Book NADH the Biological Hydrogen

Download or read book NADH the Biological Hydrogen written by George D. Birkmayer and published by Basic Health Publications, Inc.. This book was released on 2009 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most promising natural substance in our body is NADH, the biological form of hydrogen. It reacts with the oxygen present in every living cell, producing energy and water. The more NADH a cell has available, the more energy it can produce, the better it functions, and the longer the cell-and the entire organism-lives. ATP is the life energy for every cell. If less NADH is present in the cell, less ATP is synthesized. Certain diseases, particularly Alzheimers̲ dementia and Parkinsons̲ disease, are caused by impairment in ATP production. We can increase the ATP content in a cell by supplementing with NADH. Men and women are better protected against health problems the more NADH they have available in their bodies. NADH has numerous functions in the body: it repairs DNA and revitalizes damaged cells, acts as a potent antioxidant, lowers cholesterol and high blood pressure, and boosts the immune system. NADH has proven effective for the following conditions: -Parkinsons̲ disease Depression -Chronic fatigue syndrome Cancer -Alzheimers̲ dementia Strokes Diabetes NADH has therapeutic uses for menopause, obesity, skin problems, jet lag, and sexual dysfunction. Athletes have also found it useful for boosting athletic performance, and it may even help you live a longer and healthier life. Though NADH is present in foods, we take up only marginal amounts from our daily diet. Fortunately, a safe and effective NADH supplement is now available. Written by the developer of oral NADH, this book will inform readers about NADH, its functions that are essential for life and its multiple healthful effects in the human body.

Book Pain Management and the Opioid Epidemic

Download or read book Pain Management and the Opioid Epidemic written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2017-09-28 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drug overdose, driven largely by overdose related to the use of opioids, is now the leading cause of unintentional injury death in the United States. The ongoing opioid crisis lies at the intersection of two public health challenges: reducing the burden of suffering from pain and containing the rising toll of the harms that can arise from the use of opioid medications. Chronic pain and opioid use disorder both represent complex human conditions affecting millions of Americans and causing untold disability and loss of function. In the context of the growing opioid problem, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched an Opioids Action Plan in early 2016. As part of this plan, the FDA asked the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to convene a committee to update the state of the science on pain research, care, and education and to identify actions the FDA and others can take to respond to the opioid epidemic, with a particular focus on informing FDA's development of a formal method for incorporating individual and societal considerations into its risk-benefit framework for opioid approval and monitoring.

Book Progress in Multiple Sclerosis Research

Download or read book Progress in Multiple Sclerosis Research written by Frank H. Columbus and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2005 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a life-long chronic disease diagnosed primarily in young adults. During an MS attack, inflammation occurs in areas of the white matter of the central nervous system (nerve fibres that are the site of MS lesions) in random patches called plaques. This process is followed by destruction of myelin, which insulates nerve cell fibres in the brain and spinal cord. Myelin facilitates the smooth, high-speed transmission of electrochemical messages between the brain, the spinal cord, and the rest of the body. The initial symptom of MS is often blurred or double vision, red-green colour distortion, or even blindness in one eye. Most MS patients experience muscle weakness in their extremities and difficulty with co-ordination and balance. Most people with MS also exhibit paresthesias, transitory abnormal sensory feeling such as numbness or pins and needles. Some may experience pain or loss of feeling. About half of people with MS experience cognitive impairments such as difficulties with concentration, attention, memory, and judgement. This volume presents leading research from around the globe.

Book The Physician s Guide to Diving Medicine

Download or read book The Physician s Guide to Diving Medicine written by C.B. Carlston and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is designed to be a physician's guide for those interested in diving and hyperbaric environments. It is not a detailed document for the erudite researcher; rather, it is a source of information for the scuba-diving physician who is searching for answers put to him by his fellow nonmedical divers. Following the publication of The Underwater Handbook: A Guide to Physiology and Performance for the Engineer there were frequent requests for a companion volume for the physician. This book is designed to fill the void. Production of the book has been supported by the Office of Naval Research and by the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Research and Development Command, under Navy Contract No. NOOOOI4-78-C-0604. Our heartfelt thanks go to the many authors without whose contributions the book could not have been produced. These articles are signed by the responsible authors, and the names a~e also listed alphabetically in these preliminary pages. Every chapter was officially reviewed by at least one expert in the field covered and these reviewers are also listed on these pages. Our thanks go to them for their valuable assistance. We are grateful to Marthe Beckett Kent for editing Chapter III. Our thanks also go to Mrs. Carolyn Paddon for typing and retyping the manuscripts, and to Mrs. Catherine Coppola, who so expertly handled the many fiscal affairs.
