Book excerpt: My idea of cooking is in large quantity, so there is always extra to make that second meal, this is what my book is about Cook once, Eat twice, so you still get that second dish while saving time and money. Also in some of my recipes I provided a way to substitute certain ingredients and still get that fantastic meal. Dont forget to check out the specialty and tip pages with all my little cooking secrets. My past is full of family who loved to cook. My Italian Grandma from Italy love to cook turning her home into a small restaurant where she would entertain people who love great homemade cooking. I grew up on a farm where times were tough, tomatoes and vegetables were plentiful, so I would help my Ma cook and jar sauces and jams for those cold winters. Those traditions Ive passed onto my children. Holidays were and still are big celebration with my family and friends stopping over for homemade food and drinks. I always enjoy seeing their expressions and when they asked whats in here its delicious!! Still to this day, my children and I have our Sunday Family Dinner. We get together, cook and discuss the weeks events. In our family we believe A family who cooks together, eat together, stays together! The recipes in my book are mine and my familys favorites. I hope you make them yours!!

Book excerpt: When a young girl and her family move from Sicily to country Australia, it is a surprisingly small step in kitchen miles. The tablecloth and stockpot are the same, cardoons and fennel still grow wild on the roadside and the extended family and neighbours gather to make salami in the barn once a year. My Cousin Rosa captures the atmosphere, experiences and recipes of Rosa Mitchell’s Sicilian kitchen. Rosa’s food is very special: soulful, traditional, family-orientated and utterly authentic. In this beautiful book, her thoughts on life, both Australian and Sicilian, are scattered among the recipes like biscotti crumbs. Chapters offer recipes for antipasto, soup, pasta, meat dishes, vegetables and desserts. The recipes are complemented by stunning photography of both finished dishes and from throughout the preparation process, be that the making of salami the traditional way or the preparation of fresh cannelloni. Gorgeous illustrations and family photographs complete the book.

Book excerpt: The white colonisers of Australia suffered from Alliumphobia, a fear of garlic. Local cooks didn’t touch the stuff and it took centuries for that fear to lift. This food history of Australia shows we held onto British assumptions about produce and cooking for a long time and these fed our views on racial hierarchies and our place in the world. Before Garlic we had meat and potatoes; After Garlic what we ate got much more interesting. But has a national cuisine emerged? What is Australian food culture? Renowned food writer John Newton visits haute cuisine or fine dining restaurants, the cafes and mid-range restaurants, and heads home to the dinner tables as he samples what everyday people have cooked and eaten over centuries. His observations and recipes old and new, show what has changed and what hasn’t changed as much as we might think even though our chefs are hailed as some of the best in the world.

With The Healthy Electric Smoker Cookbook, you can confidently smoke just about anything, offering many advantages over traditional smoking methods. - More convenient - Precise temperature control means you don't need to spend hours tweaking temperature, adding wood, and tending to the smoker. - Less cost - Conventional smokers require a significant amount of wood to produce consistent smoke and heat over long periods of time, but electric smokers use a very small amount of wood, which is used for flavoring and not as the energy source. - Smaller footprint - Electric smokers take up significantly less space and produce much less ash than traditional smokers. From happy hour, to entrée, to dessert, use any brand of electric smoker to wow your family and neighbors without building a smokehouse in your backyard. Plus, no unnecessary carbs and processed ingredients needed. Smoke your own skinny jalapeño margaritas, chipotle sriracha wings, cilantro lime beef satay, or dark chocolate brownies with bourbon whipped cream. Sure, you can loiter and watch your ribs slowly tenderize if you want, but you can also go do your yard work while your electric appliance turns out the most perfectly smoked and traditionally flavored barbecue you've ever created.
