Book excerpt: Les travaux de recherche de cette thèse s'inscrivent dans le cadre de la sécurité par chaos des réseaux locaux sans fil, en particulier les réseaux de capteurs sans fil. L'originalité de cette thèse consiste à proposer des cryptosystèmes à base de chaos plus adaptés aux réseaux de capteurs, en termes de consommation d'énergie, que les algorithmes conventionnels et à réaliser une implémentation sur une plateforme réelle. Nous présentons en premier lieu un état de l'art des réseaux, les menaces, les contraintes limitant le processus de sécurité des informations ainsi que les principales techniques de cryptographie. Nous donnons un aperçu sur la théorie de chaos et nous validons l'aspect aléatoire de plusieurs suites chaotiques par les tests statistiques du NIST. Nous proposons ensuite des nouvelles méthodes de construction de S-Box chaotiques tout en prouvant leur robustesse contre les attaques traditionnelles. Nous proposons enfin un nouvel algorithme de cryptage d'image dédié au réseau de capteurs sans fil. La validation de nos contributions est effectuée par simulation et par des mesures expérimentales sur une plateforme de réseaux de capteurs réels (SensLab).

L'un des principaux défis dans la conception de protocoles pour ce type de réseaux est l'accès au médium. Le standard IEEE 802.11 définit un mode pour les réseaux ad hoc. Cependant, le protocole MAC (Medium Access Control) décrit montre des problèmes d'équité et d'efficacité. Dans cette thèse j'ai d'abord évalué les performances d'algorithmes et de protocoles MAC existants et mis en évidence leurs problèmes de performance grâce à un modèle exploitant le formalisme des algèbres de processus stochastiques. Grâce à ces résultats j'ai proposé deux protocoles MAC (MadMac et PAS) pour les réseaux ad hoc et les réseaux locaux sans fil. Nos protocoles sont différents de ceux présentés dans la littérature car nous essayons de répondre au compromis équité-efficacité et les solutions que nous proposons sont à la fois équitables et efficaces.

