Book Search for High Mass Photon Pairs in P anti P Collisions at s

Download or read book Search for High Mass Photon Pairs in P anti P Collisions at s written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present results of a search for diphoton resonances produced inclusively and in association with a vector boson using 100 pb−1 of p{anti p} collisions using the CDF detector. They set upper limits on the product of cross section times branching ratio for p{anti p} →?? → X and p{anti p} →?? → W/Z. Using a NLO prediction for associated production cross section of a Higgs with a vector boson (W or Z), they set an upper limit on the branching ratio for H →??. They set a lower limit on the mass of a b̀osophilic ̀Higgs boson (e.g. one which couples only to?, W, and Z bosons with Standard Model couplings) of 82 GeV/c2 at 95% C.L.

Book Search for High Mass Photon Pairs in P anti P jj Events at s

Download or read book Search for High Mass Photon Pairs in P anti P jj Events at s written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for new physics in the channel p{anti p} →??jj has been studied. In some extended Higgs models, a light neutral scalar Higgs boson is produced with suppressed couplings to fermions and standard model(SM) strength couplings to vector bosons(bosonic Higgs), thus enhancing the H →?? channel. We required one photon in the event with E{sup?}{sub T}> 20 GeV, {vert_bar}?{sup?}{vert_bar} 1.1 or 1.5 {vert_bar}?{sup?}{vert_bar} 2.0 and a second photon with E{sup?}{sub T} 15 GeV, {vert_bar}?{sup?}{vert_bar}

Book Search for Resonant Production of High mass Photon Pairs in Proton proton Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book Search for Resonant Production of High mass Photon Pairs in Proton proton Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for the resonant production of high-mass photon pairs is presented. The analysis is based on samples of proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS experiment at center-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 19.7 and 3.3 inverse femtobarns, respectively. The search focuses on spin-0 and spin-2 resonances with masses between 0.5 and 4 TeV and with widths, relative to the mass, between 1.4E-4 and 5.6E-2. Limits are set on scalar resonances produced through gluon-gluon fusion, and on Randall--Sundrum gravitons. A modest excess of events compatible with a narrow resonance with a mass of about 750 GeV is observed. The local significance of the excess is approximately 3.4 standard deviations. The significance is reduced to 1.6 standard deviations once the effect of searching under multiple signal hypotheses is considered. More data are required to determine the origin of this excess.

Book Search for High mass Diphoton Resonances in pp Collisions at u221A s

Download or read book Search for High mass Diphoton Resonances in pp Collisions at u221A s written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This article describes a search for high-mass resonances decaying to a pair of photons using a sample of 20.3 fb-1 of pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The data are found to be in agreement with the Standard Model prediction, and limits are reported in the framework of the Randall-Sundrum model. This theory leads to the prediction of graviton states, the lightest of which could be observed at the Large Hadron Collider. A lower limit of 2.66 (1.41) TeV at 95% confidence level is set on the mass of the lightest graviton for couplings of k/M¯Pl = 0.1 (0.01).

Book Search for Heavy Long lived Particles that Decay to Photons in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Search for Heavy Long lived Particles that Decay to Photons in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation presents the results of the first search for heavy, neutral, longlived particles that decay to photons at a hadron collider. We use a sample of +jet+missing transverse energy events in $p \bar{p}$ collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV taken with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Candidate events are selected based on the arrival time of a high-energy photon at the electromagnetic calorimeter as measured with a timing system that was recently installed. The final result is that we find 2 events, using 570±34 pb-1 of data collected during 2004-2005 at the Fermilab Tevatron, consistent with the background estimate of 1.3±0.7 events. While our search strategy does not rely on model-specific dynamics, we interpret this result in terms of cross section limits in a supersymmetric model with $\vec{X}$$0\atop{1}$ eG and set a world-best e 01 mass reach of 101 GeV/c2 at e = 5 ns. We can exclude any [gamma]+jet+missing transverse energy signal that would produce more than 5.5 events.

Book Study of p bar P Collisions that Contain Leptons a Photon and a b quark Using the CDF II Detector

Download or read book Study of p bar P Collisions that Contain Leptons a Photon and a b quark Using the CDF II Detector written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a search for anomalous production of the signature lepton + photon + b-quark + missing transverse energy (`[gamma]6ETb) produced in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at √ s = 1.96 TeV using 6.0 fb-1 of data taken with the CDF detector in Run II at the Tevatron. In addition to this signature-based search, we present a closely-related search for top pair production with an additional radiated photon, t$\bar{t}$[gamma]. We find 85 `[gamma]6ETb events versus an expectation of 99.1±9.3 events. High-statistics control samples are used to evaluate a low-energy photon [chi] 2 cut. Additionally requiring the events to contain at least three jets, have a total transverse energy of 200 GeV, and that the photon candidate passes the [chi] 2 cut, we observe 30 t$\bar{t}$[gamma] candidate events versus an expectation from non-top Standard Model (SM) sources of 13.0 ± 2.1 Assuming the difference between the observed number and the predicted non-top SM total is due to top production, we measure the tt$\bar{[gamma]}$ cross section to be 0.18 ± 0.08 pb. We also measure the ratio of the t$\bar{t}$[gamma] cross section to the t$\bar{t}$cross section to be 0.024 ± 0.009, which compares well with a SM prediction of 0.024 ± 0.013.
