Book Biblical Secrets to Business Success

Download or read book Biblical Secrets to Business Success written by Bob Diener and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-03-07 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the road to becoming a successful entrepreneur, Bob Diener confronted a lot of tough issues: how to treat employees, how to please customers, whether or not to cut corners, whether to follow the temptation of an unsavory deal… Although he had no formal business training, Bob found solutions to all these issues and reached the top using a simple strategy that is available to anyone. His secret? Careful study of “the best guidebook to running a successful business ever written”: the Bible. Difficult dilemmas become easy when viewed from the biblical perspective. “Our work is meaningless unless to do good,” counsels the Book of Ecclesiastes. Companies that abide by the Bible's rules of business tend to be the ones that prosper long term. Companies that cheat their workers and partners, defraud their customers, and operate unethically don't stay in business very long. You too can become a successful entrepreneur by following the tips, strategies, and biblical principles outlined in this exploration of best practices for market research, labor management, business negotiations, risk mitigation, watching the bottom line, and, perhaps most important of all, leaving a lasting legacy.Bob Diener and his partner David Litman created the company that became hotels.com, which pioneered hotel distribution online. When Bob and his partner took the company public in 2000, the stock price soared from $16 to $90 in one of the most successful IPOs ever. Having gone on to cofound getaroom.com, Bob is a familiar presence on national media outlets, offering his sage advice on the travel industry.

Book Revealing the Secrets of the Jews

Download or read book Revealing the Secrets of the Jews written by Jonathan Adams and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the most recent scholarship on the sixteenth-century convert Johannes Pfefferkorn and his context. Pfefferkorn is the most (in)famous of the converts from Judaism who wrote descriptions of Jewish ceremonial life and shaped both Christian ideas about Judaism and the course of anti-Jewish polemics in the early modern period. Rather than just rehearsing the better-known aspects of Pfefferkorn’s life and the controversy with Johannes Reuchlin, this volume re-evaluates the motives behind his activities and writings as well as his role and success in the context of Dominican anti-Jewish polemics and Imperial German politics. Furthermore, it discusses other converts, who similarly "revealed the secrets of the Jews", and contains detailed studies of the campaigns against the Talmud and other Jewish books as well as the diffusion of Pfefferkorn's books and other anti-Jewish writings throughout early modern Europe. Revealing the Secrets of the Jews thus presents new perspectives on Jewish-Christian relations, the study of religion and Christian Hebraism, and the history of anthropology and ethnography.

Book Genius Anxiety

Download or read book Genius Anxiety written by Norman Lebrecht and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-12-03 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This lively chronicle of the years 1847–1947—the century when the Jewish people changed how we see the world—is “[a] thrilling and tragic history…especially good on the ironies and chain-reaction intimacies that make a people and a past” (The Wall Street Journal). In a hundred-year period, a handful of men and women changed the world. Many of them are well known—Marx, Freud, Proust, Einstein, Kafka. Others have vanished from collective memory despite their enduring importance in our daily lives. Without Karl Landsteiner, for instance, there would be no blood transfusions or major surgery. Without Paul Ehrlich, no chemotherapy. Without Siegfried Marcus, no motor car. Without Rosalind Franklin, genetic science would look very different. Without Fritz Haber, there would not be enough food to sustain life on earth. What do these visionaries have in common? They all had Jewish origins. They all had a gift for thinking in wholly original, even earth-shattering ways. In 1847, the Jewish people made up less than 0.25% of the world’s population, and yet they saw what others could not. How? Why? Norman Lebrecht has devoted half of his life to pondering and researching the mindset of the Jewish intellectuals, writers, scientists, and thinkers who turned the tides of history and shaped the world today as we know it. In Genius & Anxiety, Lebrecht begins with the Communist Manifesto in 1847 and ends in 1947, when Israel was founded. This robust, magnificent, beautifully designed volume is “an urgent and moving history” (The Spectator, UK) and a celebration of Jewish genius and contribution.

Book The Chosen Few

    Book Details:
  • Author : Maristella Botticini
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2012
  • ISBN : 0691144877
  • Pages : 346 pages

Download or read book The Chosen Few written by Maristella Botticini and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maristella Botticini and Zvi Eckstein show that, contrary to previous explanations, this transformation was driven not by anti-Jewish persecution and legal restrictions, but rather by changes within Judaism itself after 70 CE--most importantly, the rise of a new norm that required every Jewish male to read and study the Torah and to send his sons to school. Over the next six centuries, those Jews who found the norms of Judaism too costly to obey converted to other religions, making world Jewry shrink. Later, when urbanization and commercial expansion in the newly established Muslim Caliphates increased the demand for occupations in which literacy was an advantage, the Jews found themselves literate in a world of almost universal illiteracy. From then forward, almost all Jews entered crafts and trade, and many of them began moving in search of business opportunities, creating a worldwide Diaspora in the process.