Book excerpt: Les réseaux ad hoc sont utilisés aujourd’hui comme support de communication pour un vaste ensemble d'applications qui de l'interconnexion des réseaux de capteurs, aux réseaux d'infrastructure de secours (police, pompiers) utilisent plus ou moins les fondamentaux développés pour les réseaux ad hoc. La difficulté majeure rencontrée dans ce type d'architectures, est qu'il est nécessaire d'adapter les protocoles en fonction des différents paramètres rencontrés dans le réseau (faible/forte connectivité, faible/forte mobilité). L'approche développée durant cette thèse permet de créer de nouveaux types d'interactions entre les couches protocolaires. Ces interactions véhiculent des informations de nature à aider les différentes couches à s'adapter à leur environnement, permettant ainsi le développement d'algorithmes qui s'adaptent à l'environnement rencontré. L'objectif de cette thèse est de prouver la faisabilité et l'efficacité de méthodes cross-layer (ou multicouche). Les méthodes qui ont été développées durant cette thèse utilisent des mesurent faites sur la puissance du signal radio reçu par les nœuds pour en déterminer des informations relatives à la qualité des liens, dans le but d'optimiser le processus de sélection des routes. Les deux algorithmes cross-layer proposés ici ont montré que l'utilisation de ces informations permet d'offrir un gain substantiel de performances en termes de débits. Les optimisations cross-layer proposées ont nécessité la mise en place d'une infrastructure de communication coordonnée entre les couches physiques, MAC, et réseau. Les évaluations de performances qui ont été effectuées mettent donc en œuvre des simulations effectuées sur plusieurs simulateurs dans lesquels la pile de protocoles simulée implémente des interactions cross-layer de manière autocontrôlée permettant une véritable interaction entre les couches. Les optimisations cross-layer effectuées nous ont permis de développer deux algorithmes basés sur le protocole de routage AODV permettant de sélectionner les routes de manière dynamique, non plus seulement sur le seul critère du nombre de sauts, mais aussi en fonction du taux d'erreurs au niveau applicatif présentes sur celles-ci. Cela a pour conséquence dans les deux algorithmes proposés d'offrir un environnement réseau plus performant en termes de débits car globalement les routes ainsi sélectionnées sont moins sujettes aux retransmissions de paquets au niveau de la couche MAC, mais aussi plus performant en termes de débit au niveau physique. Il a été prouvé que dans un assez grand nombre de cas, les problèmes posés par les méthodes cross-layer pouvaient être résolus et que ces méthodes amélioraient beaucoup les performances du réseau. Book excerpt: La gestion de la qualité de service (QoS) dans les réseaux filaires demeure toujours un réel défi aujourd'hui. Ce dernier est encore plus grand dans le contexte des réseaux sans fil, d'où souvent la QoS se voit dégradée tant au niveau de contrôle d'accès qu'au niveau du routage; et devient alors un concept important si l'on désire transporter l'information avec un maximum de fiabilité. Les plus importantes métriques de QoS sont le débit, le délai (ainsi que la gigue), la collision et le taux de pertes. Dans les réseaux sans fil, le protocole d'accès le plus utilisé est le standard IEEE 802.11. Celui-ci permet notamment d'accéder au canal de façon distribuée grâce à la fonction de coordination distribuée ou DCF (Distributed Coordination Function). Étant donné que les performances des applications, déployées au-dessus du protocole IEEE 802.11, dépendent directement des performances de ce dernier (gestion optimisée de l'accès au canal, partage équitable des ressources, délai de transmission borné, etc.), il est important de chercher à optimiser et à mieux contrôler l'accès au canal. Dans ce contexte, un protocole d'accès au médium MAC efficace avec lequel les stations peuvent partager un canal commun est essentiel dans un réseau ad hoc. L'objectif général de cette thèse est donc de concevoir des algorithmes permettant de contrôler l'accès au médium et de maintenir les aspects de QoS. Notre travail de recherche est structuré en deux approches afin d'optimiser l'accès au canal du standard IEEE 802.11 : (1) la première approche consiste à minimiser le gaspillage du canal (ce qui se produit quand il y a des collisions entre plusieurs stations ou bien quand il y a des backoff slots inutiles). Pour cela, nous avons proposé un nouvel algorithme NBA (Neighbourhood Backoff Algorithm) qui prend en considération le nombre de voisins dans la zone de couverture d'où chaque station modifie son backoff par rapport au nombre de voisins. (2) La deuxième approche est basée sur l'idée suivante: tant que l'on utilise une méthode aléatoire pour accéder au médium, telle qu'elle est défini dans le standard, on ne peut ni éviter les collisions entre les stations ni garantir les aspects de la qualité de service. Il a donc été question de proposer un nouvel algorithme d'accès au médium, appelé RC-MAC (Reduced Collisions MAC), fondé sur le principe de TDMA et qui garantit l'accès au médium sans collisions. Nous avons évalué les algorithmes cités précédemment en utilisant opnet modeler. Les performanccs de ces nouveaux mécanismes ont été comparée au mécanisme conventionnel DCF. Nous avons noté que les mécanismes proposés réalisent des meilleures performances que le standard.

Il présente les techniques de modélisation utilisées pour l'intégration des couches MAC-PHYs (Medium Access Control and Physical layer) de type IR-UWB (Impulse Radio Ultra Wideband) d'une part, et des nouvelles techniques de transmission à 60GHz incluant le beamforming d'autre part, dans le simulateur GloMoSim/QualNet. La modélisation de IR-UWB est basée sur la prise en compte directe des collisions d'impulsions et de l'interférence multi-utilisateur au niveau de la couche PHY par l'introduction du concept de séquences de réception et la notion d'orthogonalité en réception. L'architecture de modélisation proposée est basée sur l'utilisation d'une matrice d'interférence, elle a été développée en deux étapes : une première modélisation basée sur des trains d'impulsions uniformément espacées et une deuxième modélisation plus complète prenant en compte l'utilisation des séquences de sauts aléatoires également appelés séquences de time hopping. L'évaluation de performances de cette partie est basée sur une application typique des réseaux de capteurs dans le cadre d'une application de détection d'intrusion sur une surface protégée. La modélisation à 60 GHz à pour but la prise en compte des nouvelles techniques d'amélioration du débit, notamment l'agrégation et le beamforming. La prise en compte du beamforming est basée sur la définition, des diagrammes de rayonnement des antennes ainsi que de l'interface MAC-PHY/Antenne. La modélisation des deux protocoles de beamforming définis dans le standard 802.15.3c est également effectuée. L'évaluation de performances de cette partie est basée sur un système de distribution de contenu multimédia.
