It is designed to cut through the veil of strongholds and bondage promoted by the media, politicians, false prophets and society in general. Restoration is a Bible based program. Scripture is taken as current, relevant truth. Restoration is designed for Christians who have been led astray, love the Lord and desire a relationship with God based on His guidelines not their personal and collective comfort. This program is not apologetics. It is not a platform for debate contrary to biblical teaching. It designed to be a biblical think tank. Questions are welcome and openly discussed. It has a very simple premise "Choose this day whom you will serve"...self or GOD.

Download or read book The Shaming of Sexual Offenders written by Anne-Marie McAlinden and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2007-04-05 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the 2008 British Society of Criminology Book Prize Sex offenders, particularly those who offend against children, feature prominently in contemporary law and order debates. Child sexual abuse is a small component of the broader category of 'gendered and sexualised violence' which causes significant trauma for victims yet continues to evade conventional approaches to justice. This is evidenced not only by the low number of prosecutions, due mostly to low levels of reporting and evidential difficulties at trial, but also by the failure of the justice system to prevent re-offending, largely due to the limited availability and effectiveness of prison treatment programmes. Following Braithwaite's dichotomy of 'reintegrative' and 'disintegrative' shaming, this book argues that contemporary popular and state-led responses to the risk posed by sex offenders are largely disintegrative in nature. At best, the offender may be labelled, stigmatised and ostracised from the community, while at worst, he may be subjected to violence and vigilante action and ultimately return to offending behaviour. The failure of these retributive responses means there is considerable scope for exploring alternative forms of justice and their potential for improving the outcome for victims, offenders and communities affected by sexual offences. This book examines the controversy of whether restorative justice can be applied to child sexual abuse as one of the most intractable of contemporary societal problems, and if so, what special considerations might apply. Although restorative schemes with sex offenders are in short supply, a few initiatives have developed in Canada and parts of the United States which have effected significant benefits in 'reintegrative shaming.' The book examines whether such ad hoc schemes may be of general application with child sexual abuse and whether they may be implemented on a more holistic basis.

Download or read book Rebuilding the Walls written by James Kelly and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-06-22 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are few situations in the life of a church that are more disruptive or destructive than the presence of sin in the life of its membership, especially the leadership. Too often we see the presence of sin as a fatal situation. Yet sin, properly dealt with, rather than destroying the church or those involved, may become a catalyst for growth--both for the church body and those involved in whatever sin is present. Christ and the apostle Paul laid out instructions for taking the presence of sin, challenging those involved and restoring their walk with Christ. Therefore, we must, if we consider ourselves as a spiritual people, resolve to restore those impacted by sin and see them resume their walk with Christ (Gal 6:1).

Book Restore Such a One

    Book Details:
  • Author : Lance M. Bacon
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2024-08-01
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 385 pages

Download or read book Restore Such a One written by Lance M. Bacon and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-08-01 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Widespread deficiencies in spiritual formation see an increasing number of ministers buckle under the significant burdens common to the task. There are seasons when a powerful triad of the flesh, the world, and the devil converge (Eph 2:2-3, cf. Jas 3:15 and 1 John 2:16). Misdirected attempts to fulfill emptiness, find worth, or heal longstanding wounds ensue. Widespread instances of sexual immorality result. Sound exegesis and analysis of theological doctrine presents an allowance, in certain cases, for ministerial restoration. However, this necessitates an intimate and intricate approach that differs significantly from the varied solutions churches and denominations offer. Few restoration programs bring a biblical response to bear. Remarkably rare are restoration programs that look to correct causal factors and commit to congregational care. This program orients itself on an understanding of brokenness and the need for holistic (re)formation. The latter requires fallen ministers to progress beyond biblical confession and repentance to partner with the Holy Spirit and key authorities such as an overseer, mentors, Christian mental health professionals, and a designated congregation. The unitive goal is a "sanctifying psychopathology" that properly diagnoses spiritual and emotional health; eradicates the adverse influences of emotional, cultural, and spiritual factors; and redirects self-oriented patterns of thought and behavior.

Book Restoring Harm

    Book Details:
  • Author : Daniela Bolívar
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2019-01-24
  • ISBN : 1317593391
  • Pages : 340 pages

Download or read book Restoring Harm written by Daniela Bolívar and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-01-24 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To what extent is restorative justice able to ‘restore’ the harm suffered by victims of crimes of interpersonal violence? Restorative justice is an innovative, participatory and inclusive reaction to crime that permits victims and offenders to engage in a communication process about the consequences of the offence. It looks to the future, actively involving parties to find, agree and implement ways to repair the harm. Restoring Harm analyses the restoration process from a psychosocial point of view and discusses the role of victim–offender mediation within such a process. It brings together literature from the fields of restorative justice, victimology and psychology, and shares original findings from victims who were interviewed in Belgium and Spain. This book not only offers descriptive findings but also provides a theoretical and comprehensive model that elucidates several possibilities for why victim–offender mediation may or may not play a role in victims’ processes of emotional restoration. Well informed and well documented, this volume brings together evidence from different regions and develops a detailed discussion of the ‘effectiveness’ of restorative justice with regard to victims. Providing new and solid evidence thanks to a quasi-experimental methodological design, theory and practice come together to offer relevant reflections for researchers and practitioners who are concerned about the victim’s position within victim–offender mediation and desire to develop a victim-sensitive restorative justice practice.

Book Sexual Violence and Restorative Justice

Download or read book Sexual Violence and Restorative Justice written by Marie Keenan and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concerned by the high attrition rates for sexual crime and the secondary victimization experienced by victims during their participation in the criminal justice system, this book analyses the extent to which restorative justice can address the justice gap that exists in current justice provision. Building on clinical experience and earlier research on sexual crime the authors engage with the complex dynamics and traumatic impact of sexual crime as a critical starting point for their research and examine whether restorative justice can contribute to a more enhanced justice response. The book presents extensive new data on restorative justice as applied in sexual violence cases across the globe. It engages with feminist concerns regarding the traumatic impact of sexual violence and the potential for re-traumatisation; the power imbalances that characterise these offences and the potential for re-victimisation; the potential for coercion of the victim to participate in the process; the potential for manipulation of restorative justice by the offender; and the potential that restorative justice could lead to the reprivatisation of sexual crime and ultimately to its decriminalisation. Having examined these topics in detail, the book concludes there is an important role for restorative justice in addressing the justice gap that exists after sexual crime and offers guidance on how this can be achieved.
