African Americans on Sundays is very powerful. Let us look forward to the next book that will discuss what happened after 1965 once the sharecropper grandson enters the Chicago metropolitan area after being gone for seven years and see his views and understanding of returning back from the rule of Mississippi to the Uptown Chicago. Lets see what changes in opportunity that will be taken advantage of and the disadvantages that he will experience. This is my view. He had escaped slavery in the hold--of a ship four years earlier, fleeing to Canada, then became a master spy for the Union Army. Now, in the days after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, Galloway had returned to North Carolina, becoming the leader of more than 4,000 escaped slaves who had joined him in New Bern, North Carolina. We will join the Union Army, Galloway told the recruiter, but only on our terms. Galloway then laid down his demands: the right to vote; the right to serve on juries; the right to run for elected office; equal pay for Black and white soldiers; schools for their children; jobs for women; and care for their families. In retrospect, the demands seem revolutionary. But not so, given the roles that Blacks were playing in the war. Hence, the recruiter said yes. Within days, 10,000 Blacks had joined Galloway to enlist in the Union Army. Those soldiers--along with nearly 200,000 other Blacks who enlisted--proved pivotal to destroying the system of plantation slavery. Soon, they would inaugurate the quest to create a truly democratic America"--

Without such concurrent, supportive measures the success of population control as a one-shot measure, operated however vigorously over a short span of time is very likely severely to backfire, as indeed it did in the beginning of 1977. Measures to improve the quality of population to the point where the support for tight control measures could be easily generated, are inexpensive and possible at the present level of India’s economic development, provided the ground is cleared for greater public involvement in the welfare and economic programmes through greater vertical decentralization and horizontal spread. The country would never scrape up the financial and other resources to achieve all these targets within the foreseeable future if the programmes continued to be based on standard governmental norms of expenditure, outfit and per capita performance, but could possibly overfulfil the targets if the right type of motivational and organizational effort is mounted to build up on the social deployment of surpluses of human energy and enterprise for community needs.
