Book Turning Your Scars into Stars

Download or read book Turning Your Scars into Stars written by Edith Dolores Roman and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-09-06 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Turning Your Scars into Stars is about emotional scars on the heart, spirit, and soul. These types of scars are the most difficult and painful to heal. They consist of abandonment, chronic hurt, pain, rejection, and death. Two verses that comfort me tremendously are Deuteronomy 31:8, which says, The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged (NIV), and also 1 Corinthians 10:13, which says, God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it (NIV). My name is Edith Dolores Roman, and I must be honest and tell you that sometimes when life hit me full force, I felt that the challenges I faced were beyond my ability to overcome! Starting with my childhood, I was orphaned at age eleven, became a foster child, and eventually struggled to raise my two children as a single mother. However, with prayer, persistence, and the strength of God, I was able to overcome, and you are able to also! One more verse that helps me to continue to persevere through my problems is found in 2 Corinthians 12:9, when God reminds his servants, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness (NIV). This book is intended to help people in struggles go from the pit to the peak! My prayer is that this book will help you heal and that it will nurture your soul, just like Proverbs 16:24 says, Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones (NIV).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a world where the numbers of people suffering anxiety, and various unexplained chronic pain and fatigue syndromes is increasing year on year to the point where they are threatening the health systems of many developed countries. This groundbreaking book, written by a clinician and researcher, demystifies the many and varied symptoms of stress, trauma and unresolved emotion in the mind and body. Based on years of practice as a therapist and scientific researcher, it describes the latest research on the stress response and how it interacts with a sensitised brain. With an understanding of how a paleolithic brain became trapped in a 21st century body, we can see how our evolutionary survival strategies of implicit memory in the emotional brain have maladapted to a life full of chronic stress. Anything that triggers the same emotion in later life then fills us with anxiety and/ or chronic pain which defies a purely physical explanation. My belief, born out of study of the scientific literature, is that the problems are not just physical they are emotional too. In particular, by an appreciation of how any experience, if it occurs during a state of helplessness, can be considered trauma, we begin to appreciate how many and varied such experiences are. They include bereavement, difficult birth, accidents, surgery, poor parental attachment, bullying and abuse. The fact that they are common means that very few people escape a childhood without some of these experiences but it is the interaction with particular sensitive personality styles that determines whether traumatic memory formation becomes encoded and whether they become triggered into chronic symptoms occur in later life. I lift the lid on how the mind creates the symptoms largely through the down-regulation of the energy producing mitochondria in your cells. I show the fascinating truth behind this amazingly ancient process, meant to protect us when our stresses were very different to the ones we have today. Many books have been written on this subject from either a scientific or clinical point of view but this book aims to explain it all to an intelligent reader with examples from my own life and the experience of my clients in a way that unifies theory and practice towards a new understanding of chronic illness. By giving you information as to how you got this way I also show you, with practical examples, how to overcome these issues using a variety of new techniques of energy psychology and somatic therapies to help you change these subconscious programmes and move on with your life.

Download or read book I Come With Scars written by Latrese B. Carter and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2015-10-01 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scars...what are they? Scars are evidence that someone or something once caused an injury to a certain area which resulted in a wound that eventually healed. They are the result of a major or minor trauma. From an old battle scar to a previously painful paper cut, physical scars are real. But...what about the scars that eyes cannot see, cocoa butter cannot fade and a laser cannot remove? Truth is, we all have them; deeply hidden scars that are the evidence of past hurts. Some wounds never healed properly and caused more damage later on in the same area of the scar. It's called scar tissue which eventually will have to be surgically removed or it will cause an imperfection to the surface of the skin or internal damage. Yes...more pain, ! Have you ever heard the expression "that was the straw that broke the camel's back"? Let me break that down for you. If a lake is frozen over and a hammer continues to hit the lake's surface at the same place, it will eventually break. Okay...so...if you continue to experience the same type of hurt in the same area of your life, eventually you're going to break. The thing about life that we all must understand is that we all have wounds that eventually heal but whether seen on the surface or not, we all have scars. I wanted to start this book by introducing myself. Hello, my name is Latrese. I'm FLAWED but not ashamed & I COME WITH SCARS! A few years ago, there was a very popular television show that featured on primetime television in which people with issues with hoarding would receive help with cleaning up and out the clutter in their homes. I would watch the show as relatives, friends, neighbors, etc. would offer their opinions about what happened to their loved one that caused them to go "downhill." As the video cameras peruse the house, inside and out, the viewers are able to see the total disorganization, disarray, and dysfunction; some hazardous materials, dirty piles of clothing, food, newspapers, toys, cars, numerous animals, etc.; just a "bunch of junk"! Some of the people, labeled as "Hoarders," were faced with some serious risks. Many were at risk of losing their homes, others at risk of losing custody of their children, some were at risk of losing relationships with their family members, significant others, friends, etc. and all of them jeopardized their health. One might think, "That person is crazy. There must be something psychologically wrong with them. Don't they care about their health? Don't they care about their relationships? Don't they care about their children?" TRUTH is, if some of us would take a realistic look into our emotional mirrors, our hearts look just like their homes. The thing that struck me as interesting is how the show would bring in a clean-up crew and a psychologist/counselor to assist the "Hoarder" with cleaning up the mess; however, the "Hoarder" was allowed to mark (by placing an "X" on various objects) what stayed and what would go. That action alone reinforced my belief that at the end of the day, we can have a million people in our lives and in our corners but it is strictly up to us to determine who or what stays in our hearts and who or what goes. My hope for you is that after reading this book, you will choose to live free.

Book excerpt: A mythmaker of the highest order, China Miéville has emblazoned the fantasy novel with fresh language, startling images, and stunning originality. Set in the same sprawling world of Miéville’s Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning novel, Perdido Street Station, this latest epic introduces a whole new cast of intriguing characters and dazzling creations. Aboard a vast seafaring vessel, a band of prisoners and slaves, their bodies remade into grotesque biological oddities, is being transported to the fledgling colony of New Crobuzon. But the journey is not theirs alone. They are joined by a handful of travelers, each with a reason for fleeing the city. Among them is Bellis Coldwine, a renowned linguist whose services as an interpreter grant her passage—and escape from horrific punishment. For she is linked to Isaac Dan der Grimnebulin, the brilliant renegade scientist who has unwittingly unleashed a nightmare upon New Crobuzon. For Bellis, the plan is clear: live among the new frontiersmen of the colony until it is safe to return home. But when the ship is besieged by pirates on the Swollen Ocean, the senior officers are summarily executed. The surviving passengers are brought to Armada, a city constructed from the hulls of pirated ships, a floating, landless mass ruled by the bizarre duality called the Lovers. On Armada, everyone is given work, and even Remades live as equals to humans, Cactae, and Cray. Yet no one may ever leave. Lonely and embittered in her captivity, Bellis knows that to show dissent is a death sentence. Instead, she must furtively seek information about Armada’s agenda. The answer lies in the dark, amorphous shapes that float undetected miles below the waters—terrifying entities with a singular, chilling mission. . . . China Miéville is a writer for a new era—and The Scar is a luminous, brilliantly imagined novel that is nothing short of spectacular. BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from China Miéville’s Embassytown.
