Book excerpt: A cold war among the stars was growing hotter by the minute. As Pag and Cathrodyne struggled for domination, a hot war threatened which would rend and annihilate whole planetary systems. The two master races would have consumed one another long ago, but for one single factor: Waystation. It was a stupendous synthetic world, famed throughout this galaxy. For Waystation was controlled by a neutral people, and until the greater powers could seize this strategic wonder planet and ferret out its secrets, they were doomed to fretful inactivity. But as a Cathrodyne vessel drew near to Waystation, the all-important balance of power stood in sudden peril. The ship in itself was routine. But on board was a stranger, a man of undiscovered race, who spoke too little, and, it appeared, knew too much...

These stories have their characters from villages of India, depicts the suffering of animals, birds, trees, and environment. Dr. Pawan Kumar is a young emerging writer of India, who has published many stories and essays in renowned magazines of India and abroad. He has given multiple talks and conducted many radio programs on his work. He already has published four books about his stories, essays, and novels. Mankind has made irreversible dents on Mother Nature and has gone astray in fulfilling obligations and responsibilities toward her. The trees are being cut down, natural water reservoirs are being destroyed, and environment has become polluted, bringing the global warming at its climax. Many species are endangered now. Elephant tusks, animal skins, their skeletons and teeth are being smuggled through human network across the globe. Killings of animals are on the rise. These innocent animals who are voiceless suffer immensely by these inhumane and barbarian acts to fulfill mankinds food or monitory gains. These animals have the same emotions, feelings, and sentiments as human beings have. They love their family, and they mourn in their loss of their near or dear ones as we do. The irony is these animals cant go to the courts to seek justice. These stories remind us that we cant escape from our wrong doings toward Mother Nature as we cant escape from the court of the Almighty.

Will there be animals on the new Earth? Will we see our beloved pets in the afterlife? This book takes up the challenge to think in a responsible way through these questions. The author focuses in particular on the physical restoration, the prophetic proclamation of the coming animal peace, the attitude of God and humanity towards animals, and the question of the relationship between biblical life, the future of animals, and vegetarianism. What can the Bible and Christian doctrine reveal to us about God's way with animals?

Book After the Thousand Years

Download or read book After the Thousand Years written by J. Webb Mealy and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 1992-01-01 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fresh and highly illuminating approach to what is perhaps the most difficult chapter in the most difficult book of the New Testament. Mealy employs a carefully developed methodology which draws fully on the special literary techniques of Revelation, particularly its extensive use of internal cross-references, multivalent images and symbols, and complex Old Testament reminiscences. With its central thesis that Revelation 20.7-10 and 20.11-15 offer parallel representations of the resurrection and final judgment of the unrepentant, this study is destined to become a benchmark for future discussions not only of the millennium, but of the literary workings of Revelation as a whole.

  • Author : Nathan Cate
  • Publisher : Trafford Publishing
  • Release : 2015-08-03
  • ISBN : 1412241707
  • Pages : 386 pages

Download or read book Sanctuary of the Gods written by Nathan Cate and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2015-08-03 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than six centuries ago a stranger stumbled on a village in a remote valley in Northern Italy, seeking refuge from vengeance in the world outside. But there was something different about the valley, something strange about its people. Nothing was as it seemed. Did chance take him there, or were greater forces at work, calling him to play a role? Guided by fate, he would find himself at the center of an ancient mystery--and for a time the heritage of civilizations would rest in his hands. Before he was done, he would devise a gift like none before and vanish into history, leaving behind the seeds of rebirth and hope for future generations... Sanctuary of the Gods is vividly told, bringing history to life for its readers. The main story takes place at the dawn of the Renaissance, when European civilization was beginning its painful rise back towards the heights it had achieved in the days of Greece and Rome. There are also three detailed flashbacks to earlier periods: -A similar time more than 2,000 years before, when Greek civilization first began -The high point of Greek civilization in the age of Alexander The Great -Rome's decline, in the years following the Empire's conversion to Christianity. Sanctuary of the Gods is a story of survival against all odds, of human triumph over death and annihilation. It shows how a tiny village in Northern Italy became the last secret sanctuary of the old pagan religion, surviving through nine hundred years in hiding only to perish in the Black Death that swept Europe in 1348, and how, in those dark and terrifying days, a handful of survivors created the Tarot cards so that the heart of their religion would not perish with the sanctuary, but would survive in a hostile world, its origins forgotten, until the time was right for its rediscovery. For readers who are intrigued by the story and want to get to the heart of it, to discover the truth behind the things they've read, an appendix is provided. There, in 120 pages complemented by numerous illustrations, what at first seems too incredible to be anything but fiction is transformed by the evidence into compelling fact. Sanctuary is beautifully written with a clarity that brings the past to life and holds the reader's interest from beginning to end. For a Pagan or Tarot enthusiast, or for lovers of historical fiction, its appeal is apparent. But the story is powerful, and even readers who have never been interested in these subjects will find the book hard to put down. It gains the readers's attention because the characters and scenes described are lively and interesting, and because its vision is fresh and new, entirely unexpected. Be prepared for some surprises: the view from the Sanctuary is not like anything you have ever seen before...

