Book Seeing as Practice

Download or read book Seeing as Practice written by Eva Schuermann and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-12-02 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study provides an overview of philosophical questions relating to sight and vision. It discusses the intertwinement of seeing and ways of seeing against the background of an entirely different theoretical framework. Seeing is both a proven means of acquiring information and a personality-specific way of disclosing the apparent, perceptible world, conditioned by individual and cultural variations. In a peculiar way, the eye holds a middle position between inside and outside of the self and its relations towards itself and others. This book provides a way out of false alternatives by offering a third way with reference to concrete cases of aesthetical and ethical experiences. It will be of particular interest to scholars of the phenomenology and philosophy of perception and it will be valuable to students of philosophy, cultural studies and art.

Book The Gift of Vision

Download or read book The Gift of Vision written by Traci Wargo and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2009-07 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gift of Vision: Seeing Beyond the Veil of Time describes Traci Wargo's amazing experience of true vision. This God-given gift of being able to perceive only the innocence and purity in all things lasted intensely for five full days, gradually lessening over the course of a month. During this experience she was awakened out of the dream of time and realized her true identity as spirit, and she remembered God! Traci discusses the illusory world, her true identity as spirit, her miracle of instant healing, God and the ego's thought system, conviction and thought, and the importance of practicing true forgiveness in order to heal. Traci shares what it was like before, during, and after her experience occurred, in order to show us that ordinary people like herself can absolutely have extraordinary experiences that reveal the truth. Desire is the key, indeed. After God exposed the truth to her, she did her part and exposed it to us. Now she beckons us to open up our hearts and minds to a better way. Traci is a firm believer in the book A Course in Miracles, and she writes that her experience confirmed, in every way imaginable, that what it speaks of is true.

Book Have Anything You Really Really Want

Download or read book Have Anything You Really Really Want written by Charles H. Muller and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-06-09 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have Anything You Really Really Want! is a thought-provoking study about the power of positive thinking and the Christian faith. It follows the authors own personal journey of faith and discovery as he details how his Christian faith unleashed a positive powerin the attainment of personal, even material goals (including the acquisition of university degrees and a Rolls Royce!), but more significantly in the realisation of far-reaching goals: the discovery of his wife and ultimately the transition from university professor in South Africa to successful hotel-owner in Scotland. An important lesson in the experience of mid-life change is seen in the close dependence on Gods love and boundless supply for all needs, material and spiritual. From establishing an objective, working out a strategy, and using faith and initiative, this detailed thesis explores the essential principles for personal success and achievement and guides the reader step-by-step through the practical process of attaining his or her goals. In the final analysis, however, it asks whether it is the individual, or the invisible hand of Providence, which engineers the successeven to the extent of changing ones original goals, and changing oneself in the process.

Book Low Power CMOS Digital Pixel Imagers for High Speed Uncooled PbSe IR Applications

Download or read book Low Power CMOS Digital Pixel Imagers for High Speed Uncooled PbSe IR Applications written by Josep Maria Margarit and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-12-29 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the development of a new low-cost medium wavelength IR (MWIR) monolithic imager technology for high-speed uncooled industrial applications. It takes the baton on the latest technological advances in the field of vapor phase deposition (VPD) PbSe-based MWIR detection accomplished by the industrial partner NIT S.L., adding fundamental knowledge on the investigation of novel VLSI analog and mixed-signal design techniques at circuit and system levels for the development of the readout integrated device attached to the detector. In order to fulfill the operational requirements of VPD PbSe, this work proposes null inter-pixel crosstalk vision sensor architectures based on a digital-only focal plane array (FPA) of configurable pixel sensors. Each digital pixel sensor (DPS) cell is equipped with fast communication modules, self-biasing, offset cancellation, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and fixed pattern noise (FPN) correction. In-pixel power consumption is minimized by the use of comprehensive MOSFET subthreshold operation.

Book Transfiguring Luther

    Book Details:
  • Author : Vitor Westhelle
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2016-05-23
  • ISBN : 1625642164
  • Pages : 355 pages

Download or read book Transfiguring Luther written by Vitor Westhelle and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-05-23 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Luther's theology and practice have inspired and continue to inspire so many across confessional and even religious alignments worldwide, or else excite those for whom he displays a coveted, untamed audacity in living out convictions; it is the fabric, the texture that makes Luther a figura with the capability of being transfigured. Luther's theology--his view of language and understanding of creation, incarnation, the cross; his affirmation of freedom from ecclesial, economic, and/or political encroachments; his eschatology, and so forth--is seen in a new light in societies in which modernization does not necessarily mean secularization and the spirit is not set in dual opposition to things material. The dispute as to whether Luther is a late medieval theologian or a beacon of modernity is rendered largely superfluous when the Reformer is read and interpreted in contexts that do not share the peculiar cultural and political history of Europe, its orthodoxies, its pietisms, its enlightenments, and its secularisms. Transfiguring Luther lifts up and presents the significance of the Reformer--his figure as it is transfigured into diverse contexts, absorbing new contents instead of the traditional bastions that are remarkably in tune with the spirit of the Reformation, thus rekindling it.
