Book Search for Supersymmetry at the Tevatron Using the Trilepton Signature

Download or read book Search for Supersymmetry at the Tevatron Using the Trilepton Signature written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation describes a search for the associated production of the supersymmetric particles, the chargino and the neutralino, through their R-parity conserving decays to three leptons and missing energy. This search is carried out using the data collected at the CDF experiment at the Tevatron's = 1.96 TeV p-anti-p collider at Fermilab. The results are obtained by combining five independent channels with varying signal to background ratio. Overall, a total of 6.4 [plus minus] 1.1 background events from standard model processes and 11.4 [plus minus] 1.1 signal events for a particular choice of mSUGRA model parameters are expected. The observation of 7 events in data is consistent with the standard model background expectation, and the mSUGRA model is constrained. Limits are set on the cross section of Chargino-Neutralino pair production, and a limit on the mass of the chargino is extracted. A method of obtaining model-independent results is also discussed.

Book excerpt: This dissertation describes a search for the associated production of the supersymmetric particles, the chargino and the neutralino, through their R-parity conserving decays to three leptons and missing energy. This search is carried out using the data collected at the CDF experiment at the Tevatron (square root)s = 1.96 TeV p{bar p} collider at Fermilab. The results are obtained by combining five independent channels with varying signal to background ratio. Book Searches for Supersymmetry at the Tevatron

Download or read book Searches for Supersymmetry at the Tevatron written by Arnd Meyer and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both Tevatron experiments, D0 and CDF, have searched for signs of Supersymmetry in the present Run II data sample, using integrated luminosities of up to 260 pb{sup -1} collected in p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. In these proceedings, new results are presented in the search for squarks and gluinos in the jets and missing transverse energy final state, associated production of charginos and neutralinos with multilepton final states, search for the rare decay B{sub s} {yields} {mu}{mu}, searches allowing R-parity violation (muons+jets, multileptons), and searches in the gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking framework with the final state of two photons and missing transverse energy. In the absence of any significant deviation from Standard Model expectations, limits on the presence of new physics are set, which in many cases are the most stringent to date.

Book excerpt: We review some of the latest results on Supersymmetry searches at the Fermilab tevatron Collider. The final states for supersymmetric processes are preferably described in terms of the physical signatures produced by the particles involved. Accordingly we look at: missing transverse energy, E{sub T}, related to the presence of neutral and stable supersymmetric particles; jets, from the decay of squarks or gluinos; leptons, coming for instance from gaugino decays; photons, predicted in gauge-mediated models. We discuss here some of the most recent results on SUSY searches performed at the Fermilab Tevatron by the CDF and D0 collaborations. The CDF and D0 detectors[1, 2] collected, during the 1992-96 period (Run I), about 100 pb−1 of p{bar p} collisions. The most relevant up-grades for the current run (Run II, started in March 2001) refer mainly to the tracking and trigger system, with minor improvements to the calorimetry and muon systems.

Book excerpt: We review current experimental results of searches for Supersymmetry (SUSY) at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider using the Run I data collected during 1992-1996. New results from the CDF detector in the jets + missing E{sub t} and lepton-photon channels are presented. Recent results from model independent searches at D0 using the SLEUTH algorithm are reviewed. We discuss the prospects for supersymmetry searches at Run II of the Tevatron, scheduled to start in March, 2001.

Book Search for Supersymmetry in Trilepton Final States with the D0 Detector

Download or read book Search for Supersymmetry in Trilepton Final States with the D0 Detector written by Marc Hohlfeld and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The data taken by the D0 experiment at the proton-antiproton collider Tevatron has been used to search for signatures with two or more leptons and missing transverse energy as they are expected for the decay of pair produced Charginos and Neutralinos. No excess above the Standard Model prediction has been observed and the results have been used to set mass limits for these particles.

Book SUSY Searches at the Tevatron

Download or read book SUSY Searches at the Tevatron written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CDF and D0 have performed searches for Supersymmetry with data collected at (square root)s = 1.8 TeV during the years 1992-95. These searches are based on detector signatures: events with appreciable missing transverse energy plus jets with or without dileptons can signal squark and gluino production; the spectacular signature of trilepton events can result from the production of charginos and neutralinos; and the inclusion of R parity violation can produce events with like-sign dileptons and no missing transverse energy. Results from these analyses are presented.

Book Supersymmetry at the Tevatron

Book excerpt: These lectures contain an introduction to the search for supersymmetry at hadron colliders. The Tevatron is one of high-energy physics most sophisticated tools. The high center-of-mass energy of its proton-antiproton collisions makes it an ideal place to search for physics beyond the Standard Model, such as supersymmetry. Two experiments, CDF and D0, completed a long data taking period in summer of 1995, yielding over 100 pb−1 of proton-antiproton interactions. The data recorded by the experiments are still being analyzed. The lectures outline the strategies in the search for supersymmetry at the Tevatron and examine the major analyses in detail. Results obtained by the two experiments are included where available.

Book Searching for Supersymmetry with Tri Leptons and Missing Transverse Energy Using the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider

Download or read book Searching for Supersymmetry with Tri Leptons and Missing Transverse Energy Using the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider written by Nikoloz Skhirtladze and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here, we target supersymmetry scenarios where the colored superpartners are assumed to be heavy (and decoupled). We consider the possibility of light sleptons, giving rise to pp ..., where the decays to leptons are mediated by intermediate on-shell sleptons. We also consider the possibility that the sleptons are heavy, leaving only three-body decays through Standard Model W's and Z's. An extensive overview of the data-driven methods used to model the behavior of background processes is given as well. This analysis focuses on this type of direct electroweak supersymmetry production, and we set further constraints on the masses of chargino and neutralino particles.

They present recent results in Supersymmetry with the upgraded CDF and D0 detectors and give some prospects for the future of these searches.
