Download or read book Search for Neutral Higgs Bosons in the Multi b jet Topology in 5 2fb 1 of p bar p Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data recorded by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider are analyzed to search for neutral Higgs bosons produced in association with b quarks. The search is performed in the three-b-quark channel using multijet-triggered events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2 fb−1. In the absence of any significant excess above background, limits are set on the cross section multiplied by the branching ratio in the Higgs boson mass range 90 to 300 GeV, extending the excluded regions in the parameter space of the minimal supersymmetric standard model.

Book A Search for Neutral Higgs Bosons at High Tan Beta in Multi jet Events from P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2

Download or read book A Search for Neutral Higgs Bosons at High Tan Beta in Multi jet Events from P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2 written by Andrew C. Haas and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Higgs mechanism preserves the gauge symmetries of the Standard Model while giving masses to the W, Z bosons. Supersymmetry, which protects the Higgs boson mass scale from quantum corrections, predicts at least 5 Higgs bosons, none of which has been directly observed. This thesis presents a search for neutral Higgs bosons, produced in association with bottom quarks. The production rate is greatly enhanced at large values of the Supersymmetric parameter tan {beta}. High-energy p{bar p} collision data, collected from Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron using the D0 detector, are analyzed. In the absence of a signal, values of tan {beta}> 80-120 are excluded at 95% Confidence Level (C.L.), depending on the (CP-odd) neutral Higgs boson mass (studied from 100 to 150 GeV/c{sup 2}).

Download or read book Search for Neutral Supersymmetric Higgs Bosons in boldmath p bar p Collisions at boldmath sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report results of searches for neutral supersymmetric Higgs Bosons in up to 2.7 fb−1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The final states include muons, taus, and jets from the decay of b hadrons. The searches observe no significant excess and set upper limits on neutral Higgs production cross sections. The limits are also translated into exclusions of MSSM parameter space.

This book was released on 2011 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report results from a search for neutral Higgs bosons produced in association with b quarks using data recorded by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 fb−1. This production mode can be enhanced in several extensions of the standard model (SM) such as in its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) at high tan [beta]. We search for Higgs bosons decaying to tau pairs with one tau decaying to a muon and neutrinos and the other to hadrons. The data are found to be consistent with SM expectations, and we set upper limits on the cross section times branching ratio in the Higgs boson mass range from 90 to 320 GeV/c2. We interpret our result in the MSSM parameter space, excluding tan [beta] values down to 25 for Higgs boson masses below 170 GeV/c2.

Book D0 Search for the Higgs Boson in Multijet Events

Download or read book D0 Search for the Higgs Boson in Multijet Events written by Alex Melnitchouk and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present two searches for the Higgs boson in {radical}s = 1.96 TeV p{bar p} collisions using data taken with the D0 detector during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The first study is a search for neutral Higgs bosons produced in association with bottom quarks. The cross sections for these processes are enhanced in many extensions of the standard model (SM), such as in its minimal supersymmetric extension at large tan {beta}. The results of our analysis agree with expectations from the SM, and we use our measurements to set upper limits on the production of neutral Higgs bosons in the mass range of 90 to 150 GeV. The second study is a search for the standard model Higgs boson produced in association with the Z boson. We study the p{bar p} {yields} ZH {yields} {nu}{bar {nu}}b{bar b} channel, which is one of the most sensitive ways to search for light Higgs bosons at the Tevatron. We select multijet events with large imbalance in transverse momentum and two b-tagged jets. Then we search for a peak in invariant mass distribution of two b-tagged jets. After subtracting the backgrounds, we set the 95% C.L. upper limits on the {sigma}(p{bar p} {yields} ZH {yields} {nu}{bar {nu}}) x BR(H {yields} b{bar b}) for Higgs masses between 105 and 135 GeV.

This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report on a search for the standard model Higgs boson produced in association with a W or Z boson in p{bar p} collisions at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV recorded by the CDF II experiment at the Tevatron in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb−1. We consider events which have no identified charged leptons, an imbalance in transverse momentum, and two or three jets where at least one jet is consistent with originating from the decay of a b hadron. We find good agreement between data and predictions. We place 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross section for several Higgs boson masses ranging from 110 GeV/c2 to 150 GeV/c2. For a mass of 115 GeV/c2 the observed (expected) limit is 6.9 (5.6) times the standard model prediction.

This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search is performed for the standard model Higgs boson in 5.2 fb−1 of p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV, collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The final state considered is a pair of b jets and large missing transverse energy, as expected from p{bar p} → ZH → [nu]{bar [nu]}b{bar b} production. The search is also sensitive to the WH → l{nu}b{bar b} channel when the charged lepton is not identified. For a Higgs boson mass of 115 GeV, a limit is set at the 95% C.L. on the cross section multiplied by branching fraction for (p{bar p} → (Z/W)H) x (H → b{bar b}) that is a factor of 3.7 larger than the standard model value, consistent with the factor of 4.6 expected.

Download or read book Search for Neutral Higgs Bosons Decaying to Tau Pairs in P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2 written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for the production of neutral Higgs bosons ? decaying into ?+?− final states in p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV is presented. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 325 pb−1, were collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Since no excess compared to the expectation from standard model processes is found, limits on the production cross section times branching ratio are set. The results are combined with those obtained from the D0 search for ?b({bar b}) → b{bar b}b({bar b}) and are interpreted in the minimal supersymmetric standard model.

Download or read book Search for the Higgs Boson Produced with Z to ell ell in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a search for the Higgs boson in the process q{bar q} → ZN → l+l− b{bar b}. The analysis uses an integrated luminosity of 1 fb−1 of p{bar p} collisions produced at √s = 1.96 TeV and accumulated by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF II). They employ artificial neural networks both to correct jets mismeasured in the calorimeter, and to distinguish the signal kinematic distributions from those of the background. They see no evidence for Higgs boson production, and set 95% CL upper limits on [sigma]{sub ZH} · [Beta](H → b{bar b}), ranging from 1.5 pb to 1.2 pb for a Higgs mass (m{sub H}) of 110 to 150 GeV/c2.

Book Search for Higgs Bosons Produced in Association with B Quarks

Download or read book Search for Higgs Bosons Produced in Association with B Quarks written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a search for neutral Higgs bosons [phi] decaying into b{bar b}, produced in association with b quarks in p{bar p} collisions. This process could be observable in supersymmetric models with high values of tan [beta]. The event sample corresponds to 2.6 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We search for an enhancement in the mass of the two leading jets in events with three jets identified as coming from b quarks using a displaced vertex algorithm. A data-driven procedure is used to estimate the dijet mass spectrum of the nonresonant multijet background. The contributions of backgrounds and a possible Higgs boson signal are determined by a two-dimensional fit of the data, using the dijet mass together with an additional variable which is sensitive to the flavor composition of the three tagged jets. We set mass-dependent limits on [sigma](p{bar p} → [phi]b) x [Beta]([phi] → b{bar b}) which are applicable for a narrow scalar particle [phi] produced in association with b quarks. We also set limits on tan [beta] in supersymmetric Higgs models including the effects of the Higgs boson width.
