Book Separation of Niobium and Tantalum

Download or read book Separation of Niobium and Tantalum written by Ernest L. Koerner and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During recent years increased interest has been shown in the metal niobium. The Atomic Energy Commission has encouraged research on new methods of winning the metal from its ores with the ultimate hope of finding a process which would yield niobium metal at a reasonable price. This report was written to consolidate the more important information available in the literature on the separation of niobium and tantalum.

Book The Extraction and Separation of Niobium and Tantalum by Liquid liquid Extraction Using Tri n butyl Phosphate

Download or read book The Extraction and Separation of Niobium and Tantalum by Liquid liquid Extraction Using Tri n butyl Phosphate written by and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The system proposed for the production of niobium and tantalum is liquid-liquid extraction by TBP. The combined niobium and tantalum are extracted with TBP, and the niobium is scrubbed from the organic phase with 4 N sulphuric acid. Any tantalum removed with the niobium is re-extracted with TBP and returned to the extraction circuit. Tantalum is then removed from the organic phase with 8 per cent ammonium fluoride. Recovery figures are given for the various stages of the operation, and equilibrium and settling curves are included. The long-term stability of the process and its final optimization were not investigated, and it is recommended that the optimization should be done during the commissioning of the plant.

Book Extractive Metallurgy of Niobium

Download or read book Extractive Metallurgy of Niobium written by A.K. Suri and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The growth and development witnessed today in modern science, engineering, and technology owes a heavy debt to the rare, refractory, and reactive metals group, of which niobium is a member. Extractive Metallurgy of Niobium presents a vivid account of the metal through its comprehensive discussions of properties and applications, resources and resource processing, chemical processing and compound preparation, metal extraction, and refining and consolidation. Typical flow sheets adopted in some leading niobium-producing countries for the beneficiation of various niobium sources are presented, and various chemical processes for producing pure forms of niobium intermediates such as chloride, fluoride, and oxide are discussed. The book also explains how to liberate the metal from its intermediates and describes the physico-chemical principles involved. It is an excellent reference for chemical metallurgists, hydrometallurgists, extraction and process metallurgists, and minerals processors. It is also valuable to a wide variety of scientists, engineers, technologists, and students interested in the topic.
