Book Search for Supersymmetry Using Rare B0 subscript subscript d to mu mu Decays at CDF Run II

Download or read book Search for Supersymmetry Using Rare B0 subscript subscript d to mu mu Decays at CDF Run II written by Vyacheslav Krutelyov and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for rare B0 [subscript]s to [mu][mu]− and B0 [subscript]d to [mu][mu]− decays has been performed in pp̄ collisions at [square root]s = 1.96 TeV using 364 pb−1 of data collected by the CDF II experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The rate of each decay is sensitive to contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). No events pass the optimized selection requirements, consistent with the SM expectation. The resulting upper limits on the branching ratios are [beta](B0 [subscript]s to [mu]+[mu]−)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors report on a search for B{sub s}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} and B{sub d}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} decays in p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV using 171 pb{sup -1} of data collected by the CDF II experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The decay rates of these rare processes are sensitive to contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model. One event survives all the selection requirements, consistent with the background expectation. They derive branching ratio limits of {Beta}(B{sub s}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -})

Book Search Supersymmetry in the Dilepton Final State with Taus at CDF Run II

Download or read book Search Supersymmetry in the Dilepton Final State with Taus at CDF Run II written by Robert David Forrest and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents the results a search for chargino and neutralino supersymmetric particles yielding same signed dilepton final states including one hadronically decaying tau lepton using 6.0 fb−1 of data collected by the the CDF II detector. This signature is important in SUSY models where, at high tan [beta], the branching ratio of charginos and neutralinos to tau leptons becomes dominant. We study event acceptance, lepton identification cuts, and efficiencies. We set limits on the production cross section as a function of SUSY particle mass for certain generic models.

Download or read book Search for Bs D Mu Mu Decays with 10 FB of Pp Collisions written by Walter Hopkins and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for the rare decays of B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-] and B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-] is presented in p p collis d [SQUARE ROOT] sions at s=1.96 TeV corresponding to 10 fb[-]1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector. The observed number of B0 candidates is consistent with d background-only expectations and yields an upper limit on the branching fraction B(B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-]) of 4.2 x 10[-]9 at 95% confidence level. An excess is observed d for the B0 signal region. The probability that background processes alone could s produce such an excess or larger is 0.94%. The probability that the combination of background and the expected standard model rate B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-] could produce s such an excess or larger is 6.8%. These data are used to determine a central value of B(B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-]) = (1.3+0.9) x 10[-]8 as well as a two sided limit at 90% C.L. s [-]0 7 of 2.2 x 10[-]9

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors search for b → s??− transitions in B meson (B+, B°, or B{sub s}°) decays with 924 pb−1 of p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. They find excesses with significances of 4.5, 2.9, and 2.4 standard deviations in the B+ →?+?−K+, B° →?+?−K*(892)°, and B{sub s}° →?+?−? decay modes, respectively. Using B → J/?h (h - K+, K*(892)°,?) decays as normalization channels, they report branching fractions for the previously observed B+ and B° decays as normalization channels, they report branching fractions for the previously observed B+ and B° decays,?(B+ →?+?−K+) = (0.59 ± 0.15 ± 0.04) x 10−6, and?(B° →?+?−K*(892)°) = (0.81 ± 0.30 ± 0.10) x 10−6, where the first uncertainty is statistical, and the second is systematic. These measurements are consistent with the world average results, and are competitive with the best available measurements. They set an upper limit on the relative branching fraction?(B{sub s}°→?+?−?)/?(B{sub s}°→J/??)

Book Probing Supersymmetry in Rare B Decays

Download or read book Probing Supersymmetry in Rare B Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We determine the ability of future experiments to observe supersymmetric contributions to the rare decays B[r-arrow] X[sub s][gamma] and B[r-arrow] X[sub s]l[sup+]l[sup -]. A global fit to the Wilson coefficients which contribute to these decays is performed from Monte Carlo generated data. This fit is then compared to supersymmetric predictions for several different patterns of the superpartner spectrum.

Book excerpt: We report recent results on rare B decays searches -- specifically, the decay modes B[sup 0][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup[minus]], B[sup 0][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup[minus]]K[sup 0*], and B[sup[plus-minus]][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup[minus]]K[sup[plus-minus]] -- from the CDF collaboration using data from the 1992--1993 run of the Tevatron collider. In addition, we present the first CDF measurement of time dependent B[sup 0][minus][bar B][sup 0] mixing.

Book Search for Supersymmetry at CDF

Download or read book Search for Supersymmetry at CDF written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have conducted a search for trilepton events from supersymmetry (SUSY) in p[bar p] collisions at [radical]s = 1.8 TeV. In the Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), trilepton events are expected from chargino-neutralino ([tilde [chi]][sub 1][sup [plus-minus]][tilde [chi]][sub 2][sup [minus]0]) pair production, with subsequent decay into leptons. In all possible combinations of electron and muon channels in 19 pb[sup [minus]1] data, we observe no events which pass our trilepton selection criteria. Employing the GUT hypothesis within the framework of the MSSM, our preliminary excludes M([tilde [chi]][sub 1][sup [plus-minus]])