Book All Power to the Lamb

    Book Details:
  • Author : James R. Johnson
  • Publisher : Xulon Press
  • Release : 2011-04
  • ISBN : 1613791232
  • Pages : 582 pages

Download or read book All Power to the Lamb written by James R. Johnson and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you were God, writing a book you wanted men to understand, would you write it in such a way that men would have to make up meaning in order to understand it, or would you write it in such a way that those that seek to understand could actually come to a knowledge of its truth (Mt 7:7)? The present commentary takes the position that God wrote Revelation such that with sufficient effort and intellectual honesty, readers can understand it. Certainly God uses symbols in Revelation, but when He does, He provides inspired interpretations of the symbols. This commentary seeks to avoid the mistakes of the views that use the symbolical approach to Revelation (preterist, continuous historical, spiritualist, and idealist). These approaches suffer from two basic flaws: assuming the text is symbolical when it is not and making up meaning regarding the text based on stream of consciousness word association, much as one would do looking at Rorschach inkblots. This commentary seeks to avoid telling God what He should have said and strives to understand what God actually meant. Of all the existing approaches to understanding Revelation, this commentary is most closely aligned with the dispensationalist (premillennialist/Left Behind) view in that it views Revelation from a literalist perspective. It is different from the typical dispensationalist schema in that it views the seven seals as the powers of the Lamb, understands the exercise of the powers of the seven seals to be simultaneous processes, and casts chapters 8-22 as three parallel prophecies of the Lamb's power over the course of the histories of Israel, the nations, and the saints. This commentary also makes use of many of the non-canonical works that provide insight into the spirit world and detail regarding the end of the present age.

Book From Synagogue to Church The Traditional Design

Download or read book From Synagogue to Church The Traditional Design written by John Wilkinson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-04-04 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The designs of synagogues and churches are acknowledged to be very alike. But the designers' procedure was confidential, and so far standard explanations have been unsatisfactory. A synagogue should express heavenly values with earthly materials. This combination was in fact expressed in numbers, for, as Plato said, they linked heaven and earth. Scripture described both the Jewish Tabernacle and Temple with a wealth of numbers. Proportions based on these numbers were used to design synagogues. Only a few Jewish documents survive, but they reveal a symbolism, which Christians sometimes repeat. The synagogue sanctuary was designed to contain the 'Holy Ark', and the mosaic floors reveal the point 'Before the Ark' for the prayers and readings. These places faced each other, with the idea that God was facing his people. The synagogue was seen as facing heaven and in church buildings Christians repeated the same proportions. This was a joint tradition among Jews and Christians. It was easy to design, was carried out secretly and accurately, and - without a computer - was extremely hard to unravel. This book, for the first time, does just that.

