Book The School District Master Planning Guide

Download or read book The School District Master Planning Guide written by Robert Kies and published by . This book was released on 2014-06-09 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Challenges in today's schools often transcend the public classroom. Administrators are frequently faced with situations that require responsive actions rather than preventative measures. If school districts are to become world class institutions, master planning is an absolute necessity. Typically, books about master planning follow a specialized narrative which ultimately leaves the reader wondering how to implement the parts as a whole. By taking an organized executable approach to master planning, The School District Master Planning Guide describes education leadership endeavors in terms of programs, projects, functions and processes, which combined form an integrated holistic model. This holistic model takes the form of expanded descriptions, hierarchical listings, logical reasoning, and limited narration. Administrators and planning center personnel at all skill levels may immediate utilize The School District Master Planning Guide as a reference planning tool to develop and implement coherent master plans. The guide has been designed as a general overview of school district administration regarding educational administration in four phases or areas: Phase I: Organizational Planning (Organizational Planning Criteria Overview, Board of Education, Superintendent of the School System) Phase II: Curriculum Operations (Curriculum Operations Overview, Pupil Personnel Services, Curriculum Design and Development, Curriculum Instructional Delivery) Phase III: Support Systems (Support Systems Overview, Facilities, Nutrition Services, Transportation Services, Warehouse Services) Phase IV: Analytics (Analytics Overview, Solution Analysis Framework Overview, Master Plan Employment with PD&E Involvement) Additional uses may include the personnel selection and evaluation process, development of higher education administrative core curriculum coursework for continuing education, and administrative training for prospective administrative candidates. Appendix I is directed toward administrative training with situational questions designed to stimulate leadership thought, argument and introspection.

Book excerpt: This workbook presents a seven-step planning process for safe and effective schools. Though specifically directed to schools in California, most of the components of the plan will pertain to schools everywhere. The workbook contains requirements of the California Education Code; many work sheets, sample forms, summary sheets, checklists, rubrics, matrices, and definitions; and an action plan for each of the seven steps. The seven steps in the planning process are as follows: (1) Identify your safe-school planning committee members; (2) create a vision of your school as a place where students are safe to learn, and base that vision on youth development; (3) gather and analyze data; (4) identify strengths and areas of desired change, and set major annual goals for each of the two safe-school components; (5) select and implement strategies; (6) communicate the safety plan to the public, hold public meetings for input, and keep the updated plan available for public inspection; and (7) evaluate your progress, revise the plan annually, and include the plan in your school accountability report card. Book A Comprehensive School Safety Planning Manual

Download or read book A Comprehensive School Safety Planning Manual written by Marc Thibault and published by America Star Books. This book was released on 2013-12 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On December 14, 2012, a psychopath fatally shot twenty three children and six adults in school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. While driving home that afternoon, I heard the horrible news over the radio. I was horrified and astonished at the number of children and faculty killed. I pulled my car to the side of the road and began to cry. Having a daughter and son in school and a wife that teaches fourth grade, I just couldn't imagine anything happening to them. As the days went by, I pondered why our schools are not more secure. I realized that banks, corporations, and even pawn shops all have better security than schools. I believe towns can implement low cost initiatives that will improve school safety and security. Let's face it, the world is changing at a fast pace. Keeping our school children safe throughout the school day requires a whole new plan with specific objectives that our yesterdays could never have imagined. Now is the time for change.