Book A Sanctuary in Our Midst Christmas Reflections on Jesus

Download or read book A Sanctuary in Our Midst Christmas Reflections on Jesus written by Karen L. Straszheim and published by Ambassador International. This book was released on 2019-11-12 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amidst the checklists and social engagements for the Christmas season, Karen Straszheim writes for the weary Christian who gets lost in the holiday madness. By placing a strong emphasis on spiritual rest, Straszheim's Christmas devotional is divided into eleven chapters that collectively call for the Christian to put their shopping bags down and just rest in the Scriptures. A Sanctuary in Our Midst: Christmas Reflections on Jesus is deeply enriched with Scripture references throughout to exemplify how the Old and New Testament compliment each other, and how we can understand the Bible. A Sanctuary in Our Midst is perfect for studying within a group or individually, to talk through Strazheim's discussion questions altogether over hot cocoa or to quietly reflect in one's own time. Either way, this devotional is a sanctuary in and of itself. Endorsements “Karen Straszheim’s A Sanctuary in Our Midst will help you prepare for the Christmas season. She presents the Scriptures in a way that both refreshes the believer in Jesus and answers many questions of those who are seeking the true meaning of Christmas. Karen helps the reader understand the importance of preparing the heart for Christmas. It is refreshing in application and focuses upon God’s Word. Most of all, A Sanctuary in Our Midst will help you see, “Believing in Jesus is different than being religious.” -Pastor Earl Korhonen, World Missions Director, Association of Free, Lutheran Congregations “When I was young I fondly remember the church we attended did something that made quite an impression on me. Each year, after Christmas they removed the lights, decorations and all the branches from the beautiful large tree that stood in the front. At Easter time the trunk from that same Christmas tree became the symbol for the Cross of Christ's Crucifixion. When Christmas came each year I began to anticipate this transformation - looking not just at the outward beauty but past the branches to the very center of the tree. The author has done the same thing in this devotional. The daily readings and questions point to the incredible connection between Christmas and Easter making the Gospel of Christ the very heart of it all. It is a wonderful way to anticipate the holidays. 'Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!' (2 Cor. 9:15).” -Jennifer Voss-White, Student of the Word, Servant of Christ, Women's Ministry Leader “Looking for ways to better prepare your heart for the coming of Christ? This devotional is full of inspiration. Karen does an excellent job of using Scripture to lead the reader through prophesies and their fulfillment. Everyday testimonies help to apply these truths to our lives today.” -Jan McDermott, Retired Bible Camp Director, Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp, Story City, Iowa “Karen Straszheim’s . . . use of Scripture is an essential point in the Gospel: Jesus’ nativity is the fulfillment of our prophesied Messiah. Karen leads the student to a deep understanding of the Advent message and restores the real message of Christmas. I wish the reader could see her in action when leading non-believers to the centrality of the Scripture, the preeminence of Jesus as our sin bearer, and hear the loving care in her voice. Karen is a true and competent evangelist . . . intelligent, gentle, and forthright. I hope you will experience her evangelical gift here in her devotional.” -Curt Mobley, Teacher of English at the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Prague, Czech Republic, and Missionary with ReachGlobal

Download or read book God of No Fixed Address written by Jean-Claude Verrecchia and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-01-12 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where does God live? This is not an idle question. Does God dwell there near us or away from us? Does he live in one place or is he willing to relocate? Is it possible to visit his house--and in this case what are the entrance requirements? Does he live in a closed place, totally, forbidden for any human visit? Answering these questions is the subject of God of No Fixed Address. The tone used is very accessible, and sometimes even disturbing. Misconceptions about the Jewish sanctuary, the Jerusalem temple, and the sacrificial system of the Old Testament will be flattened down and swept when necessary. They will triumph the amazing divine will, which takes man off balance, which refuses any confinement, which tears the sails and demolishes the stones to pitch his tent in every heart and in every community of faith. God of No Fixed Address is a journey for those who love discovering new territories.

Book excerpt: From award-winning author McCall Hoyle comes a new young adult novel, Meet the Sky, a story of love, letting go, and the unstoppable power of nature. It all started with the accident. The one that caused Sophie’s dad to walk out of her life. The one that left Sophie’s older sister, Meredith, barely able to walk at all. With nothing but pain in her past, all Sophie wants is to plan for the future—keep the family business running, get accepted to veterinary school, and protect her mom and sister from another disaster. But when a hurricane forms off the coast of North Carolina’s Outer Banks and heads right toward their island, Sophie realizes nature is one thing she can’t control. After she gets separated from her family during the evacuation, Sophie finds herself trapped on the island with the last person she’d have chosen—the reckless and wild Finn Sanders, who broke her heart freshman year. As they struggle to find safety, Sophie learns that Finn has suffered his own heartbreak; but instead of playing it safe, Finn’s become the kind of guy who goes surfing in the eye of the hurricane. He may be the perfect person to remind Sophie how to embrace life again, but only if their newfound friendship can survive the storm.
